    A Study on Cultural Sustainable Tourism in Context of Painted Scrolls

    India is known for its reach in Art and Culture. Cultural tourism provides a major contribution to the development of the country from different aspects. Apart from supporting the Indian economy, cultural tourism also helps in preserving and developing unique art traditions which are slowly dying out due to negligence. patachitra, the painted scroll of Bengal is one of them. The patachitra tradition is an essential part of intangible heritage based on tour practices. Patuas, as they are known as a community, chiefly represent a group of artists wandering with their painted scrolls and narrating the stories from place to place to earn their livelihood. The patachitra is a platform where several mediums of communication are united such as visual messages, oral traditions and music during process of storytelling. These painted scrolls represent narration of Hindu mythologies as well as folklore. In this regard, considering business as one of the purposes of tour, this research about patua artists working for patachitra in West Bengal is an attempt to reveal the fact that artifacts, as a part of culture, and tourism are two sides of the same coin.     Study of maternal and fetal outcome in twin pregnancy

    Background: Multiple pregnancies are associated with an increased risk of obstetric complications as well as perinatal morbidity and mortality especially in developing countries. The present study aims to understand the maternal and perinatal outcomes of multiple and singleton pregnancies delivering at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, Ranchi, India. Aim of study was to investigate the maternal and fetal outcome in twin pregnancies in Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), RanchiMethods: This comparative prospective study was conducted in the department of obstetrics and gynecology, Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, Ranchi from the period of 1st April 2015 to 30th September 2016. Consecutive sampling was done till the sample size of 75 was reached for both twin and singleton pregnancies. It included all women admitted in antenatal ward and labor room with clinical or ultrasound diagnosis of twin pregnancy after 28 weeks of gestation.Results: The incidence of twins in this study was 1.85%. Mean maternal age was 25.25±4.5 years for twin pregnancies and 23.53 ± 3.3 for singleton pregnancies. Twins were seen more in multigravida (70.7%) as compared to primigravida (29.3%). Preterm labor (74.7%), anemia (44%) and hypertensive disorders (32%) and PPH (13.33%) were the most common complication in twin pregnancies. Significantly higher rate of LSCS were seen in twin pregnancies (32.67%) as compared to singletons 18.67%. Mean weight of first twin was 2.03±0.52kg and for second twin it was 1.98±0.51kg. There was higher incidence of moderate to severe asphyxia, IUGR and higher rate of NICU admissions in twins as compared to singletons. Perinatal mortality rate of monchrionic pregnancy was 30% and it was 10.2% for dichorionic pregnancy which shows a significant association of perinatal mortality rate and chorionicity.Conclusions: Good antenatal care, with increased rest and nutritional supplementation, early detection of fetal and maternal complications together with thorough intranatal and postnatal vigilance, can lower both maternal and fetal dangers

    Advanced abdominal pregnancy with a healthy newborn: a rare case report

    Abdominal pregnancy is a rare form of extra-uterine gestation where implantation occurs within peritoneal cavity, but outside fallopian tubes and ovaries. Abdominal pregnancies account for 1% of ectopic pregnancies. Advanced abdominal pregnancy with healthy fetus, surviving upto term is extremely rare. We report an advanced abdominal pregnancy which was referred from a private hospital as a case of central placenta praevia, severe oligohydramnios with 8 months pregnancy and loss of foetal moment and breech presentation. Intra operatively it was diagnosed as a case of abdominal pregnancy. We delivered a LBW (2 kg) baby from abdomen. Post-operative period was uneventful and both mother and baby were doing well at the time of discharge

    Caracterização da atividade moluscicida dos extratos das plantas Bauhinia variegata e Mimusops elengi contra o vetor da Fasciola, Lymnaea acuminata

    A atividade moluscicida das folhas da Bauhinia variegata e da casca do Mimusops elengi foi testada contra o vetor caracol, Limnaea acuminata. A toxicidade de ambas as plantas é dependente do tempo e da concentração. Entre os extratos orgùnicos, os extratos de etanol de ambas as plantas foi mais tóxico. A toxicidade do extrato etanólico da folha da B. variegata (96 h LC50 - 14,4 mg/L) foi mais pronunciada do que o extrato etanólico da casca do M. elengi (96h - LC50 - 15,0 mg/L). As fraçÔes purificadas em coluna durante 24 h LC50 do B. variegata e da casca do M. elengi foram 20,3 mg/L e 18,3 mg/L, respectivamente. A saponina e a quercentina foram caracterizadas e identificadas como os componentes ativos moluscicidas. A co-migração da saponina (Rf 0,48) e da quercentina (Rf 0,52) com a casca purificada por coluna do M. elengi e as folhas da B. variegata na cromatografia demonstraram o mesmo valor Rf isto é, 0,48 e 0,52 respectivamente. O presente estudo indica claramente a possibilidade de usar M. elengi e/ou B. variegata como moluscicidas potentes.The molluscicidal activity of Bauhinia variegata leaf and Mimusops elengi bark was studied against vector snail Lymnaea acuminata. The toxicity of both plants was time and concentration-dependent. Among organic extracts, ethanol extracts of both plants were more toxic. Toxicity of B. variegata leaf ethanolic extract (96h LC50- 14.4 mg/L) was more pronounced than M. elengi bark ethanolic extract (96h LC50-15.0 mg/L). The 24h LC50 of column purified fraction of B. variegata and M. elengi bark were 20.3 mg/L and 18.3 mg/L, respectively. Saponin and quercetin were characterized and identified as active molluscicidal component. Co-migration of saponin (Rf 0.48) and quercetin (Rf 0.52) with column purified bark of M. elengi and leaf of B. variegata on thin layer chromatography demonstrate same Rf value i.e. 0.48 and 0.52, respectively. The present study clearly indicates the possibility of using M. elengi and/or B. variegata as potent molluscicide

    A Survey of Growth and Development Issues of the Pacific Islands

    This paper is a survey of some key variables with an international dimension and implications for growth and development policies in selected Pacific island countries. Results from a simple growth accounting exercise show that factor accumulation is the most dominant growth factor and that the contribution of total factor productivity is negligible. Therefore, increasing the investment rate to improve growth rate is a pragmatic medium-term policy option. Further, econometric analysis shows that foreign aid has a negligible effect on output and growth in Fiji, Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea.macroeconomic analyses, economic growth, development issues, Pacific islands

    Revisiting the Gleason-Kahane-$\dot{\text{Z}

    This paper presents a fairly general version of the well-known Gleason-Kahane-Z˙\dot{\text{Z}}elazko (GKZ) theorem in the spirit of a GKZ type theorem obtained recently by Mashreghi and Ransford for Banach spaces. In effect, we characterize a class of linear functionals as point evaluations on the vector space of all polynomials \cl P. We do not make any topological assumptions on \cl P. We then apply this characterization to present a version of the GKZ theorem for a class of metric spaces of complex-valued functions on an open disc centered at the origin. We obtain this result under the assumption of continuity of the linear functional, which we show, with the help of an example, to be a necessary condition for the desired conclusion. Lastly, we use the GKZ theorem for polynomials to obtain a version of the GKZ theorem for weighted Hardy spaces on which the operator of multiplication with the coordinate function zz is strictly cyclic

    Crystallization of Simple Fluids: Relative Stability of f.c.c. and b.c.c Structures

    A free-energy functional for a crystal that contains both the symmetry conserved and symmetry broken parts of the direct pair correlation function is developed. The free-energy functional is used to investigate the crystallization of fluids interacting via the inverse power potential ; u(r)=Ï”(σ/r)nu(r)=\epsilon {(\sigma/r)}^n. In agreement with simulation results we find that for n=12n=12 the freezing is into close packed f.c.c structure while for soft repulsions (n≀6)(n\leq 6) b.c.c phase is more stable.Comment: 9 pages, 2 figure

    SMDDH: Singleton Mention detection using Deep Learning in Hindi Text

    Mention detection is an important component of coreference resolution system, where mentions such as name, nominal, and pronominals are identified. These mentions can be purely coreferential mentions or singleton mentions (non-coreferential mentions). Coreferential mentions are those mentions in a text that refer to the same entities in a real world. Whereas, singleton mentions are mentioned only once in the text and do not participate in the coreference as they are not mentioned again in the following text. Filtering of these singleton mentions can substantially improve the performance of a coreference resolution process. This paper proposes a singleton mention detection module based on a fully connected network and a Convolutional neural network for Hindi text. This model utilizes a few hand-crafted features and context information, and word embedding for words. The coreference annotated Hindi dataset comprising of 3.6K sentences, and 78K tokens are used for the task. In terms of Precision, Recall, and F-measure, the experimental findings obtained are excellent

    Free-energy functional for freezing transitions: Hard sphere systems freezing into crystalline and amorphous structures

    A free-energy functional that contains both the symmetry conserved and symmetry broken parts of the direct pair correlation function has been used to investigate the freezing of a system of hard spheres into crystalline and amorphous structures. The freezing parameters for fluid-crystal transition have been found to be in very good agreement with the results found from simulations. We considered amorphous structures found from the molecular dynamics simulations at packing fractions η\eta lower than the glass close packing fraction ηJ\eta_{J} and investigated their stability compared to that of a homogeneous fluid. The existence of free-energy minimum corresponding to a density distribution of overlapping Gaussians centered around an amorphous lattice depicts the deeply supercooled state with a heterogeneous density profile
