Monoclonal antibodies in fish and shellfish health management in India

Get PDF
The paper describes the superiority of monoclonal antibodies (MAb) over conventional polyclonal antisera. Studies undertaken indicate that Aeromonas hydrophila isolates are highly heterogenous and variation exists even between isolates from a farm, requiring a large number of MAbs for classification and use of information in vaccine development. However, some of the MAbs could be used for detection of homologous isolates in fish kidney by immunodot assay and evaluation and standardization of biofilm of A. hydrophila for oral vaccination in carps

Incisional Hernia

Incisional hernia is one of the most common postoperative complications after abdominal surgery. Several studies have shown that incisional hernias have different etiologies which are related to the patient, the surgical technique, the suture material and experience of the surgeon. Most patients present with abdominal swelling with some level of discomfort, and in emergency the presentation is usually as bowel obstruction or strangulation which requires urgent exploration. The recurrence rate is almost the same for open as well as for laparoscopic approach. The hernia can be repaired either only by closing the defect with nonabsorbable suture or by applying mesh. The recurrence is very minimal with mesh application as compared to repair done only by suture. The mesh can be placed as onlay, inlay and in sublay positions. The intraperitoneal onlay mesh placement (IPOM) is the widely used laparoscopic method for the incisional hernia repair. The incisional hernia with larger defect usually more than 15 cm requires component separation to reconstruct the abdominal wall by releasing the external oblique or transverse abdominal muscle. The outcome of incisional hernia repair is dependent on the associated comorbid conditions like chronic cough, constipation, stricture of the urethra, benign prostate hyperplasia, ascites and obesity

Simultaneous localization and mapping by using Low-Cost Ultrasonic Sensor for Underwater crawler

Autonomous robots can help people explore parts of the ocean that would be hard or impossible to get to otherwise. The increase in the availability of low-cost components has made it possible to innovate, design, and implement new and innovative ideas for underwater robotics. Cost-effective and open solutions that are available today can be used to replace expensive robot systems. The prototype of an autonomous robot system that functions in brackish waterways in settings such as fish hatcheries is presented in this research. The system has low-cost ultrasonic sensors that use a SLAM algorithm to map and move through the environment. When compared to previous studies that used Lidar sensors, this system's configuration was chosen to keep costs down. A comparison is shown between ultrasonic and lidar sensors, showing their respective pros and cons

Hypoadiponectinemia is associated with increased insulin resistance, dyslipidemia and presence of type 2 diabetes in non obese central Indian population

Background: Accumulating evidence suggests that adiponectin, a major adipocyte secretory protein, has insulin-sensitizing and anti-atherogenic properties and protects against later development of type 2 diabetes. We investigated the association of adiponectin with insulin resistance, blood lipids and type 2 diabetes in non obese central Indian population. Methods: Anthropometric and biochemical parameters were measured in 149 (81 male and 68 female) newly diagnosed non obese type 2 diabetic patients and 157 (85 male and 72 female) age and body mass index (BMI) matched controls. Results: Adiponectin level (p<0.0001) was significantly lower in the diabetic group than in non diabetic control. In an age, gender and BMI adjusted model, adiponectin level was significantly negatively correlated with waist circumference, waist to hip ratio, systolic blood pressure, fasting insulin, homeostasis model assessment-insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) (p= 0.0034), HbA1C, total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, and triglycerides (p<0.0001) and positively correlated with HDL-cholesterol (p =0.0014) in non obese type 2 diabetic group. However, there was no significant correlation between adiponectin and glucose in this study. In stepwise linear regression analysis, adjusted for potential confounder, significant inverse association was observed between serum adiponectin level and HOMA-IR (p = 0.0001). In multivariate logistic regression model, adjusted for age, gender, BMI, waist circumference, and waist-hip ratio, lower adiponectin was independently associated with the presence of type 2 diabetes (p<0.0001).Conclusions: Lower adiponectin levels in non obese type 2 diabetic patients were significantly related to the increased insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, and presence of type 2 diabetes, independently of overall and abdominal adiposity, thereby suggesting a direct link between adiponectin and carbohydrate and lipid metabolism in human

Survey on Faulty Node Detection and Recovery Algorithm for WSN

Get PDF
In Faulty Node Detection and Recovery Algorithm for WNS critical problems like fault tolerance created. Earlier fault tolerance mechanism consume significant extra energy to detect and recover from the failure or having additional hardware and software resources. .Lifetime of sensor node is enhanced because of using diffusion algorithm combined with the genetic algorithm. When some node get faulty in network then this algorithm is useful to avoid performance related data transfer. Wireless sensor networks are having tendency to fail of sensor, due to the energy depletion, failure of hardware’s, conditions of network environment. We sure that that type of algorithm used then result is replacements of sensor nodes and more reused routing paths. Time for data transfer is depend on active nodes that’s why we detect a routing path with faulty node. Power consumption is affect the hierarchy of active nodes that’s why data is not transferred surely. In this proposed algorithm reduces the rate of data loss by approximately 98.8%, and reduces the rate of energy consumption by approximately 31.1%. DOI: 10.17762/ijritcc2321-8169.150310

A Comparative Study on the Shaping Ability of K3, Profile and ProTaper Instruments in Simulated Curved Root Canals

Get PDF
INTRODUCTION: The objective of this study was to compare the shaping ability of three rotary filing systems; constant taper K3 instruments, constant taper ProFile instruments and progressive taper ProTaper rotary instruments in clear resin blocks with simulated curved root canals. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Forty five resin blocks were divided into three groups. Group A preparation was conducted with K3, Group B with ProFile and Group C with ProTaper instruments. Pre and post instrumentation images were superimposed and assessment of the canal shape was completed with a computer image analysis program at 14 levels of the root canal system. RESULTS: Group A inner and outer curvature pre and post instrumentation values were significantly different (P<0.05) at levels 3; at level 13 only the outer curvature and levels 6, 7, 8 the inner curvature had significantly different values between pre and post instrumentation. Group C had significant P values (P<0.05) at levels 2, 3, 4, 12, 13 in the outer curvature and at levels 6, 7, 8 of the inner curvature. CONCLUSION: Overall, all three rotary instruments maintained root canal curvatures well. ProTaper instruments significantly removed more resin material from outer canal curvature in the apical third when compared to the other two groups
