Marion County is situated in south-central Iowa in the third tier of counties north of the Iowa-Missouri line. Knoxville, the county seat and largest town, is located 38 miles southeast of Des Moines, the state capital, and 51 miles northwest of Ottumwa. With the exception of 55 square miles in the northeastern corner, all of the county lies within the drainage basin of the Des Moines River. The region is a part of a loess-mantled drift plain, once apparently level over extensive areas but now generally rolling because of the dissection of the older land surface by streams. Ida County is situated in the northwestern part of Iowa, lying in the second tier of counties east of the Missouri River and in the fourth tier south of the Iowa-Minnesota line. Ida Grove, the county seat and largest town, is 50 miles east and a little south of Sioux City, 80 miles northeast of Council Bluffs and 110 miles northwest of Des Moines. The county lies in the eastern part of a rolling, loess-covered plain which, in places, reaches a width of 100 miles along the western boundary of Iowa. All of Ida County lies within the drainage basin of the Missouri River, and the major part of the county is drained by the Maple River and its tributaries

Les comportements face au VIH et autres IST des travailleuses et travailleurs du sexe en Suisse : EnquĂȘte SWAN 2016
Pour la premiĂšre fois en 2016, une enquĂȘte a Ă©tĂ© menĂ©e auprĂšs des travailleuses et des travailleurs du sexe (TS) exerçant en Suisse. Cette Ă©tude, nommĂ©e SWAN (Sex Workers ANswers), sâinscrit dans le dispositif de surveillance du VIH et des autres IST en Suisse, Ă©tabli par lâOffice fĂ©dĂ©ral de la santĂ© publique. Les critĂšres dâinclusion pour participer Ă cette enquĂȘte comprenaient toute personne (hommes, femmes, personnes transgenres et intersexe) ayant 18 ans ou plus et ayant eu des rapports sexuels en Ă©change dâargent au cours des douze mois prĂ©cĂ©dent lâenquĂȘte en Suisse.
Deux stratĂ©gies complĂ©mentaires dâadministration du questionnaire ont Ă©tĂ© mises en Ćuvre : un questionnaire Internet auto-administrĂ© et un questionnaire disponible sur une tablette numĂ©rique administrĂ© soit en face-Ă -face soit par les TS seul-e-s. Le questionnaire Ă©tait entiĂšrement anonyme et les donnĂ©es ont Ă©tĂ© traitĂ©es de maniĂšre confidentielle. Le risque dâĂȘtre confrontĂ© Ă la violence ou Ă des comportements agressifs concerne aussi les professionnel-le-s en contact avec des personnes atteintes dans leur santĂ©, Ă domicile ou en institution. Des enquĂȘtes menĂ©es dans les Ă©tablissements mĂ©dico-sociaux (EMS) ou auprĂšs des professionnel-le-s du maintien Ă domicile, Ă lâĂ©tranger et en Suisse rapportent des taux relativement Ă©levĂ©s dâexposition Ă la violence chez les soignant-e-s. Coherent virtual absorption of light in microring resonators
Light trapping and radiation process from linear reciprocal photonic
resonators is one of the fundamental processes in optical science and
engineering. Recently, the concept of coherent virtual absorption (CVA) of
light was introduced and investigated for planar and cylindrical optical
structures. The key feature of CVA is that by engineering the time-dependence
of the excitation waveform, one can temporarily store all the input energy into
the optical structure without any leakage. Here we further explore this novel
concept in integrated photonic setups made of microring resonators. By using
coupled-mode theory (CMT), we derive an analytical expression for CVA in this
platform. This in turn allows us to make the connection with the notion of
coherent perfect absorption (CPA) as well as extending our analysis to active
resonators (having optical gain). We next provide a physical insight into this
process by using a simple model made of cascaded beam splitters. Importantly,
we confirm our results using a full-wave analysis of realistic material
systems. Finally, we discuss the limitation on the CVA process due to waveform
mismatch and nonlinear effects
Design of a miniature hydrogen fueled gas turbine engine
The design, development, and delivery of a miniature hydrogen-fueled gas turbine engine are discussed. The engine was to be sized to approximate a scaled-down lift engine such as the teledyne CAE model 376. As a result, the engine design emerged as a 445N(100 lb.)-thrust engine flowing 0.86 kg (1.9 lbs.) air/sec. A 4-stage compressor was designed at a 4.0 to 1 pressure ratio for the above conditions. The compressor tip diameter was 9.14 cm (3.60 in.). To improve overall engine performance, another compressor with a 4.75 to 1 pressure ratio at the same tip diameter was designed. A matching turbine for each compressor was also designed. The turbine tip diameter was 10.16 cm (4.0 in.). A combustion chamber was designed, built, and tested for this engine. A preliminary design of the mechanical rotating parts also was completed and is discussed. Three exhaust nozzle designs are presented
