Model Predictive BESS Control for Demand Charge Management and PV-Utilization Improvement
Adoption of battery energy storage systems for behind-the-meters application
offers valuable benefits for demand charge management as well as increasing
PV-utilization. The key point is that while the benefit/cost ratio for a single
application may not be favorable for economic benefits of storage systems,
stacked services can provide multiple revenue streams for the same investment.
Under this framework, we propose a model predictive controller to reduce demand
charge cost and enhance PV-utilization level simultaneously. Different load
patterns have been considered in this study and results are compared to the
conventional rule-based controller. The results verified that the proposed
controller provides satisfactory performance by improving the PV-utilization
rate between 60% to 80% without significant changes in demand charge (DC)
saving. Furthermore, our results suggest that batteries can be used for
stacking multiple services to improve their benefits. Quantitative analysis for
PV-utilization as a function of battery size and prediction time window has

Application of Relativistic Coupled-cluster Theory to Electron Impact Excitations of Mg in the Plasma Environment
A relativistic coupled-cluster (RCC) theory is implemented to study electron
impact excitations of atomic species. As a test case, the electron impact
excitations of the resonance transitions
are investigated in the singly charged magnesium (Mg) ion using this
theory. Accuracies of wave functions of Mg are justified by evaluating its
attachment energies of the relevant states and compared with the experimental
values. The continuum wave function of the projectile electron are obtained by
solving Dirac equations assuming distortion potential as static potential of
the ground state of Mg. Comparison of the calculated electron impact
excitation differential and total cross-sections with the available
measurements are found to be in very good agreements at various incident
electron energies. Further, calculations are carried out in the plasma
environment in the Debye H\"uckel model framework, which could be useful in the
astrophysics. Influence of plasma strength on the cross-sections as well as
linear polarization of the photon emission in the transition is investigated for different incident electron energies.Comment: 9 pages, 1 table and 3 figure
Sarcoma immunotherapy.
Much of our knowledge regarding cancer immunotherapy has been derived from sarcoma models. However, translation of preclinical findings to bedside success has been limited in this disease, though several intriguing clinical studies hint at the potential efficacy of this treatment modality. The rarity and heterogeneity of tumors of mesenchymal origin continues to be a challenge from a therapeutic standpoint. Nonetheless, sarcomas remain attractive targets for immunotherapy, as they can be characterized by specific epitopes, either from their mesenchymal origins or specific alterations in gene products. To date, standard vaccine trials have proven disappointing, likely due to mechanisms by which tumors equilibrate with and ultimately escape immune surveillance. More sophisticated approaches will likely require multimodal techniques, both by enhancing immunity, but also geared towards overcoming innate mechanisms of immunosuppression that favor tumorigenesis
Clinical profile, maternal and fetal outcome in pregnant women with COVID-19 infection: a retrospective observational study in a tertiary care hospital of Himachal Pradesh
Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical characteristics and outcomes of pregnant women confirmed with COVID-19 infections and their neonates to provide more reference to contribute in managing this noval viral disease.Methods: We conducted a retrospective study over a period of six months; 20 March, 2020 to 8 October, 2020 at SLBSGMC Nerchowk (Himachal Pradesh). Total number of pregnant women who delivered in our hospital during the defined study period was recorded and analysed.Results: The total number of women were delivered over the study period was 13, out of which caesarean sections (CS) were 7 and NVDs were 6 in number. All of them were diagnosed mild COVID-19, and none one of the patients developed severe COVID-19 or died. Their all newborns were recorded healthy except one was COVID positive and one neonate had birth asphyxia.Conclusions: Apparently no difference was observed in relation to onset of disease, symptoms, cure rates or severity in pregnant women when compared to non-pregnant women and healthy men of similar age groups. Pregnancy does not seem to deteriorate the course and prognosis of the disease. Maternal and fetal outcomes are apparently favourable in these patients. Lastly COVID-19 is not an indication of cesarean section. More multicentre studies are the need of the hour to formulate the authentic management guidelines for this novel disease
