DINÂMICA DOS PRINCIPAIS DOMÍNIOS FITOGEOGRÁFICOS DO NORDESTE BRASILEIRO E SUAS CONEXÕES COM A PRECIPITAÇÃO

his study deals with the temporal variability of Normalized DifferenceVegetation Index (NDVI) for four main vegetation types in the brazilian northeast region: caatinga, cerrado, seasonal forest and ombrophilous forest. The data set used consists of images from the Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer/National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (AVHRR/NOAA) for the 1982-1998 period and rainfall observations from Superintendência para o Desenvolvimento do Nordeste (SUDENE) network. The analyzes were done using monthly rainfall, NDVI composites and their annual amplitude and phase, both in normal and El Niño years. Seasonal and annual rainfall distribution and NDVI time series show distinct behaviour particularly in El Niño years. Also, the amplitude of the NDVI is related to seasonal cycles of rainfall and vegetation cover, being sensitive to climatic anomalies. In northern Ceará state, backlands of Pernambuco state and central Maranhão state, the phase of the first harmonic shows that the timing of the growing season during EN years occurs one month later than the observed one in normal years. Key-words: NDVI; rainfall.Este trabalho analisa a variabilidade temporal do Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) para os quatro principais domínios fitogeográficos do Nordeste brasileiro: caatinga, cerrado, floresta estacional e floresta ombrófila. Foram utilizados dados NDVI obtidos pelo sensor Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) a bordo do satélite National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) e de precipitação da Superintendência para o Desenvolvimento do Nordeste (SUDENE) para o período de 1982-1998. As análises foram feitas caracterizando-se o comportamento médio, amplitude e fase do NDVI em anos normais e de El Niño (EN). Os resultados obtidos mostram que o NDVI e o regime pluviométrico dos quatro tipos de vegetação apresentam comportamento distinto em função da variabilidade sazonal e interanual, principalmente em anos de EN. Observou-se também que a amplitude do primeiro harmônico do ciclo anual é sensível às anomalias climáticas, reflete o regime pluviométrico e caracteriza a variabilidade sazonal da cobertura vegetal no Nordeste. Por outro lado, a fase do ciclo anual sugere que em anos de EN o período de máxima variabilidade sazonal no norte do Ceará, interior de Pernambuco e centro do Maranhão, antecipa-se um mês em relação ao observado em anos normais. Ecosocialism - reflections about the concept from the work "What is Ecosocialism?" by Michel Löwy.

O presente estudo alicerça-se no debate a respeito do conceito de Ecossocialismo proposto por Michel Löwy. Ecossocialismo representa uma abordagem alternativa e crítica ao conceito de Desenvolvimento Sustentável sob uma perspectiva liberal, tal qual tem sido propagado como ideário dominante à busca por um modelo alternativo de desenvolvimento frente à crise ecológica global. A reflexão sobre a temática ecossocialista mostra-se essencial na formação de cidadãos críticos, capazes de discernir a respeito da questão socioambiental. Foi possível depreender que a proposta ecossocialista de Löwy nos convida o tempo inteiro a mudar de lógica, contribuindo para um abandono ao supérfluo, ao acúmulo inútil, à velocidade “maquínica”, ao desperdício e à acumulação de acúmulo. Foi possível inferir que o Ecossocialismo se apresenta como proposta fulcral no tratamento das questões socioambientais contemporâneas, dado que transcende os limites do pragmatismo desenvolvimentista e do “senso-comum” que tem orientado as discussões sobre desenvolvimento sustentável.The present study is based on the debate about the concept of Ecosocialism proposed by Michel Löwy. Ecosocialism represents an alternative and critical approach of the concept of Sustainable Development from a liberal perspective, such as has been propagated as a dominant ideology regarding the search for an alternative model of development. In this way, reflecting on the ecosocialist theme is essential in the formation of critical citizens, capable of discerning about the socio-environmental issue. Therefore, Löwy's proposal invites us all the time to change logic, contributing to abandonment the superfluous, the useless accumulation, the "machinic" speed, the waste and the accumulation of accumulation. It was also possible to infer that Ecosocialism presents itself as a central proposal in the treatment of contemporary socio-environmental issues, since it transcends the limits of developmentalist pragmatism and the "common sense" that has guided the discussions on sustainable development.
