This method consists among other of online discussions between small groups of students and video clips of lectures. The set-up of the course and the ICT-tool used in the course were evaluated for two years through a questionnaire among the students. The results show that the applied e-learning concept is highly appreciated and serves as an effective tool to exchange knowledge

Living Labs als een Vehikel voor (Onderwijs)innovatie

Wereldwijd schieten ze als paddenstoelen uit de grond: living labs. Deze ‘levende laboratoria’ zijn er in alle soorten en maten. Meestal wordt het lab gezien als een onderzoeks- en ontwikkelomgeving om een probleem met verschillende partijen op een innovatieve manier op te lossen. De thema’s van de labs variëren van het ontwerpen van de lichtste boot of de snelste (zonne)auto tot het opnieuw inrichten van een havengebied, halvering van koolstof-uitstoot van het goederenvervoer in steden, nieuwe zorgconcepten of het versterken van de lokale democratie. Beroepen in Transitie: Drie beroepen in beeld: kapitein, wijkverpleegkundige en operations manager ICT

In deze publicatie wordt de invloed van digitalisering op drie beroepen (kapitein, wijkverpleegkundige en manager operations ICT) in beeld gebracht aan de hand van drie portretten. De focus ligt op de veranderingen die plaatsvinden op de werkvloer in het werk dat de beroepsbeoefenaars uitvoeren en de kennis en kunde (21st century skills) die noodzakelijk zijn om het werk te kunnen blijven doen. Een aantal belangrijke conclusies zijn dat het werk complexer wordt, meer coördinatie vereist en meer interactie vereist met de omgeving (klant, cliënt, opdrachtgever). Over ICT valt op dat digitalisering niet alleen van invloed is op de aard van het werk, maar ook op de manier en frequentie van communiceren én op de administratieve en regeldruk. Het heeft een zichzelf versterkend effect. Verder is er veel variatie in hoe en waar men leert. Hierbij speelt ook de aard van het werk een rol. Tenslotte wordt het werk interessanter maar stelt het ook hogere eisen omdat er vele ballen ind e lucht moeten worden gehouden. The techno-entrepreneur of the future: Perspectives and Practices

Present sustainability problems require a new type of techno-entrepreneurship, in which traditional entrepreneurial qualities are combined with new capabilities related to the role, mission and responsibilities of future engineers. There are two sources of these new capabilities: Innovation Systems of which engineer-entrepreneurs are architects and the demands of Sustainable Development. The Functions of Innovation Systems approach distinguishes seven functions which are crucial in transforming niche innovations into successful business and mainstream system innovations and transitions: Entrepreneurial activities, Knowledge development, Knowledge diffusion through networks, Guidance of the search, Market formation, Resources mobilization and Creation of legitimacy/counteract resistance to change. Sustainable entrepreneurship could be based on the characteristics of Natural Capitalism: increasing natural resources productivity, Bio mimicry, a Service Business Model and investing in natural capital. All these functions and characteristics involve knowledge, insight and capabilities, which should belong to the basic equipment of sustainability problem-solving engineers. The question is how to educate and facilitate these new engineers? The paper will deal with this question in relation to training and coaching programs of university supported incubators, focusing on sustainability. The activities of Delft University of Technology aimed at promoting entrepreneurship among engineering students and stimulating techno-starters, both through the academic courses of the Delft Centre for Entrepreneurship and the incubators of Yes!Delft and Dnamo; both incubators will be subject of research. Models of entrepreneurship and programs of training and support will be assessed from a sustainability perspective, on the basis of which suggestions will be done to improve the entrepreneurial capabilities of future engineers.Technology, Policy and Managemen
