In India, Economic Reforms has been explicitly started in 1991. Even with some controversy in the initial period now it intruded in almost all the sectors. At present days economic reforms is mingled with every sphere of economic activities. But the effects of economic reforms are highly debatable.Social sector is an important ingredient for over all development of a country. Development of social sector reveals the standard of living of people as well as the volume and potential of human resource in a country. Hence the analysis of economic reforms and its impact on social sector is imperative. This paper analysis poverty and health status during pre-reforms and post-reforms periods and compare them to find out that during which period the decrease in poverty and the increase in health status are better. For the analysis of poverty, people living below poverty line and for health status analysis life expectancy at birth and infant mortality are used in this study.Economic Reforms, Social Sector, Poverty, Health, Below Poverty Line, Life Expectancy at Birth, Infant Mortality Rate, India.

Dense clustered multi-channel wireless sensor cloud

Dense Wireless Sensor Network Clouds have an inherent issue of latency and packet drops with regards to data collection. Though there is extensive literature that tries to address these issues through either scheduling, channel contention or a combination of the two, the problem still largely exists. In this paper, a Clustered Multi-Channel Scheduling Protocol (CMSP) is designed that creates a Voronoi partition of a dense network. Each partition is assigned a channel, and a scheduling scheme is adopted to collect data within the Voronoi partitions. This scheme collects data from the partitions concurrently and then passes it to the base station. CMSP is compared using simulation with other multi-channel protocols like Tree-based Multi-Channel, Multi-Channel MAC and Multi-frequency Media Access Control for wireless sensor networks. Results indicate CMSP has higher throughput and data delivery ratio at a lower power consumption due to network partitioning and hierarchical scheduling that minimizes load on the network

Durability Evaluation in Concrete Using Cracked Permeability and Chloride Permeability Tests

    Get PDF
The objective of this study is to identify the possibilities of utilizing the quarry dust in concrete to obtain an improved strength and durability properties of concrete. In the present study, the addition of quarry dust as alternative for natural sand has been investigated, and the durability properties of concrete were evaluated systematically by means of cracked water permeability and rapid chloride permeability tests. The permeability of concrete was assessed with initial stress applied to the concrete specimen and later checked for water permeability. Concrete mixes were casted using ordinary river sand and compared with 100% quarry dust substituted concrete. The addition of quarry dust significantly improved the concrete matrix properties in terms of strength and permeability resistance. The addition of fine quarry dust in concrete resulted in improved matrix densification compared to conventional concrete. Matrix densification has been studied qualitatively through petrographical examination using digital optical microscopy

The Impact Of Liberalization On Foreign Direct Investment In The Slovak Republic

Czechoslovakia became a “non-nation” in January 1993. The creation of the Czech and Slovak Republics resulted in two unique and distinct societies which moved in different economic directions. While the Czech Republic prospered within the first six years, the same could not be said for Slovakia. For the first six years, Slovakia’s economic growth was stifled due to factors of economic and financial repression. As a result of the political changes, financial liberalization began to emerge and, as a result, economic progress. As pronounced were the effects of repression, so too were the effects of liberalization. To truly understand the impact upon the society, the change must be viewed from the viewpoint of foreign direct investment. The factors which limited FDI due to their repressive nature, were now being replaced with factors that encouraged and expanded FDI within the Slovak nation. As a result of a complete turnaround transformation, Slovakia is now on a course to sustain and expand economic development through increased FDI. To understand the overall transformation that occurred within the Slovak Republic, one needs to define the factors that create financial repression and the liberalization factors that move an economy in a different direction. The determinants of foreign direct investment (FDI) must be examined along with the transition from repression to liberalization
