Using history to help refine international business theory: ownership advantages and the eclectic paradigm.
In John Dunning’s eclectic paradigm firms need to have ownership, location, and internalisation advantages in order to cross borders and engage in foreign direct investment. By drawing on historical evidence on the evolution of a group of leading marketing-based multinationals in consumer goods, this paper claims that, despite its richness, the eclectic paradigm, and in particular the concept of ‘ownership advantages’, needs to be revised and extended, to take into account different levels of institutional analysis. For the eclectic paradigm to give a rounded view of the internationalising firm it needs to acknowledge the critical importance of firm-specific ownership advantages such as the role of the entrepreneur
Heavy ion collisions at intermediate energies in a quark-gluon exchange framework
Heavy ion collisions at intermediate energies can be studied in the context
of the Vlasov-Uehling-Uhlenbeck (VUU) model. One of the main features in this
model is the nucleon-nucleon (NN) cross section in the collisional term. Quark
interchange plays a role in the NN interaction and its effect can be observed
in the cross section. We explore the possibility that quark interchange effects

Ripples and Grains Segregation on Unpaved Road
Ripples or corrugations are common phenomena observed in unpaved roads in
less developed countries or regions. They cause several damages in vehicles
leading to increased maintenance and product costs. In this paper, we present a
computational study about the so-called washboard roads. Also, we study grain
segregation on unpaved roads. Our simulations have been performed by the
Discrete Element Method (DEM). In our model, the grains are regarded as soft
disks. The grains are subjected to a gravitational field and both translational
and rotational movements are allowed. The results show that wheels' of
different sizes, weights and moving with different velocities can change
corrugations amplitude and wavelength. Our results also show that some
wavelength values are related to specific wheels' speed intervals. Segregation
has been studied in roads formed by three distinct grain diameters
distribution. We observed that the phenomenon is more evident for higher grain
size dispersion
Meson decay in the Fock-Tani Formalism
The Fock-Tani formalism is a first principle method to obtain effective
interactions from microscopic Hamiltonians. Usually this formalism was applied
to scattering, here we introduced it to calculate partial decay widths for

Meson decay in a corrected model
Extensively applied to both light and heavy meson decay and standing as one
of the most successful strong decay models is the model, in which
pair production is the dominant mechanism. The pair production can
be obtained from the non-relativistic limit of a microscopic interaction
Hamiltonian involving Dirac quark fields. The evaluation of the decay amplitude
can be performed by a diagrammatic technique for drawing quark lines. In this
paper we use an alternative approach which consists in a mapping technique, the
Fock-Tani formalism, in order to obtain an effective Hamiltonian starting from
same microscopic interaction. An additional effect is manifest in this
formalism associated to the extended nature of mesons: bound-state corrections.
