Internacionalização e adaptação de graduandas/egressas do curso de enfermagem em mobilidade acadêmica internacional

Objetivo: Compreender o processo de adaptação e as repercussões da internacionalização para graduandos e egressos do curso de Enfermagem que vivenciaram a mobilidade acadêmica internacional. Método: Estudo qualitativo, realizado por meio de entrevistas semiestruturadas, com oito ex-intercambistas do programa brasileiro Ciência sem Fronteiras, de cursos de enfermagem de Instituições de Educação Superior de diferentes localidades brasileiras. As entrevistas foram realizadas via videoconferência, as quais foram gravadas para posterior transcrição. Os dados foram analisados pela técnica do Discurso do Sujeito Coletivo. Resultados: Emergiram cinco discursos: adaptação na Austrália; apoio ao estudante; estilos de vida e comportamento; diversidade cultural e comparação do sistema de saúde e da enfermagem entre Brasil e Austrália. As diferentes culturas possibilitaram a reflexão sobre o contexto multi e interculturais vivenciados, reforçando seus potenciais para a formação profissional e humana. Conclusão: A experiência com o intercâmbio representou um marco transformador, com impactos na vida pessoal e na formação profissional

The Family Relationships When Dealing With a Chronic Disease: The Family Caregiver Viewpoint / Relações Familiares Vivenciadas no Percurso da Doença Crônica: O Olhar do Cuidador Familiar

Objetivo: Identificar como se configuram as relações familiares entre cuidador e demais membros da família. Metodologia: Estudo qualitativo realizado com seis cuidadores familiares de doentes crônicos. Para coleta das informações usou-se entrevista, originado duas categorias: Impacto afetivo nas relações familiares expressas pelo cuidador familiar e Impacto social no cotidiano da vida do cuidador. Resultados: Quatro cuidadores eram mulheres e dois homens, sendo duas filhas, dois cônjuges, um pai e uma nora. Identificou-se que as relações familiares se modificam durante o percurso da doença, com tendência a se vulnerabilizar mesmo na existência de laços afetivos anteriores ao evento. Identificou-se ainda, o sofrimento do cuidador relacionado ao afastamento dos familiares no processo de cuidar, sentindo-se só, o que gera isolamento social. Considerações finais: Cuidar do familiar em casa constitui em uma atitude familiar saudável; todavia, requer assistência ininterrupta, sendo assim, há necessidade de auxílio, compartilhamento das responsabilidades frente o processo de cuidar.

The pharmacist’s role on transgender care: findings from a literature review

Transgender is a broad-spectrum term referring to people who do not match their assigned sex at birth. Several issues, including social detachment, poor access to healthcare services, and the lack of social/economic opportunities, have historically affected this population. In this scenario, pharmacists - not mentioned in national and international clinical guidelines/protocols regarding transgender care - might be key professionals to serve and care for this population. The main goal of this literature review was to identify the pharmacists’ role in the care of transgender people. The articles were retrieved from scientific databases. After applying filters (e.g., language, full-text availability, and coverage of the research question), seven articles were included in this review. The articles did not present pharmaceutical experiences or practices regarding transgender healthcare. Instead, some articles stressed the inadequate or inappropriate use of hormones and their side effects, also covering the role of this issue in professional development, gaps, and potential opportunities for research and pharmaceutical services. Pharmacists, included in a multi-professional team, could be a key element to promote access to healthcare and the well-being of the transgender population

NEOTROPICAL CARNIVORES: a data set on carnivore distribution in the Neotropics

Mammalian carnivores are considered a key group in maintaining ecological health and can indicate potential ecological integrity in landscapes where they occur. Carnivores also hold high conservation value and their habitat requirements can guide management and conservation plans. The order Carnivora has 84 species from 8 families in the Neotropical region: Canidae; Felidae; Mephitidae; Mustelidae; Otariidae; Phocidae; Procyonidae; and Ursidae. Herein, we include published and unpublished data on native terrestrial Neotropical carnivores (Canidae; Felidae; Mephitidae; Mustelidae; Procyonidae; and Ursidae). NEOTROPICAL CARNIVORES is a publicly available data set that includes 99,605 data entries from 35,511 unique georeferenced coordinates. Detection/non-detection and quantitative data were obtained from 1818 to 2018 by researchers, governmental agencies, non-governmental organizations, and private consultants. Data were collected using several methods including camera trapping, museum collections, roadkill, line transect, and opportunistic records. Literature (peer-reviewed and grey literature) from Portuguese, Spanish and English were incorporated in this compilation. Most of the data set consists of detection data entries (n = 79,343; 79.7%) but also includes non-detection data (n = 20,262; 20.3%). Of those, 43.3% also include count data (n = 43,151). The information available in NEOTROPICAL CARNIVORES will contribute to macroecological, ecological, and conservation questions in multiple spatio-temporal perspectives. As carnivores play key roles in trophic interactions, a better understanding of their distribution and habitat requirements are essential to establish conservation management plans and safeguard the future ecological health of Neotropical ecosystems. Our data paper, combined with other large-scale data sets, has great potential to clarify species distribution and related ecological processes within the Neotropics.
