On number fields with equivalent integral trace forms

Let $K$ be a number field. The \textit{integral trace form} is the integral quadratic form given by $\text{tr}_{K/\mathbb{Q}}(x^2)|_{O_{K}}.$ In this article we study the existence of non-conjugated number fields with equivalent integral trace forms. As a corollary of one of the main results of this paper, we show that any two non-totally real number fields with the same signature and same prime discriminant have equivalent integral trace forms. Additionally, based on previous results obtained by the author and the evidence presented here, we conjecture that any two totally real quartic fields of fundamental discriminant have equivalent trace zero forms if and only if they are conjugated

Efficient implementation of a van der Waals density functional: Application to double-wall carbon nanotubes

We present an efficient implementation of the van der Waals density functional of Dion et al [Phys. Rev. Lett. 92, 246401 (2004)], which expresses the nonlocal correlation energy as a double spacial integral. We factorize the integration kernel and use fast Fourier transforms to evaluate the selfconsistent potential, total energy, and atomic forces, in N log(N) operations. The resulting overhead in total computational cost, over semilocal functionals, is very moderate for medium and large systems. We apply the method to calculate the binding energies and the barriers for relative translation and rotation in double-wall carbon nanotubes.Comment: 4 pages, 1 figure, 1 tabl

La diversidad afectivo-sexual en el cómic: material didáctico para el ámbito educativo

La siguiente propuesta pretende utilizar el recurso del cómic como instrumento didáctico recurrente en los diferentes ámbitos del sistema educativo, con especial incidencia en enseñanza secundaria y la universidad. El mundo del cómic resulta un instrumento atractivo para trabajar la diversa realidad afectivo-sexual de la sociedad actual. Se pretende seleccionar algunos de los cómics más significativos en los tres ámbitos más destacados: el manga japonés, con sus manifestaciones yaoi y yuri, el cómic norteamericano, con el universo de los superhéroes y la recreación de mundos posibles gais y lésbicos y el europeo que se debate entre los tintes trágicos y cómicos. Tras la selección se procederá al planteamiento de propuestas didácticas para el aula en los diferentes niveles de educación. El objetivo pasa por utilizar estos materiales como instrumentos para formar en diversidad afectivo-sexual, así como para prevenir cualquier tipo de manifestación de fobia contra lesbianas, gais, transgéneros o bisexuales
