    Primary Leiomyosarcoma of Ovary

    Get PDF
Primary ovarian leiomyosarcomas is a rare neoplasm which comprises less than 3% of ovarian tumors. Their origin, etiology, histologic features, clinical behavior, and optimal treatment are still obscure. We report a case of leiomyosarcoma of ovary, diagnosed on histopathology in a 60 year old female and discuss the literature

Reply on `comment on our paper `Single two-level ion in an anharmonic-oscillator trap: Time evolution of the Q function and population inversion ''

We show here that the model Hamiltonian used in our paper for ion vibrating in a q-analog harmonic oscillator trap and interacting with a classical single-mode light field is indeed obtained by replacing the usual bosonic creation and annihilation operators of the harmonic trap model by their q-deformed counterparts. The approximations made in our paper amount to using for the ion-laser interaction in a q-analog harmonic oscillator trap, the operator F_{q}=exp{-(|\epsilon|^2}/2)}exp{i\epsilon A^{\dagger}}exp{i\epsilon A}, which is analogous to the corresponding operator for ion in a harmonic oscillator trap that is F=exp−(∣ϵ∣2/2)expiϵa†expiϵaF=exp{-(|\epsilon|^2 /2)}exp{i\epsilon a^{\dagger }}exp{i\epsilon a}. In our article we do not claim to have diagonalized the operator, Fq=expiϵ(A†+A)F_q = exp{i \epsilon (A^{\dagger}+A)}, for which the basis states |g,m> and |e,m> are not analytic vectors.Comment: Revtex, 4pages. A low-order decomposition of turbulent channel flow via resolvent analysis and convex optimization

    Get PDF
We combine resolvent-mode decomposition with techniques from convex optimization to optimally approximate velocity spectra in a turbulent channel. The velocity is expressed as a weighted sum of resolvent modes that are dynamically significant, non-empirical, and scalable with Reynolds number. To optimally represent DNS data at friction Reynolds number 20032003, we determine the weights of resolvent modes as the solution of a convex optimization problem. Using only 1212 modes per wall-parallel wavenumber pair and temporal frequency, we obtain close agreement with DNS-spectra, reducing the wall-normal and temporal resolutions used in the simulation by three orders of magnitude

Coping Ability of Medical and Nursing Students: A Cause of Concern

    Get PDF
Background: Medical students today are subject to a variety of stress; academic, social, emotional or stress in the form of affliction of health during their stay at medical school. The physiological response to these depends on various factors including their inherent coping abilities. This study was designed to examine the coping ability of medical and nursing students at the time of admission to medical school. Materials and Methods: 42 medical and 34 nursing students volunteered for the study. They were administered the BAI questionnaire and classified as good and poor adjusters based on their score. Results: The study revealed an unsatisfactory overall coping ability to be prevalent among medical and nursing students. Conclusion: This study showed that there is a need for orientation and counselling of medical and nursing students at the start of college

The nuclear shell effects near the r-process path in the relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov theory

We have investigated the evolution of the shell structure of nuclei in going from the r-process path to the neutron drip line within the framework of the Relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov (RHB) theory. By introducing the quartic self-coupling of ω\omega meson in the RHB theory in addition to the non-linear scalar coupling of σ\sigma meson, we reproduce the available data on the shell effects about the waiting-point nucleus 80^{80}Zn. With this approach, it is shown that the shell effects at N=82 in the inaccessible region of the r-process path become milder as compared to the Lagrangian with the scalar self-coupling only. However, the shell effects remain stronger as compared to the quenching exhibited by the HFB+SkP approach. It is also shown that in reaching out to the extreme point at the neutron drip line, a terminal situation arises where the shell structure at the magic number is washed out significantly.Comment: 18 pages (revtex), 8 ps figures, to appear in Phys.
