    Get PDF
This study aimed to unravel the influence of anxiety on language learning and examine its implications for student behavior and academic performance. A comprehensive review of existing literature was conducted to explore the causes, manifestations, and effects of anxiety on language learners. The relationship between anxiety and student behavior in language learning contexts and its impact on academic performance was a particular focus of the investigation. A mixed-methods approach was employed, utilizing both quantitative and qualitative data collection methods. Surveys, interviews, and observations were used to gather data on anxiety levels, student behavior, and academic performance. The collected data were analyzed using appropriate statistical and qualitative analysis techniques to identify patterns, trends, and correlations. The findings of this study contribute to the existing body of knowledge on anxiety in language learning and provide valuable insights into its implications for student behavior and academic performance. By understanding the impact of anxiety, language educators and institutions can develop effective strategies to support language learners and create a more conducive learning environment. Addressing anxiety in language learning has the potential to enhance student outcomes and promote a positive language-learning experience

Resonant frequencies of whispering gallery modes of dielectric resonator

    Get PDF
The modal spectrum of the whispering gallery modes of dielectric resonator depends mainly on its physical dimensions, dielectric constant, and to a lesser extent, on the environment. This paper carries investigation of the resonant frequencies in dielectric disc utilising the ring resonator model. Results of the structural design parameters are used to generate a nume!ical expression for describing the operational frequencies useful for computer-aided design applications. Theoretical and experimental results are given for resonators of various sizes

Case Study: Factors Affecting the Behavior of School Students in the Age of Pre-Adolescence

    Get PDF
Using multilevel modeling, this study sought to understand the factors affecting the behaviour of school students at the age of pre-adolescence. The study included 1977 pre-adolescents (1031 boys, 946 girls) from middle schools (Grades 4тАУ7) in suburban areas of the United States from the Department of Children and Family (DCF) 2014 National Child and Youth Panel Survey database. The individual and environmental effects of significant factors affecting pre-adolescent behavior were studied using multilevel models. Among the characteristics linked to emotional-behavioral difficulties were BMI, study tendency, and socioeconomic status. Emotional-behavioral disorders were linked to connections with teachers, according to more studies. The school, family, friends, community, and media all negatively affect students\u27 conduct. As a result, similar educational institutions should teach students social and emotional skills. This may help reduce student disruption. Individual and environmental factors influence pre-adolescents\u27 emotional-behavioral issues. Preventing emotional-behavioral issues require addressing both the environment in which preadolescents live and their unique traits

Evaluation of Thermodynamic Parameters of Conduction Polymer in Solutions Using Ultrasonic Interferrometric Technique

    Get PDF
The electrical conduction polymer Polyaniline (PANI) base is soluble in selected organic (polar) solvents. The PANI becomes conductive upon partial oxidation or reduction by a process commonly known as doping. The PANI base was doped by chemical method using perchloric acid (HClO4) as a dopant. The doped conducting polymer was dissolved in three selective organic solvents namely p-Cresol (PCL), Dimethyl sulphoxide (DMSO) and 2-Chlorophenol (2CPL). The ultrasonic velocity values were measured for the polymer in solutions using fixed frequency (3MHz) continuous wave ultrasonic interferometer technique at three different temperatures. The related thermodynamic parameters were calculated and their variations with concentration have been discussed with a view to understand the molecular interactions of the conduction polymers in solutions. Hence the acoustic properties of doped PANI in solutions will provide possibly a new product ideas and benefits over the traditional polymers owing to its properties in solutions

Economic viability of mechanized fishing units and socio-economics of fishing ban in Kerala

    Get PDF
In open access unregulated marine fisheries, the viability of a fishing unit greatly influences the entry or exit of vessels in the fishing industry. The economic performance of fishing operations is affected by various factors including fluctuations in revenue, diminishing catch per unit of effort, unforeseen increases in the cost of key inputs and catch and effort restrictions. Capital and labour will continue to enter the fishery until the economic rents are totally dissipated and profits to individual units are reduced to the level of their opportunity costs. In the long run, the reduction in catch rates lead to reduction in fishing effort levels. The economic performance also plays a crucial role in the investment decisions at micro level. The paper analyses the viability of various mechanized fishing units in the Kerala state using different economic and financial indicators. Socioeconomic impact of fishing ban on fishing labour was also worked out and suggestions were given for improving the livelihood security of fish workers

Investigating the Impact of Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) on English as a Second Language (ESL) Instruction in the Classroom

    Get PDF
This research study aimed to investigate the impact of Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) on English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction in the classroom. The integration of CALL had gained increasing attention in language learning due to its potential to enhance instructional practices and learner outcomes. However, empirical research was needed to examine the specific effects of CALL in the ESL context. The study began with a comprehensive literature review to identify gaps and areas requiring further investigation. Specific research questions were formulated to address these gaps. The research design was determined based on the objectives, utilizing an appropriate methodology such as experimental, quasi-experimental, or mixed methods design. Participants consisted of ESL learners from a specific age group or proficiency level, and a suitable sample size and sampling method were determined. Data collection involved various methods such as surveys, observations, interviews, and pre/post-tests to gather comprehensive data. Ethical considerations were addressed, ensuring informed consent and data privacy. The collected data were analyzed using appropriate statistical or qualitative analysis techniques. The results were interpreted to answer the research questions and contribute to the understanding of the impact of CALL on ESL instruction. Visual representations, such as charts and graphs, were included to enhance the presentation of results. The discussion and conclusion provided an interpretation of the findings and their implications for ESL instruction and the integration of CALL. Comparisons with previous research were made, and the limitations of the study were acknowledged. Recommendations for ESL teachers, curriculum developers, and policymakers were provided based on the study\u27s findings. Finally, suggestions for future research were presented to further explore the potential of CALL in the ESL classroom. The research study aimed to contribute to the field of language learning and provide insights that could inform pedagogical practices and instructional design

Sustainability of marine fish production in Kerala-A Bioeconomic analysis

    Get PDF
The study has been undertaken in Kerala State in lndia with an - overall objective of analyzing the bioeconomic conditions of commercially exploited marine fishes for assessing their sustainability in the context of existing management practices. Maximum Sustainable Yield, Maximum Economic Yield and open access levels of yield and effort were analyzed using Gompertz-Fox growth model. The study concluded that the fishing effort exceeded the ecanomically optimal levels and there is unnecessary wastage of money, manpow and fuel in the fishing industry. The study stressed the urgent need for cap&lr@ fisheries management in the State which at present follows an open access fishery where regulations exist only in the form of seasonal -. closure in the monwan seaso

Supply - Demand Analysis of fish in India

    Get PDF
The economic growth, population pressure and changes in the dietary pattern have contributed to the increase in demand for animal origin foods in lndia. The fish prices had increased many times than all other food items over the years. An analysis of fish demand and supply situation in lndia is done and projections were made for the year 2020. Price and income elasticities of fish demand were estimated using exponential function. Export demand and tastes and preferences of consumers were not included in the demand analysis. The fish supply was projected using trend extrapolation method. Estimates of demand model showed that the household expenditure on fish in general as elastic. The study revealed that with the projected population and percapita income growth rates, fish demand in year 2020 will exceed the total fish supply from marine, inland and aquaculture sectors with the current production trend
