E1−E2E1-E2 interference in the Coulomb dissociation of 8^8B

We investigate the effects arising out of the $E1 - E2$ interference in the Coulomb dissociation of $^8$B at beam energies below and around 50 MeV/nucleon. The theory has been formulated within a first order semiclassical scheme of Coulomb excitation, in which both the ground state and the continuum state wave functions of $^8$B enter as inputs. We find that the magnitude of the interference could be large in some cases. However, there are some specific observables which are free from the effects of the $E1 - E2$ interference, which is independent of the models used to describe the structure of $^8$B. This will be useful for the analysis of the breakup data in relation to the extraction of the astrophysical factor $S_{17}(0)$.Comment: Revised version to appear in Physical Review

Candida balanoposthitis is a known feature of diabetes mellitus especially in Indian males who are predominantly uncircumcised. In this country, diabetes is often diagnosed for the first time by dermatologists. Diabetes is much more frequently the cause of candida balanoposthitis than sexual intercourse in India. Fissuring along with balanoposthitis was found to be more common in sexually active males. The biomechanical basis of fissuring and the effect of diabetes in this phenomenon are explained. India has vast natural resources suitable for the development of aquaculture in the marine, brackishwater and freshwater environments. A long coast line 8118 km along with 3.5 million ha of estuaries and 3.9 million ha of backwaters, our potential for the development is immense. It is estimated that an area of 1.2 million ha are suitable for the development of brackishwater aquaculture. A major share of this potential area lies in the states of West Bengal (34 per cent) and Gujarat (32 per cent) where they greatly remain under utilized. Nihilism in Mulk Raj Anand’s Untouchable and U. R. Ananthamurthy’s Samskara: A Rite for a Dead Man

Untouchable (1935) depicts the pain of its protagonist, Bakha in a single day incident. Bakha is born to an untouchable, who are known for their manual scavenging work. Set in Aristotelian model if ideal drama, the plot follows unities. Bakha is son Lakha who is happy to be called as jemadar or manual scavenger (Anand 4). Most of the story revolves around the problems Bakha faces. Bakha is not the product of old generation but is rather rational and does not accept his present situation. The story unfolds and we see numerous incidents in which Bakha is maltreated. Many a times despair and depression grips his mind, but his resilient spirit results in the change of attitude and eventually he tries to explore the new arena, ironically again to get disheartened. The depiction of Bakha, elaborates the exploitative practices that caste Hindu poses, in which the untouchable acquire lowest position in the society. Bakha tries to find solution of his problems in religion but all in vain. The only reason he works for “to him work was a sort of intoxication which gave him a glowing health and plenty of easy sleep” (10)
