The Relationship Between Cognitive Dysfunction and Symptom Dimensions Across Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, and Major Depressive Disorder
Background: Cognitive dysfunction is considered a core feature among schizophrenia (SZ), bipolar disorder (BD), and major depressive disorder (MDD). Despite abundant literature comparing cognitive dysfunction among these disorders, the relationship between cognitive dysfunction and symptom dimensions remains unclear. The study aims are a) to identify the factor structure of the BPRS-18 and b) to examine the relationship between symptom domains and cognitive function across SZ, BD, and MDD.Methods: A total of 716 participants [262 with SZ, 104 with BD, 101 with MDD, and 249 healthy controls (HC)] were included in the study. One hundred eighty participants (59 with SZ, 23 with BD, 24 with MDD, and 74 HC) completed the MATRICS Consensus Cognitive Battery (MCCB), and 507 participants (85 with SZ, 89 with BD, 90 with MDD, and 243 HC) completed the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test (WCST). All patients completed the Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale (BPRS).Results: We identified five BPRS exploratory factor analysis (EFA) factors (“affective symptoms,” “psychosis,” “negative/disorganized symptoms,” “activation,” and “noncooperation”) and found cognitive dysfunction in all of the participant groups with psychiatric disorders. Negative/disorganized symptoms were the most strongly associated with cognitive dysfunctions across SZ, BD, and MDD.Conclusions: Our findings suggest that cognitive dysfunction severity relates to the negative/disorganized symptom domain across SZ, BD, and MDD, and negative/disorganized symptoms may be an important target for effective cognitive remediation in SZ, BD, and MDD
Data Quality-Aware Client Selection in Heterogeneous Federated Learning
Federated Learning (FL) enables decentralized data utilization while maintaining edge user privacy, but it faces challenges due to statistical heterogeneity. Existing approaches address client drift and data heterogeneity issues. However, real-world settings often involve low-quality data with noisy features, such as covariate drift or adversarial samples, which are usually ignored. Noisy samples significantly impact the global model’s accuracy and convergence rate. Assessing data quality and selectively aggregating updates from high-quality clients is crucial, but dynamically perceiving data quality without additional computations or data exchanges is challenging. In this paper, we introduce the FedDQA (Federated learning via Data Quality-Aware) (FedDQA) framework. We discover increased data noise leads to slower loss reduction during local model training. We propose a loss sharpness-based Data-Quality-Awareness (DQA) metric to differentiate between high-quality and low-quality data. Based on the DQA, we design a client selection algorithm that strategically selects participant clients to reduce the negative impact of noisy clients. Experiment results indicate that FedDQA significantly outperforms the baselines. Notably, it achieves up to a 4% increase in global model accuracy and demonstrates faster convergence rates

The Effects of Fishmeal Replacement with Degossypolled Cottonseed Protein on Growth, Serum Biochemistry, Endocrine Responses, Lipid Metabolism, and Antioxidant and Immune Responses in Black Carp (Mylopharyngodon piceus)
This research investigated the growth, serum biochemistry, antioxidant capability, and immunity impact of black carp fed degossypolled cottonseed protein replacing fishmeal at the levels of 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50% (DCP0, DCP10, DCP20, DCP30, DCP40, and DCP50), respectively. The results showed there were no significant changes in growth among these test groups. The activities and mRNA expression levels of amylase and trypsin were heightened in conjunction with 30–40% DCP. Although the insulin contents were reduced with a rise in DCP content, 5-hydroxytryptamino was increased in the DCP40 and DCP50 groups. DCP40 could heighten the levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, triglycerides, total cholesterol, and urea nitrogen. Although lower levels of DCP (≤20%) could increase the total antioxidant capacity compared with the DCP50 group, DCP50 could markedly heighten levels of catalase, glutathione S-transferase, H2O2, and malondialdehyde. Meanwhile, the mRNA levels of Mn-superoxide dismutase, glutathione reductase, glutathione peroxidase, glutamate–cysteine ligase regulatory subunit, and nuclear factor E2-related factor 2 were heightened in the DCP30 group compared with the DCP50 group. The levels of alkaline phosphatase, immunoglobulin M, and liver-expressed antimicrobial peptide 2 were markedly heightened in the liver of the DCP20 group compared with the DCP50 group. The main outcome was overall survival (OS).Results: This meta-analysis comprised 16 studies involving 9,304 participants. The results indicated that compared with chemotherapy, patients treated with PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors had significantly improved OS (HR = 0.80; p Conclusion: The results indicated that PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors could prolong the OS of advanced gastroesophageal cancer patients. Clinicopathological features such as therapeutic schedules, tumor types, histological type, gender, geographical region and PD-L1 expression status (CPS) seemed to be associated with survival outcomes.</p
