Glaucomatous vertical vessel density asymmetry of the temporal raphe detected with optical coherence tomography angiography.
Changes in retinal vasculature and ocular circulation may play an important role in the glaucoma development and progression. We evaluated the vertical asymmetry across the temporal raphe of the deep retinal layer vessel density, using swept-source optical coherence tomography angiography (SS-OCTA), and its relationship with the central visual field (VF) loss. Thirty-four eyes of 27 patients with open-angle glaucoma were included. SS-OCTA macular scanning was performed within a 3 × 3 mm (300 × 300 pixels) volume, centred on the fovea. The relationships between the vertical asymmetrical deep retinal vessel density reduction (ADRVD) across the temporal raphe and various ocular parameters were analysed. Twenty-two glaucomatous eyes with ADRVDs had central VF loss. Contrarily, ADRVDs were not found in any of the 12 eyes without central VF loss. Thirteen eyes (59.1%) with central VF loss had ADRVDs topographically corresponding to the central VF loss and macular ganglion cell complex thinning. The glaucomatous eyes with ADRVDs exhibited inferior rather than superior central VF loss (P = 0.032). Thus, ADRVD specifically indicates the glaucomatous central visual loss. Further analysis of ADRVD may improve our understanding on glaucoma pathogenesis, offering new treatment insights
Classical and Quantum Cosmology of Multigravity
Recently, a multigraviton theory on a simple closed circuit graph
corresponding to the discretization of compactification of the
Kaluza-Klein (KK) theory has been considered. In the present paper, we extend
this theory to that on a general graph and study what modes of particles are
included. Furthermore, we generalize it in a possible nonlinear theory based on
the vierbein formalism and study classical and quantum cosmological solutions
in the theory. We found that scale factors in a solution for this theory repeat
acceleration and deceleration.Comment: 17 pages, 15 figures, RevTeX4.1, revised versio
Surface MIMO: Using Conductive Surfaces For MIMO Between Small Devices
As connected devices continue to decrease in size, we explore the idea of
leveraging everyday surfaces such as tabletops and walls to augment the
wireless capabilities of devices. Specifically, we introduce Surface MIMO, a
technique that enables MIMO communication between small devices via surfaces
coated with conductive paint or covered with conductive cloth. These surfaces
act as an additional spatial path that enables MIMO capabilities without
increasing the physical size of the devices themselves. We provide an extensive
characterization of these surfaces that reveal their effect on the propagation
of EM waves. Our evaluation shows that we can enable additional spatial streams
using the conductive surface and achieve average throughput gains of 2.6-3x for
small devices. Finally, we also leverage the wideband characteristics of these
conductive surfaces to demonstrate the first Gbps surface communication system
that can directly transfer bits through the surface at up to 1.3 Gbps.Comment: MobiCom '1
Similarity In Phase Diagrams Between Ionic And Nonionic Surfactant Solutions At Constant Temperature
The frequency in Japanese of genetic variants of 22 proteins III. Phosphoglucomutase-1, phosphoglucomutase-2, 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase, adenylate kinase, and adenosine deaminase
Five enzyme systems, PGM 1 , PGM 2 , ADA, 6-PGD and AK, were examined by electrophoresis in over 4000 samples from Hiroshima and Nagasaki for the frequencies of common and rare variants. In the PGM 1 , system, the PGM 2 1 allele and PGM 7 1 ; allele were found in polymorphic proportions. I n addition, five kinds of slow variants and three types of fast variants of PGM 1 were detected. The PGM 3 NGS 1 1 allele was found in five individuals from Nagasaki, but was not observed in samples from Hiroshima. There were no variants of PGM 2 . Three kinds of fast variants of 6-PGD were detected. NO variation in AK was observed. There were no rare variants of ADA. The 6-PGD c allele had a frequency of 0.084 in Hiroshima, and 0.093 in Nagasaki, and the ADA 2 allele frequencies of 0.025 in Hiroshima and 0.032 in Nagasaki.Peer Reviewedhttp://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/65524/1/j.1469-1809.1977.tb01912.x.pd
Measurement of forward photon production cross-section in proton-proton collisions at = 13 TeV with the LHCf detector
In this paper, we report the production cross-section of forward photons in
the pseudorapidity regions of and ,
measured by the LHCf experiment with proton--proton collisions at =
13 TeV. The results from the analysis of 0.191 of data
obtained in June 2015 are compared to the predictions of several hadronic
interaction models that are used in air-shower simulations for
ultra-high-energy cosmic rays. Although none of the models agree perfectly with
the data, EPOS-LHC shows the best agreement with the experimental data among
the models.Comment: 21 pages, 4 figure
The Optimal Exponent Base for emPAI Is 6.5
Exponentially Modified Protein Abundance Index (emPAI) is an established method of estimating protein abundances from peptide counts in a single LC-MS/MS experiment. EmPAI is defined as 10PAI minus one, where PAI (Protein Abundance Index) denotes the ratio of observed to observable peptides. EmPAI was first proposed by Ishihama et al [1] who found that PAI is approximately proportional to the logarithm of absolute protein concentration. I define emPAI65 = 6.5PAI-1 and show that it performs significantly better than emPAI, while it is equally easy to compute. The higher accuracy of emPAI65 is demonstrated by analyzing three data sets, including the one used in the original study [1]. I conclude that emPAI65 ought to be used instead of the original emPAI for protein quantitation
Measurement of the cosmic-ray antiproton spectrum at solar minimum with a long-duration balloon flight over Antarctica
The energy spectrum of cosmic-ray antiprotons from 0.17 to 3.5 GeV has been
measured using 7886 antiprotons detected by BESS-Polar II during a
long-duration flight over Antarctica near solar minimum in December 2007 and
January 2008. This shows good consistency with secondary antiproton
calculations. Cosmologically primary antiprotons have been investigated by
comparing measured and calculated antiproton spectra. BESS-Polar II data show
no evidence of primary antiprotons from evaporation of primordial black holes.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figures, submitted to Physical Review Letter
