    CP Violation Highlights: Circa 2005

    Recent highlights in CP violation phenomena are reviewed. B-factory results imply that CP-violation phase in the CKM matrix is the dominant contributor to the observed CP violation in K and B-physics. Deviations from the predictions of the CKM-paradigm due to beyond the Standard Model CP-odd phase are likely to be a small perturbation. Therefore, large data sample of clean B's will be needed. Precise determination of the unitarity triangle, along with time dependent CP in penguin dominated hadronic and radiative modes are discussed.     Hadronic matrix elements from the lattice

    Lattice matrix elements are briefly reviewed. In the quenched approximation fBf_B, BBB_B and BKB_K are now under good control. Experimental hints for fDSexpt>fDSQQCDf^{\rm expt}_{D_S}> f^{\rm QQCD}_{D_S} are noted; precise determination of fDSf_{D_S} from experiment as well as from the lattice is strongly advocated. Lattice calculations of the form factor for B→πℓνB\to\pi\ell\nu at relatively large value of q2q^2 have made good progress and should be useful in conjunction with precise measurement of the differential spectra expected from BB-factories. Recent attempt at K→ππK\to \pi\pi using staggered quarks is briefly discussed; use of non-perturbative renormalization, improved actions and operators with staggered quarks is emphasized.     ATLAS Forward Detectors and Physics

    In this communication I describe the ATLAS forward physics program and the detectors, LUCID, ZDC and ALFA that have been designed to meet this experimental challenge. In addition to their primary role in the determination of ATLAS luminosity these detectors - in conjunction with the main ATLAS detector - will be used to study soft QCD and diffractive physics in the initial low luminosity phase of ATLAS running. Finally, I will briefly describe the ATLAS Forward Proton (AFP) project that currently represents the future of the ATLAS forward physics program.Comment: 4 pages, Proceedings for Lake Louise Winter Institute 201

    RSUP Dr.Soeradji Tirtonegoro Klaten adalah rumah sakit tipe B pendidikan mempunyai kapasitas tempat tidur 330 buah,dengan rata-rata BOR 68% (mei 2003).adanya dampak negatif yang diakibatkan dari kegiatanya maka RSUP Dr.Soeradji Tirtonegoro Klaten, telah membangun sebuah instalasi pengolahan limbah cair (IPLC),yang mengolah limbah cair sebanyak rata-rata 94,4%M3 perhari. Kualitas effluen IPLC Tahun 2002,dari parameter sesuai dengan Kep.Men.LH No.58/Men.LH/12/95 tentang Baku Mutu Limbah Cair Bagi Kegiatan Rumah Sakit,Kadar Phosphat masih melebihi kadar yang diperbolehkan (2mg/L).mengingat hal tersebut dan memperhatikan dampak yang ditimbulkan akibat tingginya kadar Phosphat ,Maka penulis mencoba melakukan penelitian mengenai penurunan kadar phosphat Limbah cair RSUP Dr.Soeradji Tirtonegoro Klaten dengan menggunakan larutan kapur [Ca(OH)2. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui adanya perbedaan berbagai dosis larutan kapur,dan untuk mencari dosis efektif terhadap penurunan kadar phosphat limbah cair,mengunakan larutan kapur 2% dengan variasi dosis 15 ml/l,20 ml/l,30 ml/l,35 ml/l,dan 40 ml/l. Penelitian ini bersifat eksperimen semu dengan rancangan pretest-posttest . dengan kelompok kontrol (Randomized control-Group pretest-Posttest Design) .Variabel bebas dalam penelitian ini adalah efektifitas dosis larutan kapur dan variabel terikat adalah penurunan kadar phosphat limbah cair.Berdasarkan hasil penelitian serta analisa data,dapat di simpulkan bahwa ada perbedaan yang bermakna secara statistik perlakuan pemberian larutan kapur 2% dari variasi dosis yang digunakan.Dosis paling efektif adalah 30 ml/l,sedangkan dosis optimum untuk dapat diterapkan dilapangan adalah 28ml/l. Sehubungan dengan kesimpulan tersebut diatas,maka penulis memberikan saran kepada fihak pengelola limbah cair,untuk melakukan pengolahan penurunan kadar phosphat dengan larutan kapur pada lokasi bak,setelah bak pengendapan II. The effluent Quality of IPLC in 2002 based on the parameter of The SK MenLH No.58/MenLH/12/95 regarding the quality standart of the waste water for the hospital activities,the phosphat content is still beyond what is determined 8,33 mg/l Remembering that and noting the impacts which arise,that is,the high level of phosphate consentration,the writer tries to carry out a risearch on the decriase of the phosphate consentration of the waste water in Dr.Soeradji Tirtonegoro Distric General Hospital, Klaten by using the calcium solotion (Ca(OH)2). The objective of this research are to know the defferences of the calcium solution dosage,and to find out the effective dosage to decrease the phosphat content of the waste water treatment in Dr.Soeradji Tirtonegoro Distric Hoslpital,Klaten,by using 2% of calcium solotion with the dosage variations 15 ml/l,20 ml/l,25 ml/l,30 ml/l,35 ml/l and 40 ml/l. This research is a quasi experiment with the pretest posttest design. The independent Variables in this research are the effectiveness of calcium solution dosage and dependent variables,the decrease of phosphat content of waste water treatment in Dr.Soeradji Tirtonegoro Distric General Hospital, Klaten . Based on the research result and the data analysis, it can be concluded that there are statistically meaningfull defferences in the use of calcium solution 2% from the dosage variation applied and the most effective dosage is 30 ml/l,while the optimal dosage which can be use is 28 ml/l.     Towards establishing the spin of warped gravitons

    We study the possibility of experimental verification of the spin=2 nature of the Kaluza-Klein (KK) graviton which is predicted to exist in the extra-dimensional Randal-Sundrum (RS) warped models. The couplings of these gravitons to the particles located on or near the TeV brane is the strongest as the overlap integral of their profiles in the extra-dimension is large. Among them are unphysical Higgses (WL±W^{\pm}_L and ZLZ_L) and KK excitations of the Standard Model (SM) gauge bosons. We consider the possibility to confirm the spin-2 nature of the first KK mode of the warped graviton (G1G_1) based on the angular distribution of the Z bozon in the graviton rest frame in the gg→G1→WKK(ZKK)W(Z)→WWZ\to G_1 \to W^{KK} (Z^{KK}) W (Z)\to WWZ, gg→G1→ZZ\to G_1\to ZZ and gg→G1→ZKKZ→ZZH\to G_1 \to Z^{KK} Z\to ZZH decay channels. Using Wigner D-matrix properties, we derive the relationship between the graviton spin, signal angular distribution peak value, and other theoretically calculable quantities. We then study the LHC signals for these decay modes and find that with 1000 fb−1^{-1} of data, spin of the RS graviton up to ∼\sim 2 TeV may be confirmed in the pp→WKK(ZKK)W(Z)→WWZ→pp \to W^{KK} (Z^{KK}) W (Z) \to WWZ \to 3 leptons + jet + \slashed{E}_T and pp→ZZ→pp \to ZZ \to 4 leptons decay modes.Comment: 19 pages, 6 figure
