On the T-Odd Quark Fragmentation Function and on Transversal Handedness

    Get PDF
The first probe of the correlation of the T-odd one-particle fragmentation function responsible for the left--right asymmetry of fragmentation of a transversely polarized quark is done by using the 1991-95 DELPHI data for Z2Z\to 2-jet decay. Integrated over the fraction of longitudinal and transversal momenta, this correlation is of 1.5% order, which means order of 13% for the analyzing power. A rather large (10\approx 10%) handedness transversal to the production plane was observed in the diffractive production of (ππ+π\pi^-\pi^+\pi^-) triples from nuclei by the 40GeV/cπ40 GeV/c \pi^---beam. It was shown that the phenomenon has a clear dynamic origin and resembles the single spin asymmetry behavior. All this makes us hope to use this effects in polarized DIS experiments for transversity measurement.Comment: 10 pp, 5 epsfig, Latex 2e, szjp.cls, epsfig.sty, wrapfig.sty included. Position-sensitive detector for the 6-meter optical telescope

The Position-Sensitive Detector (PSD) for photometrical and spectral observation on the 6-meter optical telescope of the Special Astrophysical Observatory (Russia) is described. The PSD consists of a position-sensitive tube, amplifiers of output signals, analog-to-digital converters (ADC) and a digital logic plate, which produces a signal for ADC start and an external strob pulse for reading information by registration system. If necessary, the thermoelectric cooler can be used. The position-sensitive tube has the following main elements: a photocathode, electrodes of inverting optics, a block of microchannel plates (MCP) and a position-sensitive collector of quadrant type. The main parameters of the PSD are the diameter of the sensitive surface is 25 mm, the spatial resolution is better than 100 (\mu)m in the centre and a little worse on the periphery; the dead time is near 0.5 (\mu)s; the detection quantum efficiency is defined by the photocathode and it is not less than 0.1, as a rule; dark current is about hundreds of cps, or less, when cooling. PSD spectral sensitivity depends on the type of photocathode and input window material. We use a multialkali photocathode and a fiber or UV-glass, which gives the short- wave cut of 360 nm or 250 nm, respectively.Comment: 4 pages, 7 figures, to be published in Nuclear Instruments & Methods in Physics Researc

The department is one of the first in our country began to study a new area of management, including research, development of the first textbooks, training programs, the creation of the new training course “knowledge management”, publication of scientific articles and monographs in the new field of management

Phase and Intensity Distributions of Individual Pulses of PSR B0950+08

    Get PDF
The distribution of the intensities of individual pulses of PSR B0950+08 as a function of the longitudes at which they appear is analyzed. The flux density of the pulsar at 111 MHz varies strongly from day to day (by up to a factor of 13) due to the passage of the radiation through the interstellar plasma (interstellar scintillation). The intensities of individual pulses can exceed the amplitude of the mean pulse profile, obtained by accumulating 770 pulses, by more than an order of magnitude. The intensity distribution along the mean profile is very different for weak and strong pulses. The differential distribution function for the intensities is a power law with index n = -1.1 +- 0.06 up to peak flux densities for individual pulses of the order of 160 Jy

The study presents the options for the estimation of soil assimilation rates with carbon regenerating after an anthropogenic influence in the Central Black Earth region of Russia. The evaluation methodology is based on the use of mathematical models of the trend component processes for the humus horizon and humus accumulation development in Forest-Steppe Black Earth area

© 2017 by Academic Publishing. Blended learning is increasingly gaining importance in all levels of educational system, particularly in tertiary education. In engineering profiles the core blended learning activity is students' independent work, the efficiency of which is defined by the degree of students' active involvement into the educational process, their ability to absorb new knowledge independently, on their own. Our research is aimed at the analysis of blended learning and at revealing the approaches meant to activate students' independent work in blended learning based on LMS Moodle platform. The characteristic feature of the suggested approach is the orientation towards skills and work methods mastering carried out in the form of professional competencies training at practical classes and laboratory workshops. For the purpose of our research we used one of the most interactive Moodle tools - "workshop" in order to fulfill informational, educational and monitoring functions of learning. The use of the tool allowed revealing drawbacks of the method under study and managing these drawbacks in the most effective way. The paper contains the description of students' learning and independent work which would stimulate students' activity, self-management and develop their communicative skills. The outcomes of the current research proved that the approaches suggested significantly stir students' interest, thus, enhancing students their learning motivation, development of critical thinking and self-reflection, which altogether facilitate understanding theoretical material, encourage the development of practical skills and promote the pursue of academic goals

© 2015 by the authors. The problem is vitally important today due to the fact that problem-modular training as an effective technology of engineering education should be integrated into the curriculum, however it is implemented in a few disciplines only. The paper is aimed at applying problem-based learning in modular and competence training of bachelor students majoring in engineering. This is meant to develop professional competences in bachelor students that would be adequate for the innovative economy thus putting emphasis on students’ practical activity and evolving their engineering thinking. The design is particularly characterized by systematization of professional training challenges by standardization of production objectives and situations and offering proper solution using group learning methods. The contents of problem-based modules as applicable to bachelors’ academic training is aligned with Federal and State Standards of Higher Professional Education in the Russian Federation in Radio Engineering as well as contents structuring by integrating a number of disciplines. The paper may represent interest for specialists involved in engineering training program design in accordance with the international European standards EUR-ACE aimed at achieving the following learning outcomes: engineering analysis, engineering design, research and practice
