Violence in the Lives of Rural, Southern, and Poor White Women

Poor White single mothers and their children in non-urban communities in the American South experience high levels of domestic violence. We report selected findings from a life history study among White, low-income, unmarried mothers in South Carolina. Rural Development Literature: An Annotated Bibliography, 1969-75

Excerpts from the Foreword: The Rural Development Act of 1972 has spurred interest in rural development and provided a framework for action. Many working in this area have been without literature or information resources to make important decisions. They are constantly seeking information on new ideas, strategies, procedures, and techniques appropriate to their purposes. This selective bibliography attempts to satisfy this need by providing references with annotations in seven key rural development areas, and some suggestions on where to get information or help. Community leaders, rural development committees, researchers, and community resource development (CRD) personnel should find this publication useful as a starting point in identifying and obtaining literature or information for program design and implementation. Seven subject areas have received concentrated attention.
