The synthetic, spectroscopic, and biological studies of sixteen ring-substituted 4-phenylthiosemicarbazones and 4-nitrophenyl-thiosemicarbazones of anisaldehyde, 4-chlorobenzaldehyde, 4-fluorobenzaldehyde, and vanillin with ruthenium(III) and rhodium(III) chlorides are reported here. Their structures were determined on the basis of the elemental analyses, spectroscopic data (IR, electronic, (1)H and (13)C NMR) along with magnetic susceptibility measurements, molar conductivity and thermogravimetric analyses. Electrical conductance measurement revealed a 1 : 3 electrolytic nature of the complexes. The resulting colored products are monomeric in nature. On the basis of the above studies, three ligands were suggested to be coordinated to each metal atom by thione sulphur and azomethine nitrogen to form low-spin octahedral complexes with ruthenium(III) while forming diamagnetic complexes with rhodium(III). Both ligands and their complexes have been screened for their bactericidal activities and the results indicate that they exhibit a significant activity

Objective: The aim of the present study is to evaluate the efficacy of Vamana karma in the management of dyslipidemia. Methods: Patients were selected from the OPD and IPD at the Department of Panchakarma, Hospital of Rishikul Campus, Uttarakhand Ayurved University, Haridwar. Patients in Group A will be administered with two sittings of Vamana procedure. In Group B, 20 patients will be treated with atorvastatin for 60 days in dose of 10 mg once daily after meals with water. Results: The overall assessment of the therapy was decided on the basis of improvement in biochemical parameter (serum lipid profile) by applying statistics. Vamana karma had statistically highly significant result in all the objective parameters except high-density lipoprotein [HDL].Conclusion: Thus, it can be concluded that dyslipidemia is a form of Kaphavikara specifically may be Medodushti in the form of Abaddha meda. Vamana karma is highly effective in correcting serum lipid profile except HDL and very low-density lipoprotein but have better effect than the standard drug in both of them. Vamana karma can be used for the effective and safe management of dyslipidemia

A rare case of rectovaginal fistula caused by coital injury in a patient of MRKH

Rectovaginal fistula is defined as an epithelized communication between the rectum and vagina with involuntary escape of flatus and/or faeces into the vagina. Rectovaginal fistula is a very distressing problem for women. The successful management of this problem depends on the etiology, size and location of both fistula, as well as assessing the competence of the continence mechanism. It may be acquired and congenital, the most common causes are obstetrical injury. Coital injury is very rare cause of recto vaginal fistula. Here we are reporting a rare case of MRKH along with recto vaginal fistula resulting from coital trauma

MANAGEMENT OF PSORIASIS THROUGH AYURVEDA- A CASE STUDY

Psoriasis is one of the most common dermatologic diseases, affecting up to 1% of the world's population. It is a chronic inflammatory skin disorder clinically characterized by erythematous, sharply demarcated papules and rounded plaques, covered by silvery micaceous scale. It has poorly understood etiology and presence of 50% positive family history. Drugs used now a day are basically immunosuppressive which have severe side effects along with remission of disease as well therefore holistic approach of Ayurveda can be a better approach to such disease. Psoriasis due to its different manifestation in different types can be correlated to different types of Kustha mentioned in Ayurveda. So the case being presented here is a male patient with red demarcated patches with severe itching in armpits, groin and nipple.Material and method: The patient was administered with Virechana with Trivritaavaleha followed by Shamana drugs. Results: After Virechana there was the complete improvement in itching and redness of patches was reduced to some extent but after using Shamana drugs there was moderate reduction in all the symptoms along with mild remission. Conclusion: There is need to develop a management for psoriasis which can give benefit on a long run without any adverse effects so, Ayurvedic system of medicine could be answer to this question

Identification of Comamonas species using 16S rRNA gene sequence

A bacterial strain Bz02 was isolated from a water sample collected from river Gomti at the Indian city of Lucknow. We characterized the strain using 16S rRNA sequence. Phylogenetic analysis showed that the strain formed a monophyletic clade with members of the genus Comamonas. The closest phylogenetic relative was Comamonas testosteroni with 95% 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity. It is proposed that the identified strain Bz02 be assigned as the type strain of a species of the genus Comamonas (Comamonas sp Bz02) based on 16S rRNA gene sequence search in Ribosomal Database Project, small subunit rRNA and large subunit rRNA databases together with the phylogenetic tree analysis. The sequence is deposted in GenBank with the accession number FJ211417
