It involves a statistical analysis of its wind regime, the probability distribution of wind speed and power analysis. A rigorous selection of the probability distribution leads to an unambiguous power analysis. The main distribution selected is Weibull and Gama probability distribution. The wind power equation is derived through transformation method and the outcome of wind power analysis demonstrates the feasibility for the efficient extraction of wind energy in Malaysia. This paper suggests the potential of Mersing area for generating wind power
Properties of Structural Lightweight Concrete Filled with Palm-Based Polyurethane
Four experiments were conducted to characterize the properties of palm-based polyurethane (PU) foam in lightweight concrete. The PU foam was synthesized from palm kernel oil-based polyol reacted with 2, 4-methylene diphenyl diisocyanate. Polyurethane as lightweight aggregate was mixed with ordinary cement, sand, and water to form lightweight concrete. The microstructure of PU aggregate can be accessed from optical micrographs. Density, compressive strength, distribution of fine aggregate, and the interfacial zone were also investigated. The result showed that palm-based lightweight concrete has excellent compressive strength (17.5 MPa), and fulfilled the minimum strength requirement for structural concrete. Palm-based lightweight concrete with 0.6 w/c ratio and 3% w/w PU system achieved 1770 kg/m3 presented uniform dispersion of aggregate and excellent mechanical bonding
Experimental and theoretical investigations of the impact localization of a passive smart composite plate fabricated using piezoelectric materials
Two passive smart composite plates are fabricated using one and two PZT patches that are cheaper than the PZT wafer. The composite plate is fabricated in low temperature through the hand lay-up method to avoid PZT patch decoupling and wire spoiling. The locus of the impact point is identified using the output voltage to identify the impact location using one sensor. The output voltages of the sensors are analyzed to identify the impact location using two sensors. The locations of the impacts are determined based on the crossing points of two circles and the origin of an intended Cartesian coordinate system that is concentric with one of the sensors. This study proposes the impact location identification of the passive smart composite using the low-cost PZT patch PIC155 instead of common embedded materials (wafer and element piezoelectric)
A study on the characteristics of palm-based polyurethane as a lightweight aggregate in concrete mix
Research on the development of lightweight concrete (LWC) utilizing wastes and natural resources as lightweight aggregates (LWA) is increasingly gaining attention worldwide due to sustainable and environmental concerns. A new alternative is using palm kernel oil polyol (PKO-p)-based polyurethane (PU) as filler. Rigid PU is a block copolymer comprised of a monomeric PKO-p and 2, 4-methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (crude MDI). The property of PKO-p, its ratio with crude MDI and reaction time were determined. The reaction time showed the average of 60 s for cream time and 95 s for rise time with maximum hardening time of 8 min. The reaction between PKO-p to MDI at 1:1 ratio resulted in a very short hardening time (within 2 min). The compressive strength of the rigid PU was at 7.0 MPa at a density of 206 kg/m3. Further increase in the amount of PKO-p increased the density and compressive strength of the PU. PU aggregate in the concrete mixture was added at 1 to 5% (w/w) to obtain concrete with density of less than 1800 kg/m3. The resulting concrete has excellent compressive strength (17.5 MPa) and thermal conductivity (0.24 W/m⋅K). The results showed that physical properties of PU played the most significant effect on the physical and mechanical properties of the lightweight concrete

beza kenaikan sebanyak 4K. Hasil keputusan mendapati Model MPO berupaya
menjimatkan penggunaan tenaga elektrik sebanyak 25% tanpa mengabaikan tahap
keselesaan terma Jemaah.
Performance of a solar assisted solid desiccant dryer for kenaf core fiber drying under low solar radiation
The solar assisted solid desiccant dryer was used to dry kenaf core fiber at low solar radiation. The solar energy was used to heat water using solar collector and transfer heat to the air via heat exchanger. The hot air is used for regeneration of desiccant wheel and increase temperature of process air after dehumidification. The desiccant wheel system is used as a heat source to supply hot and dry air for the drying chamber. Drying under the sun was also conducted simultaneously for comparison. The main objective of this paper is to study the performance of a dryer. The drying time using this system was reduced by 24% from 20.75 h to 15.75 h compared to open sun drying because the process continues even in the absence of sunshine using the dryer system. Dryer efficiency at low solar radiation (average
394 W/m2) is approximately 12%. The percentage of solar energy used in this system is approximately 44% from the overall energy. During hot sunny days, the solar energy percentage should be higher and the temperature of drying air would also increase. Thus, drying performance also increases under high solar radiation. The uniformity of the drying process throughout the drying chamber was acceptable
because the sample on the five random trays achieved final moisture content below 18% in two days. In the initial stages of removing moisture on the product surface, air velocity is more significant than air temperature and humidity. As the moisture content of the product
decreases, air temperature is more important to move the water from the interior to the surface for evaporation. The result shows that the solar-assisted solid desiccant dryer can continue to be operated even at low solar radiation for kenaf core fiber drying. The improvement in performance of other components such as solar collector, heat exchanger, and desiccant wheel will also improve overall drying
performance
Experimental evaluation on large scale solar dryer for drying natural fiber in Malaysia
Drying process is one of the most common application used in solar thermal. This experiment was tested on performance of a large-scale solar dryer to dry natural fiber. The dryer consists of several main component such as solar thermal collector, heat exchangers and confine polycarbonate chamber. Average solar irradiance, ambient temperature and relative humidity recorded were612.84 W/m2, 32.42 oC and 60.01 %. The drying was completed in 3 days or 14.58 hours, and able to reduce 1004.2 kg weight and 70.7 % moisture content wet basis. Performance of the dryer was evaluated based on evaporative capacity, specific moisture extraction rate and specific energy consumption, and the values are 68.88 kg/hr, 3.55 kg/kWh and0.28 kWh/kg respectively. Cost of operation determined as RM117.13 per cycle and cost of product was RM0.28 for every kilogram dried fiber produced. Based on capital cost, annual return of investment and profit, payback period estimated is about 3.7 years
