Over the past couple of years, the extent of the services provided on the mobile devices has increased rapidly. A special class of service among them is the Location Based Service(LBS) which depends on the geographical position of the user to provide services to the end users. However, a mobile device is still resource constrained, and some applications usually demand more resources than a mobile device can a ord. To alleviate this, a mobile device should get resources from an external source. One of such sources is cloud computing platforms. We can predict that the mobile area will take on a boom with the advent of this new concept. The aim of this paper is to exchange messages between user and location service provider in mobile device accessing the cloud by minimizing cost, data storage and processing power. Our main goal is to provide dynamic location-based service and increase the information retrieve accuracy especially on the limited mobile screen by accessing cloud application. In this paper we present location based restaurant information retrieval system and we have developed our application in Android.Comment: 11 pages, 10 figure

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) has been implemented through sponsorships, philanthropy, and cause-related marketing (CRM), amongst which CRM has aroused the interest of many academicians and stakeholders. The study aims to examine the antecedents of cause-related marketing while considering attitude as a mediator to test its relationship with the purchase intention. The snowball sampling technique for data collection was administered to Indian millennial consumers from the regions of Karnataka and Kerala. A total of 313 valid cases were selected for the analysis, which employed partial least squares (PLS) based on structural equation modeling (SEM). The findings have shown that a positive relationship exists between cause participation and purchase intention. Further, product/cause congruence & consumer/cause identification had a positive impact on attitude, while attitude, in turn, showed a favorable association with the purchase intention. This study disclosed the relative importance of the compatibility between the social causes supported by the company with its engaged business while adopting CRM campaigns, and highlighted the need for the involvement of consumers in the CRM programs for their effectiveness

Formal Verification of Safety Properties for Ownership Authentication Transfer Protocol

In ubiquitous computing devices, users tend to store some valuable information in their device. Even though the device can be borrowed by the other user temporarily, it is not safe for any user to borrow or lend the device as it may cause private data of the user to be public. To safeguard the user data and also to preserve user privacy we propose and model the technique of ownership authentication transfer. The user who is willing to sell the device has to transfer the ownership of the device under sale. Once the device is sold and the ownership has been transferred, the old owner will not be able to use that device at any cost. Either of the users will not be able to use the device if the process of ownership has not been carried out properly. This also takes care of the scenario when the device has been stolen or lost, avoiding the impersonation attack. The aim of this paper is to model basic process of proposed ownership authentication transfer protocol and check its safety properties by representing it using CSP and model checking approach. For model checking we have used a symbolic model checker tool called NuSMV. The safety properties of ownership transfer protocol has been modeled in terms of CTL specification and it is observed that the system satisfies all the protocol constraint and is safe to be deployed.Comment: 16 pages, 7 figures,Submitted to ADCOM 201

Post-traumatic high vaginal stricture and hematocolpos impersonating vaginal septum in adolescent girl: a case report

    Get PDF
Vaginal stenosis was once a well-known condition in various nations. Vaginal stenosis can be caused by a variety of factors and manifest in a variety of ways. Because its occurrence is based on misinformation and cultural beliefs, acquired gynaetresia continues to be a major public health concern in underdeveloped nations, despite the fact that it is preventable. Traditional treatment involves an abdomino-perineal approach that requires a laparotomy. We are presenting a rare instance of vaginal stenosis following perineal trauma in an adolescent girl, which resulted in hematocolpos, and also as a novel laparoscopic technique to the management of significant vaginal stenosis

Multi-color imaging in a unilateral central retinal artery occlusion following dengue fever: A case report and literature review

    Get PDF
Background: Dengue fever is associated with various sight-threatening ocular manifestations, some of which can occur several months after fever. These include subconjunctival hemorrhage, vitreous hemorrhage, retinal hemorrhage, cotton wool spots, central and branch retinal artery occlusion, central scotoma, papilledema, optic neuropathy, retinal vasculitis, retinitis, retinal pigment epithelium mottling, foveolitis, choroidal effusion, exudative retinal detachment, anterior uveitis, endogenous endophthalmitis, and panophthalmitis. Herein, we report a patient with unilateral central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO) and raised dengue immunoglobulin G (IgG) titers who underwent serial multimodal imaging with fundus photography, spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT), optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA), and multi-color imaging (MCI). Furthermore, we reviewed recent publications highlighting different eye diseases and the role of MCI in their diagnosis and serial monitoring. Case presentation: A 53-year-old Asian Indian woman complained of blurring of vision in the right eye (OD) two months after a bout of fever. Her best-corrected distance visual acuity was finger counting close to the face in the OD and 20/40 in the left eye. CRAO of the OD was diagnosed. Systemic investigations were normal except for elevated dengue IgG levels. Optical coherence tomography and fluorescein angiography confirmed this diagnosis. MCI and SD-OCT using Spectralis™ performed before and after treatment with oral steroids demonstrated improvement. MCI served as a noninvasive ancillary tool for monitoring the CRAO. In addition to the case report, we summarize articles pertaining to MCI published during the years 2018–2022. The list is not exhaustive but highlights salient features of different retinal and choroidal disorders evaluated using MCI. Our summary highlights the role of MCI in the diagnosis and serial monitoring of eye diseases. Conclusions: A diagnosis of post-dengue fever retinal artery occlusion should be made after ruling out other causes of retinal artery vascular occlusion. We demonstrated retinal changes using serial imaging. MCI can be a useful tool, along with SD-OCT, to monitor clinical improvement. Optometrists can follow up patients with retinal vascular occlusions using noninvasive methods

A rare case of ulnar nerve calcification in a patient without Hansen’s disease

    Get PDF
Ulnar nerve calcification is rarely seen without association with Hansen’s disease. Ulnar nerve arises from brachial plexus within the axilla and is a major peripheral nerve of the upper limb. Its root value is C8-T1. It is one of the superficial nerves and is the most commonly affected nerve in leprosy. Our patient 52 years old female, came to Dr. D. Y. Patil hospital, Nerul casualty with a history of fall in bathroom and complaining of pain in right elbow with no neurological deficit. The radiological investigations confirmed a severely comminuted intra-articular humeral condylar fracture of the right side with a linear calcification seen in soft tissues near the ulnar nerve. It is an idiopathic ulnar nerve calcification of the right side. Hence, ulnar nerve calcification can also be seen in patients without Hansen’s disease

Time to shift from contemporary to high-sensitivity cardiac troponin in diagnosis of acute coronary syndromes

AbstractEarly rule-in and rule-out of non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) is a challenge. In patients with inconclusive findings on ECG, cardiac biomarkers play a crucial role in the diagnosis. The introduction of the new high-sensitive cardiac troponin test (hs-TnI assay) has changed the landscape of NSTEMI diagnosis. The new hs-TnI assay can detect troponin values at a lower level compared with a contemporary cardiac troponin (cTn) assay. The hs-cTnI assay has a coefficient of variation of ≤10%, well below the 99th percentile value. It reduces the time to diagnose acute myocardial infarction from 6h to 3h. A recent study has demonstrated that hs-cTnI can further reduce the time to 1h in 70% of all patients with chest pain. The European Society of Cardiology 2015 guidelines recommend including a second sample of hs-cTnI within 3h of presentation This increases the sensitivity of the hs-TnI assay from 82.3% (at admission) to 98.2% and negative predictive value from 94.7% (at admission) to 99.4%. Combining the 99th percentile at admission with serial changes in troponin increases the positive predictive value to rule in acute coronary syndrome from 75.1% at admission to 95.8% after 3h.The 2015 ESC Guidelines recommend the use of a rapid rule out protocol (0h and 1h) when hs-cTnI with a validated 0 to1h algorithm is available.Training and displaying the clinical algorithm depicting the role of hs-TnI assay in acute cardiac care units and in EDs are an efficient way to deliver the new standard of care to patients. Compared with contemporary troponin assays, the hs-cTn assay accelerates the diagnostic pathway to 0–1h, thus reducing the time for diagnosis of NSTEMI and hence, its management
