Get PDFTHE FISHPOOL in Heshbon. During the third season of excavations at Heshbon, we uncovered a most intriguing Iron Age structure in Area B on the shelf just below the acropolis. About 30 feet under- neath the present surface and under a 15-foot-deep fill, containing mainly pottery of the Iron H Age and the Persian period, a layer of plaster one foot thick was discovered almost as hard as concrete
