This study aimed to clarify mothers\u27 perceptions about psychosocial issues and solutions in preschool-age foodallergic children (FA children) who need to carry adrenaline auto-injector (Epipen®). Semi-structured interviews were conducted with eight mothers of FA children, which were analyzed qualitatively and descriptively. The problems perceived by mothers were: situations that only FA children have to deal with; lack of experience with food; negative feelings about the allergy-inducing food; immaturity of judgment about allergies; and difficulty in transitioning to the stage of separation from parents. The mothers\u27 proposed solutions were: setting scenes to foster food experiences that are led by the FA child; adjusting the environment for shared experiences with other children; empathy for the feelings of FA children; preparing allergen-free elimination diet menus when going out; responding to a dietary therapy that considers the feelings of FA children; education to improve FA childrenâs self-care ability for allergies; and working to be understood by adults involved with FA children outside the home regarding food allergies.ãæ¯èŠªãèªèããæºåž¯çšã¢ãã¬ããªã³èªå·±æ³šå°è¬ãææããéçé£ç©ã¢ã¬ã«ã®ãŒå

This study aimed to clarify what incidents of falling pediatric nurses deem fit to file incident reports for. Participants were 145 nurses in 11 general hospitals with pediatric wards. Most of the nurses reported a need to file incident reports when the children are treated or examined for a fall injury. Respondents stated that there is a greater need to file reports for âfalls from cribsâ rather than âfalls while walking.â The average rate of incident reports filed significantly differed between âfalls while walkingâ (60.4%) and âfalls from cribsâ (82.7%). Respondents noted a greater need to file reports when children fell while they were with nurses rather than their parents. Nurses did not think that all falls should be reported. They judged the need to file incident reports by the degree of injury, situation of fall, or cause of fall

The purpose of this study is to ascertain nursing practices that can be responsible for reassuring parents of children with severe motor and intellectual disabilities (SMID) during short-term hospitalization. Semi- structured interviews with 12 parents were conducted. The results determined the following vehicles for reassurance in nursing practices:â compassionate care,ââ care that meets parentsâ expectations,ââ consideration toward parents,â andâ management of information and goods.â The reassurance in short-term hospitalization to parents of children with SMID who are highly dependent on home medical care was connected to âcare that meets parents\u27 expectations,â and polite âcompassionate careâ nursing practices, which protect the lives of such children. In addition, this study discerned that there is often little time to provideâ consideration to parentsâ; therefore, it was determined that nursing practices and theâ management of information and goodsâ could provide reassurance leading to smooth check-ins and check-outs during hospitalizations. Based on the nursing practices clarified in this study, it is necessary to support short-term hospitalizations as opportunities in which parents are not only providing their own care for children with SMID but also accepting care from experienced nurses. Through the interactions with nurses, it is vital to facilitate growing social in the relationships between children and their hardworking parents.ãéå»ã«éçå¿èº«éããå
