Hydrogen maser oscillation at 10 K
A low temperature atomic hydrogen maser was developed using frozen atomic neon as the storage surface. The maser has been operated in the pulsed mode at temperatures from 6 K to 11 K and as a self-excited oscillator from 9 K to 10.5 K
To adopt is to adapt: The process of implementing the ICF with an acute stroke multidisciplinary team in England

This project aimed to explore ways the ICF could be used with an acute stroke multidisciplinary team and identify key learning from the implementation process. Method: Using an action research approach, iterative cycles of observe, plan, act and evaluate were used within three phases: exploratory; innovatory and reflective. Thematic analysis was undertaken, using a model of immersion and crystallisation, on data collected via interview and focus groups, e-mail communications, minutes from relevant meetings, field notes and a reflective diary. Results: Two overall themes were determined from the data analysis which enabled implementation. There is a need to: (1) adopt the ICF in ways that meet local service needs; and (2) adapt the ICF language and format. Conclusions: The empirical findings demonstrate how to make the ICF classification a clinical reality. First, we need to adopt the ICF as a vehicle to implement local service priorities e.g. to structure a multidisciplinary team report, thus enabling ownership of the implementation process. Second, we need to adapt the ICF terminology and format to make it acceptable for use by clinicians. This study is funded by The Elizabeth Casson Trust. Campanha POP 12.
Constraining non-minimally coupled tachyon fields by Noether symmetry
A model for a spatially flat homogeneous and isotropic Universe whose
gravitational sources are a pressureless matter field and a tachyon field
non-minimally coupled to the gravitational field is analyzed. Noether symmetry
is used to find the expressions for the potential density and for the coupling
function, and it is shown that both must be exponential functions of the
tachyon field. Two cosmological solutions are investigated: (i) for the early
Universe whose only source of the gravitational field is a non-minimally
coupled tachyon field which behaves as an inflaton and leads to an exponential
accelerated expansion and (ii) for the late Universe whose gravitational
sources are a pressureless matter field and a non-minimally coupled tachyon
field which plays the role of dark energy and is the responsible of the
decelerated-accelerated transition period.Comment: 11 pages, 5 figures. Version accepted for publication in Classical
