This presentation will also include information about publishing in the JIP, download patterns of JIP articles, a brief history of the journal, and the process to become a peer-reviewer. Participants will be able to: describe the process for submitting manuscripts to the JIP. Infusing Case Conceptualization and Treatment Planning into the Counseling Practicum and Internship Learning Experience

Case conceptualization is considered by many to be the most important competency expected in clinical practice today. This presentation will review the process of infusing case conceptualization and treatment planning in practicum and internship courses. The information that will be presented and illustrated in this session will include a review of case conceptualization, practicum and internship assignments, exemplar case conceptualization reports, and evaluation rubrics

Are You Ready for This? Graduates Self-Perceived Self-Efficacy and Readiness for a Career in Counseling

After graduation, counselor educators and supervisors may have limited contact with alumni who are now working as professional counselors. We spend years helping them learn, develop and grow but are often left wondering how our teaching and supervision influenced them in the “real world”. We mostly learn about alumni outcomes through aggregate assessment data, but qualitatively we may be missing pieces that help us learn more about how to improve ways we teach and supervise to best prepare graduates for this career. This program reviews one method for engaging alumni in a semi-structured interview that helps address this curiosity. Participants will learn about how to effectively connect with alumni and apply results from interview data to programmatic changes that can best prepare students for the field

Trauma-Informed Practices of Mental Health Providers Around the Globe

This study examined trauma-informed practices of mental health professionals from 25 different countries. The literature indicates that many practitioners feel unprepared and unequipped to therapeutically work with individuals who have experienced trauma-related psychological disorders (SAMHSA, 2014). This poster highlights the deficits in trauma-informed competency among practitioners from around the globe, offers recommendations to emphasize graduate and post-graduate trauma-informed training, and also offers suggestions for future trauma competencies

Development of a Multi-Criteria Decision Method for High-Speed Rail Corridor Evaluation

High-speed intercity passenger rail projects are very complex and require many years of planning and environmental activities before construction can begin. Given the complexity of planning and environmental reviews associated with high-speed intercity passenger rail corridor planning, a systematic approach for high-level screening of various alternative routings for proposed high-speed rail corridors is desired. In this context, this paper proposes a multi-criteria decision-making framework to assist high-speed rail planners with the preliminary screening and ranking of potential high-speed rail corridors. The proposed framework is applied to the question of ranking 13 alternative routings for connecting the South Central and Gulf Coast federally-designated high-speed rail corridors located in Texas. Attributes that are incorporated in the decision framework include population, travel demand, capital costs, land use and environmental impacts, and engineering suitability. While the multi-criteria decision-making framework developed in this paper cannot be used to completely replace the environmental review process and formal alternatives analysis, it can be used by planners as a tool for preliminary screening or ranking of proposed high-speed rail corridors for detailed analysis

On-line electrochemistry–bioaffinity screening with parallel HR-LC-MS for the generation and characterization of modified p38α kinase inhibitors

In this study, an integrated approach is developed for the formation, identification and biological characterization of electrochemical conversion products of p38α mitogen-activated protein kinase inhibitors. This work demonstrates the hyphenation of an electrochemical reaction cell with a continuous-flow bioaffinity assay and parallel LC-HR-MS. Competition of the formed products with a tracer (SKF-86002) that shows fluorescence enhancement in the orthosteric binding site of the p38α kinase is the readout for bioaffinity. Parallel HR-MSn experiments provided information on the identity of binders and non-binders. Finally, the data produced with this on-line system were compared to electrochemical conversion products generated off-line. The electrochemical conversion of 1-{6-chloro-5-[(2R,5S)-4-(4-fluorobenzyl)-2,5-dimethylpiperazine-1-carbonyl]-3aH-indol-3-yl}-2-morpholinoethane-1,2-dione resulted in eight products, three of which showed bioaffinity in the continuous-flow p38α bioaffinity assay used. Electrochemical conversion of BIRB796 resulted, amongst others, in the formation of the reactive quinoneimine structure and its corresponding hydroquinone. Both products were detected in the p38α bioaffinity assay, which indicates binding to the p38α kinase
