van der Waals coupling in atomically doped carbon nanotubes
We have investigated atom-nanotube van der Waals (vdW) coupling in atomically
doped carbon nanotubes (CNs). Our approach is based on the perturbation theory
for degenerated atomic levels, thus accounting for both weak and strong
atom-vacuum-field coupling. The vdW energy is described by an integral equation
represented in terms of the local photonic density of states (DOS). By solving
it numerically, we demonstrate the inapplicability of standard
weak-coupling-based vdW interaction models in a close vicinity of the CN
surface where the local photonic DOS effectively increases, giving rise to an
atom-field coupling enhancement. An inside encapsulation of atoms into the CN
has been shown to be energetically more favorable than their outside adsorption
by the CN surface. If the atom is fixed outside the CN, the modulus of the vdW
energy increases with the CN radius provided that the weak atom-field coupling
regime is realized (i.e., far enough from the CN). For inside atomic position,
the modulus of the vdW energy decreases with the CN radius, representing a
general effect of the effective interaction area reduction with lowering the CN
curvature.Comment: 15 pages, 5 figure
An Experimental Study on Relationship Between Intellectual Concentration and Personal Mental Characteristics
1st International Conference on Human Systems Engineering and Design (IHSED2018): Future Trends and Applications, October 25-27, 2018, CHU-Université de Reims Champagne-Ardenne, France. As a proposal of new diagnosis for mental diseases, this study focused on the relationship between intellectual concentration and personal mental characteristics. It is expected that the measurement of concentration characteristics may help the diagnosis of the mental disorders because the mental characteristics such as psychiatric disease, developmental disorder and behavioral feature are supposed to be closely related to their mental activity such as concentration. When analyzing the relationship, the characteristics of concentration are expressed as 36 feature values by analyzing answering time distribution of cognitive task, and the values of concentration were compressed to 5 main factors by principal component analysis. Then the combination of the factors and one of 36 parameters of mental characteristics were given to a decision tree analysis tool

2D Visualization of the Psoriasis Transcriptome Fails to Support the Existence of Dual-Secreting IL-17A/IL-22 Th17 T Cells.
The present paradigm of psoriasis pathogenesis revolves around the IL-23/IL-17A axis. Dual-secreting Th17 T cells presumably are the predominant sources of the psoriasis phenotype-driving cytokines, IL-17A and IL-22. We thus conducted a meta-analysis of independently acquired RNA-seq psoriasis datasets to explore the relationship between the expression of IL17A and IL22. This analysis failed to support the existence of dual secreting IL-17A/IL-22 Th17 cells as a major source of these cytokines. However, variable relationships amongst the expression of psoriasis susceptibility genes and of IL17A, IL22, and IL23A were identified. Additionally, to shed light on gene expression relationships in psoriasis, we applied a machine learning nonlinear dimensionality reduction strategy (t-SNE) to display the entire psoriasis transcriptome as a 2-dimensonal image. This analysis revealed a variety of gene clusters, relevant to psoriasis pathophysiology but failed to support a relationship between IL17A and IL22. These results support existing theories on alternative sources of IL-17A and IL-22 in psoriasis such as a Th22 cells and non-T cell populations
Projectile Fragmentation of the Extremely Neutron-Rich Nucleus ^<11>Li at o.79 GeV/nucleon
Projectile fragmentations of ^Li, ^He, and ^He have been measured at 0.79 GeV/nucleon. Production cross sections and momentum distributions of the produced isotopes (Z≥2) are measured inclusively. Transverse-momentum distributions of ^Li from the fragmentation of ^Li show two Gaussian components of different widths. The width of the wide component is consistent with the values observed in the fragmentation of stable nuclei, whereas the other component shows an extremely narrow width reflecting the weak binding of the two outer neutrons in the ^Li nucleus
Spontaneous decay dynamics in atomically doped carbon nanotubes
We report a strictly non-exponential spontaneous decay dynamics of an excited
two-level atom placed inside or at different distances outside a carbon
nanotube (CN). This is the result of strong non-Markovian memory effects
arising from the rapid variation of the photonic density of states with
frequency near the CN. The system exhibits vacuum-field Rabi oscillations, a
principal signature of strong atom-vacuum-field coupling, when the atom is
close enough to the nanotube surface and the atomic transition frequency is in
the vicinity of the resonance of the photonic density of states. Caused by
decreasing the atom-field coupling strength, the non-exponential decay dynamics
gives place to the exponential one if the atom moves away from the CN surface.
Thus, atom-field coupling and the character of the spontaneous decay dynamics,
respectively, may be controlled by changing the distance between the atom and
CN surface by means of a proper preparation of atomically doped CNs. This opens
routes for new challenging nanophotonics applications of atomically doped CN
systems as various sources of coherent light emitted by dopant atoms.Comment: 10 pages, 4 figure
Stochastic Pulse Switching in a Degenerate Resonant Optical Medium
Using the idealized integrable Maxwell-Bloch model, we describe random
optical-pulse polarization switching along an active optical medium in the
Lambda-configuration with disordered occupation numbers of its lower energy
sub-level pair. The description combines complete integrability and stochastic
dynamics. For the single-soliton pulse, we derive the statistics of the
electric-field polarization ellipse at a given point along the medium in closed
form. If the average initial population difference of the two lower sub-levels
vanishes, we show that the pulse polarization will switch intermittently
between the two circular polarizations as it travels along the medium. If this
difference does not vanish, the pulse will eventually forever remain in the
circular polarization determined by which sub-level is more occupied on
average. We also derive the exact expressions for the statistics of the
polarization-switching dynamics, such as the probability distribution of the
distance between two consecutive switches and the percentage of the distance
along the medium the pulse spends in the elliptical polarization of a given
orientation in the case of vanishing average initial population difference. We
find that the latter distribution is given in terms of the well-known arcsine
law
Some forgotten features of the Bose Einstein Correlations
Notwithstanding the visible maturity of the subject of Bose-Einstein
Correlations (BEC), as witnessed nowadays, we would like to bring to ones
attention two points, which apparently did not received attention they deserve:
the problem of the choice of the form of correlation function when
effects of partial coherence of the hadronizing source are to be included and
the feasibility to model effects of Bose-Einstein statistics, in particular the
BEC, by direct numerical simulations.Comment: Talk delivered by G.Wilk at the International Workshop {\it

On the possible space-time fractality of the emitting source
Using simple space-time implementation of the random cascade model we
investigate numerically a conjecture made some time ago which was joining the
intermittent behaviour of spectra of emitted particles with the possible
fractal structure of the emitting source. We demonstrate that such details are
seen, as expected, in the Bose-Einstein correlations between identical
particles. \\Comment: Thoroughly rewritten and modify version, to be published in Phys.
