    PMP-Swin: Multi-Scale Patch Message Passing Swin Transformer for Retinal Disease Classification

    Retinal disease is one of the primary causes of visual impairment, and early diagnosis is essential for preventing further deterioration. Nowadays, many works have explored Transformers for diagnosing diseases due to their strong visual representation capabilities. However, retinal diseases exhibit milder forms and often present with overlapping signs, which pose great difficulties for accurate multi-class classification. Therefore, we propose a new framework named Multi-Scale Patch Message Passing Swin Transformer for multi-class retinal disease classification. Specifically, we design a Patch Message Passing (PMP) module based on the Message Passing mechanism to establish global interaction for pathological semantic features and to exploit the subtle differences further between different diseases. Moreover, considering the various scale of pathological features we integrate multiple PMP modules for different patch sizes. For evaluation, we have constructed a new dataset, named OPTOS dataset, consisting of 1,033 high-resolution fundus images photographed by Optos camera and conducted comprehensive experiments to validate the efficacy of our proposed method. And the results on both the public dataset and our dataset demonstrate that our method achieves remarkable performance compared to state-of-the-art methods.Comment: 9 pages, 7 figure

    Expression of PRB, FKBP52 and HB-EGF Relating with Ultrasonic Evaluation of Endometrial Receptivity

    Background: To explore the molecular basis of the different ultrasonic patterns of the human endometrium, and the molecular marker basis of local injury. Methodology/Principal Findings: The mRNA and protein expression of FKBP52, progesterone receptor A (PRA), progesterone receptor B (PRB), and HB-EGF were detected in different patterns of the endometrium by real-time RTPCR and immunohistochemistry. There were differences in the mRNA and protein expression of FKBP52, PRB, and HB-EGF in the triple line (Pattern A) and homogeneous (Pattern C) endometrium in the window of implantation. No difference was detected in PRA expression. After local injury, the mRNA expression of HB-EGF significantly increased. In contrast, there was no difference in the mRNA expression of FKBP52, PRB, or PRA. The protein expression of FKBP52, PRB, and HB-EGF increased after local injury. There was no difference in the PRA expression after local injury. Conclusions: PRB, FKBP52, and HB-EGF may be the molecular basis for the classification of the ultrasonic patterns. HB-EGF may be the molecular basis of local injury. Ultrasonic evaluation on the day of ovulation can be effective in predicting the outcome of implantation

    Fungal diversity notes 1512-1610: taxonomic and phylogenetic contributions on genera and species of fungal taxa

    This article is the 14th in the Fungal Diversity Notes series, wherein we report 98 taxa distributed in two phyla, seven classes, 26 orders and 50 families which are described and illustrated. Taxa in this study were collected from Australia, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Chile, China, Cyprus, Egypt, France, French Guiana, India, Indonesia, Italy, Laos, Mexico, Russia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam. There are 59 new taxa, 39 new hosts and new geographical distributions with one new combination. An updated, accurate and timely report of fungus-host and fungus-geography is important. We also provide an updated list of fungal taxa published in the previous fungal diversity notes. In this list, erroneous taxa and synonyms are marked and corrected accordingly

    Numerical Simulation of a Typical Convective Precipitation and Its Cloud Microphysical Process in the Yushu Area, Based on the WRF Model

    Cloud microphysical processes significantly impact the time variation and intensity of precipitation. However, due to the high altitude of the Tibetan Plateau (TP) and the lack of observational data, the understanding of cloud microphysical processes on the TP is relatively insufficient, affecting the accuracy of precipitation simulations around the TP. To further reveal the characteristics of convective precipitation and cloud microphysical structure over the TP, the mesoscale numerical model, WRF, and various observational data were used to simulate and evaluate typical convective precipitation in the Yushu area, which was recorded from 11 to 12 August 2020. The results showed that the combination of the Lin scheme in the WRF model could effectively reproduce this case’s characteristics and evolution process. In the simulation process, the particles of each phase were distributed at different altitudes, and their mass and density over time reflected the characteristics of surface precipitation changes. Among the particles mentioned above, rainwater contributed the most to the initiation and growth of graupel particles. Further research established that the initiation of graupel was mainly affected by the freezing effect of rainwater and cloud ice, while the growth of graupel was influenced primarily by the collision of graupel particles and rainwater. On the whole, from the evolution characteristics of microphysical processes over time, it was found that the ice phase process plays an essential role in this typical convective precipitation
