Care coordination in bone health screening between individual behaviors and health care services among Korean-American women across three age groups
Integrated continuous care is important to prevent and treat brittle bone status in the aging process; however, minority groups often have limited access to health services. The purpose of this study was to identify the care coordination among women’s perceptions about their bone health, information from health care providers, and the results of Bone Mineral Density (BMD) tests across three age groups. The study was a cross-sectional comparative design. A total of 63 Korean American women completed both the assessment of BMD of the femoral neck and an interview survey. One’s own risks of osteoporosis, screening behaviors, and health care providers’ advice were analyzed according to three age (pre-, peri-, and post-menopausal) groups, BMD levels, and health insurance coverage. Overall, health insurance coverage and having a primary health care provider of Korean American women were 59.0% and 32.0%, respectively; 61.9% had lower than normal BMD levels, which were significantly increased by advanced age. Individual awareness of risks of osteoporosis and screening behaviors were significantly higher in peri-menopausal than in pre- and post-menopausal groups, but no differences were found in health care providers’ information. The awareness and care providers’ information by BMD level or health insurance did not differ. The findings show a discrepancy between individual perceptions and behaviors and health care providers’ recommendations regard to bone health. Health behaviors should be guided by professional health care providers. The women in the post-menopausal stage need to be educated about the high risk of osteoporosis and its management
Plasmon-Driven Acceleration in a Photo-Excited Nanotube
A plasmon-assisted channeling acceleration can be realized with a large
channel, possibly at the nanometer scale. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are the most
typical example of nano-channels that can confine a large number of channeled
particles in a photon-plasmon coupling condition. This paper presents a
theoretical and numerical study on the concept of high-field charge
acceleration driven by photo-excited Luttinger-liquid plasmons (LLP) in a
nanotube. An analytic description of the plasmon-assisted laser acceleration is
detailed with practical acceleration parameters, in particular with
specifications of a typical tabletop femtosecond laser system. The maximally
achievable acceleration gradients and energy gains within dephasing lengths and
CNT lengths are discussed with respect to laser-incident angles and CNT-filling
ratios.Comment: 19 p
A conceptual model of foreign investment : a forestry internationalization case between New Zealand and Korea : a thesis presented in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Agricultural Economics at Massey University
The purpose of this thesis is to explore comprehensive, strategic investment structure by examining the factor interactions revolving around the current issues which confront New Zealand forestry internationalisation in the global economic perspectives. This thesis presents the prototype of a conceptual model of international forestry as a modified joint venture\ trust system by examining the existing institutional and legal structure. Considering the global, conceptual nature of this thesis, macro-theoretical and institutional approach were adopted instead of statistical, micro analysis. In order to derive a micro, realistic solution from the macro, global issues, the flow of basic logic and scope of this research has been advanced progressively such as Worldwide (global) --- Asia Pacific Rim (multilateral) Bilateral (eg., New Zealand versus Korea) --- Bilateral arrangement (eg., modified joint venture \ Trust system). Also, basic components and scenarios which are useful to seek out alternatives were proposed to solve the current problems which face New Zealand forestry. The conceptual model which is proposed in this thesis could be tested and applied not only in bilateral but also in multilateral trade and investment relationships by modifying it to adjust to specific circumstances. In this way, the credibility gap between the conceptual model and real world is greatly diminished. Ultimately, the conceptual model could contribute as a useful mechanism to analyse international factor mobility between resource-demanding and supplying countries
How Can We Introduce the Most Effective Incentive Plan for Non-Exempt Employees?
Question: How can we introduce the most effective and efficient incentive plan to motivate non-exempt employees and to drive improvement of the organization’s overall performance
Artinian level algebras of codimension 3
In this paper, we continue the study of which -vectors can be the Hilbert function of a level algebra by
investigating Artinian level algebras of codimension 3 with the condition
, where is
the lex-segment ideal associated with an ideal . Our approach is to adopt an
homological method called {\it Cancellation Principle}: the minimal free
resolution of is obtained from that of by canceling some
adjacent terms of the same shift.
We prove that when ,
can be an Artinian level -algebra only if either
or holds. We also apply our results to show that for
, the Hilbert function of an Artinian
algebra of codimension 3 with the condition ,
(a) if , then -vector \H cannot be level, and
(b) if , then there is a level algebra with Hilbert function
\H for some value of .Comment: 15 page
Standard Embeddings of Smooth Schubert Varieties in Rational Homogeneous Manifolds of Picard Number 1
Smooth Schubert varieties in rational homogeneous manifolds of Picard number
1 are horospherical varieties. We characterize standard embeddings of smooth
Schubert varieties in rational homogeneous manifolds of Picard number 1 by
means of varieties of minimal rational tangents. In particular, we mainly
consider nonhomogeneous smooth Schubert varieties in symplectic Grassmannians
and in the 20-dimensional -homogeneous manifold associated to a short
simple root.Comment: 22 page
