    Technical Report for Argoverse Challenges on 4D Occupancy Forecasting

    This report presents our Le3DE2E_Occ solution for 4D Occupancy Forecasting in Argoverse Challenges at CVPR 2023 Workshop on Autonomous Driving (WAD). Our solution consists of a strong LiDAR-based Bird's Eye View (BEV) encoder with temporal fusion and a two-stage decoder, which combines a DETR head and a UNet decoder. The solution was tested on the Argoverse 2 sensor dataset to evaluate the occupancy state 3 seconds in the future. Our solution achieved 18% lower L1 Error (3.57) than the baseline and got the 1 place on the 4D Occupancy Forecasting task in Argoverse Challenges at CVPR 2023

    Due to the continuous rise in biofilm-related infections, biofilms seriously threaten human health. The formation of biofilms makes conventional antibiotics ineffective and dampens immune clearance. Therefore, it is important to understand the mechanisms of biofilm formation and develop novel strategies to treat biofilms more effectively. This review article begins with an introduction to biofilm formation in various clinical scenarios and their corresponding therapy. Established biofilm models used in research are then summarized. The potential targets which may assist in the development of new strategies for combating biofilms are further discussed. The novel technologies developed recently for the prevention and treatment of biofilms including antimicrobial surface coatings, physical removal of biofilms, development of new antimicrobial molecules, and delivery of antimicrobial agents are subsequently presented. Finally, directions for future studies are pointed out

    Identification CCL2,CXCR2,S100A9 of the immune-related gene markers and immune infiltration characteristics of inflammatory bowel disease and heart failure via bioinformatics analysis and machine learning

    BackgroundRecently, heart failure (HF) and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) have been considered to be related diseases with increasing incidence rates; both diseases are related to immunity. This study aims to analyze and identify immune-related gene (IRG) markers of HF and IBD through bioinformatics and machine learning (ML) methods and to explore their immune infiltration characteristics.MethodsThis study used gene expressiondata (GSE120895, GSE21610, GSE4183) from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database to screen differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and compare them with IRGs from the ImmPort database to obtain differentially expressed immune-related genes (DIRGs). Functional enrichment analysis of IRGs was performed using Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG). Subsequently, three machine models and protein–protein interactions (PPIs) were established to identify diagnostic biomarkers. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were applied to evaluate the diagnostic value of the candidate biomarkersin the validation set (GSE1145, GSE36807) and obtain their correlations with immune cells through the Spearman algorithm. Finally, the CIBERSORT algorithm was used to evaluate the immune cell infiltration of the two diseases.ResultsThirty-four DIRGs were screened and GO and KEGG analysis results showed that these genes are mainly related to inflammatory and immune responses. CCL2, CXCR2 and S100A9 were identified as biomarkers.The immune correlation results indicated in both diseases that CCL2 is positively correlated with mast cell activation, CXCR2 is positively correlated with neutrophils and S100A9 is positively correlated with neutrophils and mast cell activation. Analysis of immune characteristics showed that macrophages M2, macrophages M0 and neutrophils were present in both diseases.ConclusionsCCL2, CXCR2 and S100A9 are promising biomarkers that will become potential immunogenetic biomarkers for diagnosing comorbidities of HF and IBD. macrophages M2, macrophages M0, neutrophil-mediated inflammation and immune regulation play important roles in the development of HF and IBD and may become diagnostic and therapeutic targets

    MEMD-ABSA: A Multi-Element Multi-Domain Dataset for Aspect-Based Sentiment Analysis

    Aspect-based sentiment analysis is a long-standing research interest in the field of opinion mining, and in recent years, researchers have gradually shifted their focus from simple ABSA subtasks to end-to-end multi-element ABSA tasks. However, the datasets currently used in the research are limited to individual elements of specific tasks, usually focusing on in-domain settings, ignoring implicit aspects and opinions, and with a small data scale. To address these issues, we propose a large-scale Multi-Element Multi-Domain dataset (MEMD) that covers the four elements across five domains, including nearly 20,000 review sentences and 30,000 quadruples annotated with explicit and implicit aspects and opinions for ABSA research. Meanwhile, we evaluate generative and non-generative baselines on multiple ABSA subtasks under the open domain setting, and the results show that open domain ABSA as well as mining implicit aspects and opinions remain ongoing challenges to be addressed.     A retrospective comparative study on the diagnostic efficacy and the complications: between CassiII rotational core biopsy and core needle biopsy

    Accurate pathologic diagnosis and molecular classification of breast mass biopsy tissue is important for determining individualized therapy for (neo)adjuvant systemic therapies for invasive breast cancer. The CassiII rotational core biopsy system is a novel biopsy technique with a guide needle and a “stick-freeze” technology. The comprehensive assessments including the concordance rates of diagnosis and biomarker status between CassiII and core needle biopsy were evaluated in this study. Estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PgR), human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2), and Ki67 were analyzed through immunohistochemistry. In total, 655 patients with breast cancer who underwent surgery after biopsy at Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital between January 2019 to December 2021 were evaluated. The concordance rates (CRs) of malignant surgical specimens with CassiII needle biopsy was significantly high compared with core needle biopsy. Moreover, CassiII needle biopsy had about 20% improvement in sensitivity and about 5% improvement in positive predictive value compared to Core needle biopsy. The characteristics including age and tumor size were identified the risk factors for pathological inconsistencies with core needle biopsies. However, CassiII needle biopsy was associated with tumor diameter only. The CRs of ER, PgR, HER2, and Ki67 using Cassi needle were 98.08% (kappa, 0.941; p<.001), 90.77% (kappa, 0.812; p<.001), 69.62% (kappa, 0.482; p<.001), and 86.92% (kappa, 0.552; p<.001), respectively. Post-biopsy complications with CassiII needle biopsy were also collected. The complications of CassiII needle biopsy including chest stuffiness, pain and subcutaneous ecchymosis are not rare. The underlying mechanism of subcutaneous congestion or hematoma after CassiII needle biopsy might be the larger needle diameter and the effect of temperature on coagulation function. In summary, CassiII needle biopsy is age-independent and has a better accuracy than CNB for distinguishing carcinoma in situ and invasive carcinoma

    Prevalence and Prognostic Significance of HPV in Laryngeal Squamous Cell Carcinoma in Northeast China

    Background/Aims: Human papillomavirus (HPV) is an etiological risk factor for a subset of head and neck squamous cell carcinomas. HPV has been proven to be a powerful prognostic biomarker for oropharyngeal cancer, but its role in the larynx has not been explored in depth. Here, we sought to evaluate the prevalence and genotype distribution of HPV in patients with laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) in northeast China. Methods: HPV DNA in specimens from 211 patients diagnosed with LSCC was analyzed by the polymerase chain reaction and in situ hybridization, and p16 overexpression was evaluated by immunohistochemistry. p16 expression was scored positive if strong and diffuse nuclear and cytoplasmic staining was present in > 75% of tumor cells. Results: In this study, infection with HPV and p16 expression were not absolutely consistent. Among all patients, 132 (62.6%) were positive for HPV DNA (HPV+), while 23 (10.9%) were inconsistent for HPV and p16. Multivariate analysis indicated that HPV, but not p16, is an independent prognostic factor for overall survival in LSCC. Overall survival was significantly improved in HPV+ LSCC patients compared with the HPV-negative group (hazard ratio, 0.395; 95% confidence interval, 0.185–0.843; p = 0.016). Among the 132 HPV+ patients, 28 (21.2%) were HPV-16 single infection. Conclusion: This study indicates that HPV DNA is a more reliable surrogate marker than p16 for the prediction of survival in patients with LSCC

    β-Elemene Piperazine Derivatives Induce Apoptosis in Human Leukemia Cells through Downregulation of c-FLIP and Generation of ROS

    β-Elemene is an active component of the herb medicine Curcuma Wenyujin with reported antitumor activity. To improve its antitumor ability, five novel piperazine derivatives of β-elemene, 13-(3-methyl-1-piperazinyl)-β-elemene (DX1), 13-(cis-3,5-dimethyl-1-piperazinyl)-β-elemene (DX2), 13-(4-ethyl-1-piperazinyl)-β-elemene (DX3), 13-(4-isopropyl-1-piperazinyl)-β-elemene (DX4) and 13-piperazinyl-β-elemene (DX5), were synthesized. The antiproliferative and apoptotic effects of these derivatives were determined in human leukemia HL-60, NB4, K562 and HP100-1 cells. DX1, DX2 and DX5, which contain a secondary amino moiety, were more active in inhibiting cell growth and in inducing apoptosis than DX3 and DX4. The apoptosis induction ability of DX1 was associated with the generation of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), a decrease of mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP), and the activation of caspase-8. Pretreatment with the antioxidants N-acetylcysteine and catalase completely blocked DX1-induced H2O2 production, but only partially its activation of caspase-8 and induction of apoptosis. HL-60 cells were more sensitive than its H2O2-resistant subclone HP100-1 cells to DX1-induced apoptosis. The activation of caspase-8 by these compounds was correlated with the decrease in the levels of cellular FLICE-inhibitory protein (c-FLIP). The proteasome inhibitor MG-132 augmented the decrease in c-FLIP levels and apoptosis induced by these derivatives. FADD- and caspase-8-deficient Jurkat subclones have a decreased response to DX1-induced apoptosis. Our data indicate that these novel β-elemene piperazine derivatives induce apoptosis through the decrease in c-FLIP levels and the production of H2O2 which leads to activation of both death receptor- and mitochondrial-mediated apoptotic pathways

    A SPectroscopic Survey of Biased Halos in the Reionization Era (ASPIRE): JWST Reveals a Filamentary Structure around a z = 6.61 Quasar

This program represents an imaging and spectroscopic survey of 25 reionization-era quasars and their environments by utilizing the unprecedented capabilities of NIRCam Wide Field Slitless Spectroscopy (WFSS) mode. ASPIRE will deliver the largest ( ∼280arcmin2 ) galaxy redshift survey at 3–4 μm among JWST Cycle 1 programs and provide extensive legacy values for studying the formation of the earliest supermassive black holes, the assembly of galaxies, early metal enrichment, and cosmic reionization. In this first ASPIRE paper, we report the discovery of a filamentary structure traced by the luminous quasar J0305–3150 and 10 [O iii] emitters at z = 6.6. This structure has a 3D galaxy overdensity of δ gal = 12.6 over 637 cMpc3, one of the most overdense structures known in the early universe, and could eventually evolve into a massive galaxy cluster. Together with existing VLT/MUSE and ALMA observations of this field, our JWST observations reveal that J0305–3150 traces a complex environment where both UV-bright and dusty galaxies are present and indicate that the early evolution of galaxies around the quasar is not simultaneous. In addition, we discovered 31 [O iii] emitters in this field at other redshifts, 5.3 < z < 6.7, with half of them situated at z ∼ 5.4 and 6.2. This indicates that star-forming galaxies, such as [O iii] emitters, are generally clustered at high redshifts. These discoveries demonstrate the unparalleled redshift survey capabilities of NIRCam WFSS and the potential of the full ASPIRE survey data set.Peer reviewe
