    Non-linear stability in photogravitational non-planar restricted three body problem with oblate smaller primary

    We have discussed non-linear stability in photogravitational non-planar restricted three body problem with oblate smaller primary. By photogravitational we mean that both primaries are radiating. We normalised the Hamiltonian using Lie transform as in Coppola and Rand (1989). We transformed the system into Birkhoff's normal form. Lie transforms reduce the system to an equivalent simpler system which is immediately solvable. Applying Arnold's theorem, we have found non-linear stability criteria. We conclude that L6L_6 is stable. We plotted graphs for (ω1,D2).(\omega_1, D_2). They are rectangular hyperbola.Comment: Accepted for publication in Astrophysics & Space Scienc

    Acute T- cell lymphoblastic lymphoma - A case report

    We highlight the case of a two year old female who presented with a two month history of left posterior auricular swelling. The swelling developed following trauma, was painless and progressively enlarging. After extensive evaluation the mass was noted to be an extramedullary presentation of Acute T cell lymphoblastic lymphoma, which is rare. We decided to present this as a case report because of its unique presentation, diagnostic challenge and we also wish to highlight the importance of immunohistochemistry in diagnosis of malignancies

    Optimisation of Flight and Maintenance Planning for Defence Aviation with Modified Artificial Bee Colony Algorithm

    The planning of flight operations and maintenance is a crucial activity for both commercial and military aircraft. Military aircraft have to be always mission-ready. The task of ensuring this can become quite challenging when several operational requirements and maintenance constraints are to be fulfilled simultaneously. This paper, therefore, addresses the optimisation of flight and maintenance planning (FMP) when several diverse factors such as aircraft flying hours (AFH), flight cycles (FC), calendar life, annual flying requirement (AFR), etc. are to be factored in. Such a problem has not been considered previously. Because the problem can become unwieldy to solve by other methods, two schemes, that is, the genetic algorithm (GA) and modified artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm for constrained optimisation have been utilised. The objective is to maximise the utilisation rate (UR) of aircraft, while also satisfying other operational and maintenance constraints. The algorithm is tested on a fleet of eight aircraft. In addition to a one-year planning period, a planning horizon of ten years has also been simulated. The results show that both the GA and modified ABC algorithm can be effectively used to solve the FMP problem

    Cold Nuclear Matter Effects on Dijet Productions in Relativistic Heavy-ion Reactions at LHC

    We investigate the cold nuclear matter(CNM) effects on dijet productions in high-energy nuclear collisions at LHC with the next-to-leading order perturbative QCD. The nuclear modifications for dijet angular distributions, dijet invariant mass spectra, dijet transverse momentum spectra and dijet momentum imbalance due to CNM effects are calculated by incorporating EPS, EKS, HKN and DS param-etrization sets of parton distributions in nucleus . It is found that dijet angular distributions and dijet momentum imbalance are insensitive to the initial-state CNM effects and thus provide optimal tools to study the final-state hot QGP effects such as jet quenching. On the other hand, the invariant mass spectra and the transverse momentum spectra of dijet are generally enhanced in a wide region of the invariant mass or transverse momentum due to CNM effects with a feature opposite to the expected suppression because of the final-state parton energy loss effect in the QGP. The difference of EPS, EKS, HKN and DS parametrization sets of nuclear parton distribution functions is appreciable for dijet invariant mass spectra and transverse momentum spectra at p+Pb collisions, and becomes more pronounced for those at Pb+Pb reactions.Comment: 10 pages, 11 figure

    The influence of individual cognitive style on performance in management education

    This paper reports the outcomes of an empirical study undertaken to explore the possibility that cognitive style may be an important factor influencing performance on certain types of task in management education. Four hundred and twelve final-year undergraduate degree students studying management and business administration were tested using the Allinson-Hayes Cognitive Style Index. Their cognitive styles were then compared with assessment grades achieved for academic modules, the task categories of which were deemed to be consonant with either the wholist/intuitive or the analytic style of working. Overall ability defined by final degree grades was also tested against individuals’ cognitive styles. As expected, students whose dominant cognitive styles were analytic attained higher grades for long term solitary tasks involving careful planning and analysis of information. However, contrary to expectations, performance on tasks believed to be more suited to the wholist/intuitive style was also higher for analytic individuals, as was overall ability defined by final degree grades. The results were discussed in terms of the nature of the tasks and the need for methods of performance assessment that are independent of an orientation bias. Without this, it is argued, employment selection criteria may favour the wrong type of candidate in some circumstances

    Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus Contamination of Hands and Mobile Phones of Health Care Workers in a Health Care Setting: A Silent Threat

    Background: The extensive use of mobile phones in the hospital among health care workers (HCWs) can lead to infectious agents being transferred from one patient to another and thus serve as a vehicle in the transmission of nosocomial pathogens. Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus auerus (MRSA) contamination of mobile phones and hands of HCWs in Gandaki Medical College and Teaching Hospital. Methods: The present study was hospital and laboratory based cross-sectional study, carried out from April, 2017 to December, 2017. A total of 100 mobile phone swab and 100 hand swab samples of HCWs were collected and cultured directly on MacConkey agar, blood agar, and mannitol salt agar after 24 hrs of enrichment. All the isolated organisms including MRSA were identified using standard microbiological techniques and subjected to antibiotic susceptibility testing using disc diffusion technique. Results: Among the Gram positive isolates, frequency distribution from mobile phones showed the highest prevalence of coagulase negative Staphylococci (CONS) (34.69%), followed by Staphylococcus aureus (20.41%), Bacillus spp (15.31%), Micrococci spp (11.23%), however considerable number of Diptheroides (8.16%), Enterococci (6.12%) and Streptococcus pneumoniae (4.08%). Siimilarly from hand swabs CONS (39.62%), followed by S. aureus (26.42%), Bacillus spp (10.38%), Micrococci (11.32%), Enterococci (6.60%) and Diptheroids (5.66%) were isolated. The frequency of MRSA was 20%, 25% among mobile phones and hands of HCWs respectively. Drugs like Vancomycin, Amikacin, Clindamycin and Gentamycin were found quite effective against S. aureus in the present study and would be better options for the management of such infections. Conclusions: Mobile phones and hands of HCWs were the potential source of nosocomial infections including multidrug-resistant pathogens like methicillin-resistant S. aureus

    Optimization of neuropsychological scores at the baseline visit using evolutionary technique

    The neuropsychological battery of scores, are the measures of cognitive domains of human brain, that are considered as important features to distinguish healthy subjects from the subjects, suffering from Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI). The instances of about 5542, with four time visits are separated from the total collected instances of the National Alzheimer's Coordinating Center (NACC) database. The analysis of the selected data shows that the large number of subjects is identified for 66-75 and 76-85 age groups. The Genetic Algorithms (GA) applied on the neuropsychological scores at the baseline visit, selects the best subset of scores required for the clinical diagnosis, and these scores are evaluated by the logistic regression model using Area Under Curve (AUC), accuracy and Mean Squared Error (MSE) as the metric. Simulations result show that a highest classification accuracy of 0.9427, AUC of 0.9713

    Optimal energy management of multi-carrier energy system considering uncertainty in renewable generation

    This paper presents a structured approach for the efficient operation of multi-carrier energy systems under the uncertainty of renewable energy sources. As the penetration of wind and solar energy increases, managing the resulting variability becomes critical to maintaining both economic efficiency and operational flexibility. To address this, a two-stage multi objective optimization framework is proposed. In the first stage, the objective is to minimize daily operational costs while incorporating the uncertain behavior of renewables using a scenario-based stochastic approach. The second stage focuses on simultaneously enhancing system flexibility by maximizing the available capacities for both electrical and thermal energy generation and improving green house emissions. To evaluate system adaptability, two performance indicators are introduced: the Average Energy Generation Flexibility Index (AEGFI) and the Average Thermal Generation Flexibility Index (ATGFI). The optimization model is solved using the Modified Water Evaporation algorithm. Sensitivity analyses are also conducted to explore the effects of fluctuations in gas and electricity prices on system performance. The proposed model is applied to a generalized multi-carrier energy system. Simulation results demonstrate significant improvements in flexibility, with AEGFI and ATGFI increasing by 27.43% and 39.91%, respectively. Overall, the framework offers a comprehensive solution to balance cost-effectiveness and flexibility in energy systems with high shares of renewables
