Microtube's Tapers Affect its Subwavelength Focusing Effect
AbstractA tapered microtube fabricated from a glass capillary tube can achieve subwavelength focusing at optical frequencies. This focusing effect is influenced by many factures. The role of taper ratios is invested in this paper with theoretical analysis and numerical simulation. It revealed that when the taper ratio is larger, the focusing spot has higher intensity and smaller FWHM
STAGE: Span Tagging and Greedy Inference Scheme for Aspect Sentiment Triplet Extraction
Aspect Sentiment Triplet Extraction (ASTE) has become an emerging task in
sentiment analysis research, aiming to extract triplets of the aspect term, its
corresponding opinion term, and its associated sentiment polarity from a given
sentence. Recently, many neural networks based models with different tagging
schemes have been proposed, but almost all of them have their limitations:
heavily relying on 1) prior assumption that each word is only associated with a
single role (e.g., aspect term, or opinion term, etc. ) and 2) word-level
interactions and treating each opinion/aspect as a set of independent words.
Hence, they perform poorly on the complex ASTE task, such as a word associated
with multiple roles or an aspect/opinion term with multiple words. Hence, we
propose a novel approach, Span TAgging and Greedy infErence (STAGE), to extract
sentiment triplets in span-level, where each span may consist of multiple words
and play different roles simultaneously. To this end, this paper formulates the
ASTE task as a multi-class span classification problem. Specifically, STAGE
generates more accurate aspect sentiment triplet extractions via exploring
span-level information and constraints, which consists of two components,
namely, span tagging scheme and greedy inference strategy. The former tag all
possible candidate spans based on a newly-defined tagging set. The latter
retrieves the aspect/opinion term with the maximum length from the candidate
sentiment snippet to output sentiment triplets. Furthermore, we propose a
simple but effective model based on the STAGE, which outperforms the
state-of-the-arts by a large margin on four widely-used datasets. Moreover, our
STAGE can be easily generalized to other pair/triplet extraction tasks, which

Costunolide causes mitotic arrest and enhances radiosensitivity in human hepatocellular carcinoma cells
<p>Abstract</p> <p>Purpose</p> <p>This work aimed to investigate the effect of costunolide, a sesquiterpene lactone isolated from <it>Michelia compressa</it>, on cell cycle distribution and radiosensitivity of human hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>The assessment used in this study included: cell viability assay, cell cycle analysis by DNA histogram, expression of phosphorylated histone H3 (Ser 10) by flow cytometer, mitotic index by Liu's stain and morphological observation, mitotic spindle alignment by immunofluorescence of alpha-tubulin, expression of cell cycle-related proteins by Western blotting, and radiation survival by clonogenic assay.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>Our results show that costunolide reduced the viability of HA22T/VGH cells. It caused a rapid G2/M arrest at 4 hours shown by DNA histogram. The increase in phosphorylated histone H3 (Ser 10)-positive cells and mitotic index indicates costunolide-treated cells are arrested at mitosis, not G2, phase. Immunofluorescence of alpha-tubulin for spindle formation further demonstrated these cells are halted at metaphase. Costunolide up-regulated the expression of phosphorylated Chk2 (Thr 68), phosphorylated Cdc25c (Ser 216), phosphorylated Cdk1 (Tyr 15) and cyclin B1 in HA22T/VGH cells. At optimal condition causing mitotic arrest, costunolide sensitized HA22T/VGH HCC cells to ionizing radiation with sensitizer enhancement ratio up to 1.9.</p> <p>Conclusions</p> <p>Costunolide could reduce the viability and arrest cell cycling at mitosis in hepatoma cells. Logical exploration of this mitosis-arresting activity for cancer therapeutics shows costunolide enhanced the killing effect of radiotherapy against human HCC cells.</p
Experimental quantum secure network with digital signatures and encryption
Cryptography promises four information security objectives, namely,
confidentiality, integrity, authenticity, and non-repudiation, to support
trillions of transactions annually in the digital economy. Efficient digital
signatures, ensuring the integrity, authenticity, and non-repudiation of data
with information-theoretical security are highly urgent and intractable open
problems in cryptography. Here, we propose a protocol of high-efficiency
quantum digital signatures using secret sharing, one-time universal
hashing, and the one-time pad. We just need to use a 384-bit key to sign
documents of up to lengths with a security bound of . If
one-megabit document is signed, the signature efficiency is improved by more
than times compared with previous quantum digital signature protocols.
Furthermore, we build the first all-in-one quantum secure network integrating
information-theoretically secure communication, digital signatures, secret
sharing, and conference key agreement and experimentally demonstrate this
signature efficiency advantage. Our work completes the cryptography toolbox of

Nurse Anesthetists’ Perceptions and Experiences of Managing Emergence Delirium: A Qualitative Study
BACKGROUND: This study employs a descriptive phenomenological approach to investigate the challenges anesthesia nurses face in managing emergence delirium (ED), a common and complex postoperative complication in the post-anesthesia care unit. The role of nurses in managing ED is critical, yet research on their understanding and management strategies for ED is lacking.
AIM: To investigate anesthetic nurses\u27 cognition and management experiences of ED in hopes of developing a standardized management protocol.
METHODS: This study employed a descriptive phenomenological approach from qualitative research methodologies. Purposeful sampling was utilized to select 12 anesthetic nurses from a tertiary hospital in Shanghai as research subjects. Semi-structured interviews were conducted, and the data were organized and analyzed using Colaizzi\u27s seven-step analysis method, from which the final themes were extracted.
RESULTS: After analyzing the interview content, four main themes and eight subthemes were distilled: Inefficient cognition hinders the identification of ED (conceptual ambiguity, empirical identification), managing diversity and challenges (patient-centered safe care, low level of medical-nursing collaboration), work responsibilities and pressure coexist (heavy work responsibilities, occupational risks and stress), demand for high-quality management (expecting the construction of predictive assessment tools and prevention strategies, and pursuing standardized management processes to enhance management effectiveness).
CONCLUSION: Nursing managers should prioritize the needs and suggestions of nurses in order to enhance their nursing capabilities and provide guidance for standardized management processes
