The Impact of the Affordable Care Act on the Low-Income Population

    Get PDF
This paper will provide a detailed analysis on the reasons why affordable healthcare should be provided without question and the benefits that it has brought over the past few years. I have used a combination of case studies and scholarly articles to analyze the changes in healthcare access after the implementation of healthcare policies, specifically the Affordable Care Act (ACA), as well as the hardships and negative consequences that low-income individuals face as a result of difficult accessibility. This paper will begin by introducing the ACA and the evolution of the United States healthcare reform. After this, I will explain the views of the opposing side, which will dive into both the financial and implementation concerns of affordable healthcare

Precision Agriculture Technologies: Analysing the Use of Advanced Technologies, Such as Drones, Sensors, and GPS, In Precision Agriculture for Optimizing Resource Management, Crop Monitoring, and Yield Prediction

Precision agriculture, or precision farming, is a type of farming method that uses technology to improve the efficiency and yield of crops. It has become increasingly popular in recent years as a way for farmers to get the most out of their land and resources. By utilizing data-driven decision-making, precision agriculture can help farmers maximize crop yields while minimizing costs by reducing water usage, fertilizer application, chemical treatments, and labor needs. In this article, we will explore precision agriculture, why it’s important, the different ways it is performed, and some key principles of this agricultural practice. Precision agriculture is a farming practice that uses advanced technology and data-driven decision-making to optimize crop yields while minimizing cost. This includes the use of sensors, aerial imagery, drones, global positioning systems (GPS), remote sensing technologies, geographic information systems (GIS), robotics, and even artificial intelligence (AI) to collect and analyze data. This data can be used to develop specific plans and strategies tailored to individual fields, farms, or even small areas within a farm. By accurately monitoring and analyzing data such as soil content, temperature, humidity, water levels, and more, farmers can better understand their land’s needs and apply resources accordingly. Precision agriculture falls under the category of smart farming, where technologies are used to produce higher yields while reducing inputs, labor, and environmental impact. By utilizing technology, precision agriculture helps farmers make better decisions and ultimately increase crop production while reducing costs at the same time

    Separation Anxiety

I wrote this poem about a month and a half after we were sent home from SHU. A couple of my friends were talking to me one day, telling me how much they missed their boyfriends/girlfriends, everything they love about them, and their longing to see them, knowing they wouldn\u27t be able to. I took inspiration from this, as well as the feeling of being suddenly separated from the people you love, and wrote it into a poem I titled Separation Anxiety. I wanted to artistically express the feeling a person gets when they realize how much they have taken the people they love for granted, and their reflection on what they love about them that makes them such important individuals in their life. COVID-19 took so much away from so many of us, and I wanted to write a poem in the perspective of a person that misses someone they love that many people could relate to during these times. We as humans tend to take several people and things in our lives for granted and don\u27t realize it until it\u27s suddenly ripped from us. We should all make an effort to tell the people we love how much we love them rather than keeping it to ourselves our entire lives

Objective: Salbutamol sulphate (SBS) and doxophylline (DOX) was used for the treatment of asthma and bronchitis. In the present study, two simple, accurate, precise, reproducible and economical UV-spectroscopic methods (A and B) for simultaneous estimation of SBS and DOX in tablet dosage form have been developed. Methods: In the present study the simultaneous estimation of SBS and DOX was carried out by two methods. Method A employs solving of simultaneous equations based on the measurement of absorbance at two wavelengths, 272 nm and 276 nm which are the ðœ†max values of SBS and DOX respectively in phosphate buffer (pH 7.4). Method B is based on the principle of Q-Analysis where in, absorbance was measured at 225 nm (iso-absorptive point, ðœ†1) and 276 nm (ðœ†max of DOX, ðœ†2) in phosphate buffer (pH 7.4).Results: Both SBS and DOX shows linearity at all the selected wavelengths and obeys beer's law in the concentration range of between 0.2-1.6ðœ‡g/ml and 0.1-3.5μg/ml at 276 nm; 0.2-1.6 µg/ml and 0.1-4.5 µg/ml at 272 nm and 0.2-2.0µg/ml and 0.2-3.5μg/ml at iso-absorptive point 225 nm. Recovery studies for SBS and DOX were performed and the percentage recovery for both the drugs was obtained in the range of 97.45-98.63% (Method A) and 97.49–98.87 % (Method B) confirming the accuracy of the proposed method. Conclusion: Both the methods showed good reproducibility and recovery with % RSD less than 2. Statistical validation of the data shows that the proposed methods can be successfully applied for the routine analysis of drugs in commercial tablets. Hence, it could be used in the analysis of laboratory samples and marketed formulations containing these two drugs in combined dosage form without the interference of common excipients

Meditation Program for First Year Medical Undergraduate Students: A Feasibility Study

Introduction: Prevalence of stress among Indian medical undergraduate students is currently higher than the global stress level. Notably, although India is considered home to yogic practices, attempts at incorporating them in the daily routines of medical students have been lacking. In Raj Yoga Meditation (RYM), the steps for meditation are clear and explicit, so it is easy to practice. The study aimed to assess the feasibility of daily practice of RYM by medical undergraduates and find out if there is an improvement in the mental health and stress levels of the participants. Methods: We chose 80 students randomly from two first-year MBBS batches. All students completed the General Health Questionnaire-12 (GHQ-12) and the Medical Students Stressor Questionnaire (MSSQ) before and after one month of meditation practice. The participants then gave written feedback for program evaluation. Results: Statistical analysis of the mean GHQ, MSSQ I, and MSSQ IV scores showed a highly significant decline after the intervention compared to preintervention levels. There was also a statistically significant decrease in the number of students with a GHQ score \u3e=3.Qualitative analysis showed that with daily practice of RYM, students developed the ability to handle stress and liked the technique of RYM. Conclusion: It is feasible to conduct a supervised meditation program for a month for undergraduate students
