Estimation of unsteady aerodynamic forces using pointwise velocity data
A novel method to estimate unsteady aerodynamic force coefficients from
pointwise velocity measurements is presented. The methodology is based on a
resolvent-based reduced-order model which requires the mean flow to obtain
physical flow structures and pointwise measurement to calibrate their
amplitudes. A computationally-affordable time-stepping methodology to obtain
resolvent modes in non-trivial flow domains is introduced and compared to
previous existing matrix-free and matrix-forming strategies. The technique is
applied to the unsteady flow around an inclined square cylinder at low Reynolds
number. The potential of the methodology is demonstrated through good agreement
between the fluctuating pressure distribution on the cylinder and the temporal
evolution of the unsteady lift and drag coefficients predicted by the model and
those computed by direct numerical simulation.Comment: In revie
Horizontal-axis tidal turbine blade loading for multi-frequency oscillatory motion
This paper presents results from an experimental study which analysed the hydrodynamic response of the out-of-plane blade root bending moment for a horizontal-axis turbine exposed to multi-frequency oscillatory motion. Estimates of the amplitude and phase agree well with those for single frequency oscillatory motion, which suggests that a model based on the principles of linear superposition is applicable. When minor flow separation is experienced, linear superposition is likely to offer conservative estimates. The findings are likely to be of interest to designers of turbines deployed in tidal streams, rivers or canals, and who are seeking low computational approaches for assessing the dynamic blade loads
Quantification of coarse-graining error in Langevin and overdamped Langevin dynamics
In molecular dynamics and sampling of high dimensional Gibbs measures
coarse-graining is an important technique to reduce the dimensionality of the
problem. We will study and quantify the coarse-graining error between the
coarse-grained dynamics and an effective dynamics. The effective dynamics is a
Markov process on the coarse-grained state space obtained by a closure
procedure from the coarse-grained coefficients. We obtain error estimates both
in relative entropy and Wasserstein distance, for both Langevin and overdamped
Langevin dynamics. The approach allows for vectorial coarse-graining maps.
Hereby, the quality of the chosen coarse-graining is measured by certain
functional inequalities encoding the scale separation of the Gibbs measure. The
method is based on error estimates between solutions of (kinetic) Fokker-Planck
equations in terms of large-deviation rate functionals
Production of nuclei and antinuclei in pp and Pb-Pb collisions with ALICE at the LHC
We present first results on the production of nuclei and antinuclei such as
(anti)deuterons, (anti)tritons, (anti)3He and (anti)4He in pp collisions at
\s = 7 TeV and Pb-Pb collisions at \sNN = 2.76 TeV. These particles are
identified using their energy loss (dE/dx) information in the Time Projection
Chamber of the ALICE experiment. The Inner Tracking System gives a precise
determination of the event vertex, by which primary and secondary particles are
separated. The high statistics of over 360 million events for pp and 16 million
events for Pb-Pb collisions give a significant number of light nuclei and
antinuclei (Pb-Pb collisions: \sim30,000 anti-deuterons() and \sim4
anti-alpha()). The predictions of various particle ratios from the

ABO and Rh Blood Group Distribution Among Kunbis (Maratha) population of Amravati District, Maharashtra
The present study reports the distribution of ABO and Rh blood groups among the Kunbis (Maratha) population of Amravati district. The phenotypic frequency of blood group B is observed highest (33.06) percent, O (31.04), A (27.02) and AB is lowest (08.33) percent. The phenotypic frequency of Rh negative is (04.26) percent. TheKunbis (Maratha) population shows close genetic relationship with the Gujratis
