Tesis por compendio[EN] One of the greatest challenges of companies from its beginnings has been to improve productivity through efficiency in all processes, especially in production processes. To do this, has used different tools, being the study of working methods and standard times a powerful tool for improving productivity in companies, especially measuring and improving the productivity from the human viewpoint factor. The literature review to contextualize this thesis shows that there is a lot of literature on the definition of productivity, the evolution of the term over time, factors affecting it, different ways of measuring, different ratings for definitions productivity, etc. A significant search and a profound classification has been made refuting some statements. Initially this thesis is focused on identifying the situation of different sectors of Valencia in productivity, techniques and tools used to measure it, two sectors - automotive and lighting companies - have been thoroughly studied conducting surveys to companies in both sectors. Both qualitative and quantitative results as shown. Interesting findings are extracted from this study, such as, among others, that different sectors have diferent needs, different tools are used depending on the sector or the same tools are used for different purposes. This studies has been supported by a thorough review of the supplement tables provided by the International Labour Organization, which has been undertaken by the author supported by the work of experts in this field. To reinforce this last point, interviews to experts timekeepers has been made to see the deficiencies found in time studies conducted in companies and what are the causes.[ES] Uno de los mayores retos de las empresas desde sus inicios ha sido mejorar la productividad a través de la eficiencia en todos sus procesos, especialmente en los procesos productivos. Estelles Miguel, S. Multivariable Supplier Segmentation in Sustainable Supply Chain Management

[EN] Pressure from stakeholders for sustainable development is forcing top management to reconsider its supply chain management. This form of sustainability must consider the risks, insecurities, and lack of proximity caused by any event on the global economy. Organizations must identify and manage the risks of every link in the chain, while pursuing sustainable development. Corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainable development must be the result of a deliberate and coordinated response by the entire organization. A suitable segmentation of suppliers allows development strategies to be prioritized. This article presents the steps that should be followed in supply chain management, the identification of risks, and the new leadership of purchasing management to develop a sustainable supply chain. To this end, some of the key industrial actions reported in the literature are outlined, and two case studies are presented to identify the steps for the segmentation and dynamic development of suppliers. This article provides reflections on the responsibilities of senior management in the new era of sustainable development and presents guidance on how to coordinate sustainable development in the supply chain.Rius-Sorolla, G.; Estelles Miguel, S.; Rueda Armengot, C. Full text link
[EN] Purpose The purpose of this paper is to analyze the different types of work and to examine how they are related with open innovation, either by carrying out relationships with companies or external agents, or through the outsourcing of qualified and creative work. Design/methodology/approach After the theoretical analysis of the different types of work, the empirical study uses qualitative comparative analysis (QCA) to analyze the different variables and their relations which favor open innovation. Findings The combination of the variables in the QCA makes it possible to obtain three paths among the characteristics of the qualified work and open innovation, with a positive empirical result. The general conclusion is that the motivation level of the qualified work is relevant for open innovation. Originality/value The originality and value of this paper consist in relating the internal efficiency in the work management with the effectiveness and success of open innovation.Peris-Ortiz, M.; Rueda Armengot, C.; Estelles Miguel, S. Collaborative learning and pandemic situation with online teaching. The experience in Management Skills for Engineers

[EN] In the subject of Management Skills for Engineers in the last 2020/21 academic year, it was necessary to modify radically the full teaching scheme. Given that the number of students was small and that they already knew the conceptual management basis, this subject had traditionally been developed through reverse teaching and carrying out cases and group works in a collaborative learning context. COVID and the need of structuring teaching and tutorials based on TEAMS, which the UPV has standardized, raised an important turning point and decision: moving to a traditional teaching methodology or keeping the one used until now adapting it to take advantage of the potential of TEAMS and the rest of the UPV's applications. In this communication the theoretical foundations, the planning of the subject and the most significant results are summarized.Dema Pérez, CM.; Estelles Miguel, S.; Fernández Llatas, C. (2022). Morphologic matrix application as a tool to spring on creativity

[EN] Morphological analysis methodology has a broad spectrum of application: from technological management to the design of new products and services. Among the techniques applied for spurring creativity in “Managerial Skills to Engineers”, Morphological Analysis has been that has had more success along the years. Traditionally has the feature of being a technique very structured that easily can be applied by the students for resolving different kind of problems, and actually the results confirm this asseveration. Our group has applied this methodology since many years ago. First on doctorate courses of “Technology Management” and afterwards on training in different companies, degree and master subjects, and on Continuous Improvement actions (Kaizen blitz) in Almusaffes Ford Factory and first line suppliers. On this paper we discuss the experience applying it as a tool for developing new products combining with other techniques for spurring creativity as brain storming, lateral thinking, de Bono’s hats, nominal group, etc. In this communication are resumed some of the technique application results and the most interesting answers to the final questionnaire each year is passed for knowing directly student’s real opinion.

[EN] The increase in the complexity of supply chains requires greater efforts to align the activities of all its members in order to improve the creation of value of their products or services offered to customers. In general, the information is asymmetric; each member has its own objective and limitations that may be in conflict with other members. Operations managements face the challenge of coordinating activities in such a way that the supply chain as a whole remains competitive, while each member improves by cooperating. This document aims to offer a systematic review of the collaborative planning in the last decade on the mechanisms of coordination in mathematical programming models that allow us to position existing concepts and identify areas where more research is needed.Rius-Sorolla, G.; Maheut, J.; Estelles Miguel, S.; García Sabater, JP. Operations planning test bed under rolling horizons, multiproduct, multiechelon, multiprocess for capacitated production planning modelling with strokes

[EN] One of the problems when conducting research in mathematical programming models for operations planning is having an adequate database of experiments that can be used to verify advances and developments with enough factors to understand different consequences. This paper presents a test bed generator and instances database for a rolling horizons analysis for multiechelon planning, multiproduct with alternatives processes, multistroke, multicapacity with different stochastic demand patterns to be used with a stroke-like bill of materials considering production costs, setup, storage and delays for operations management. From the analysis of the operations planning obtained from this test bed, it is concluded that a product structure with an alternative process obtains the lowest total cost and the highest service level. In addition, decreasing seasonal demand could present a lower total cost than constant demand, but would generate a worse service level. This test bed will allow researchers further investigation so as to verify improvements in forecast methods, rolling horizons parameters, employed software, etc.Rius-Sorolla, G.; Maheut, J.; Estelles Miguel, S.; García Sabater, JP.
