Phillip DeVito Award Notification
This 1983 letter from Wine Spectator editor and publisher Marvin R. Shanken notifies Phillip DeVito that his wine cellar at Salishan Lodge is being honored with a Grand Award for having one of the best wine lists in America.
DeVito served as maître d’hôtel and cellar master for the fine dining and wine program at Salishan in Gleneden Beach, Oregon for 22 years. This was the first of 12 consecutive Wine Spectator Grand Awards DeVito and Salishan received. As of 2014, these are the only Grand Awards given to an Oregon establishment
