    Maine Naloxone Distribution Initiative Project-To-Date Totals through September 30, 2022

    In July 2019, the Maine Naloxone Distribution Initiative (MNDI) launched an overdose education, prevention, and naloxone distribution project. Public health and harm reduction partners, known as Tier 1 Distributors, began distributing state-supplied naloxone rescue kits across Maine to clinicians, community partners, and end users. This brief provides information on naloxone distribution and reported overdose reversals by the Tier 1 organizations comprising the MNDI from the initiation of the project through September 2022, with a particular emphasis on the third quarter of 2022. Additionally, subcategories of naloxone distribution from Tier 1 organizations to the Overdose Prevention Through Intensive Outreach Naloxone and Safety (OPTIONS) initiative and syringe services/access programs in 2021 as well as EMS Naloxone Leave Behind Program are provided

    Past Margaret Chase Smith Lecture on Public Affairs\u27 speakers include Donna Shalala, Hodding Carter, John Kenneth Galbraith, Hedrick Smith, Madelin Kunin, and Alan Brinkley. A small endowment to help support the Lectureship was created in 1989 by the Margaret Chase Smith Foundation in honor of Senator Smith\u27s contributions to Maine and the nation. Proceeds from the endowment will be used to help support the Lecture. The Lecture will be held at the Collins Center for the Arts. The audience will include the Stillwater Society, the President\u27s Club, the UMaine Board of Visitors, the UMS Board of Trustees, the Margaret Chase Smith Foundation Board of Directors, Maine government officials and a guest list from Senator Collins. ln addition, the entire campus community will be invited. We hope the Senator\u27s visit can be worked into the classroom. We anticipate that a VIP reception will be held prior to the Lecture and an open reception after the Lecture
