There is
studied anticonvulsant effects of antiepileptic drugs in pentilenetetrazol-induced seizures with
concomitant administration of melatonin. The study was conducted on white outbred mice-male weighing
21β23 g. In studying the effect of melatonin on seizure activity, it was shown that it induces a dosedependent
effect. Melatonin increases the duration of the latent period of onset seizures. In the study
of the combined effect of melatonin enhances the anticonvulsant effect of phenobarbital and retigabine
and does not affect the anticonvulsant effects of valproale. There are studied side effects of melatonin
and its combination with antiepileptic medications

macrogeterocycle C-3 neurotropic effects realization. The experiments were performed on 3-month Wistar rats weighting 160β180 g and mice weighting
18β20 g.
The data obtained revealed that C-3 psychotropic activity characterizes by anticonvulsive activity
wide spectrum appearance that is quite definite from compounds with nootropic activity. Macrogeterocycle C-3 has also expressed antiamnestic efficacy.
It was shown that mode of action of compound C-3 is due to the activation of GABA-ergic system,
that confirmed by the increase of GABA content and the decrease of enzymatic activity of GABA-T in
rats brain gomogenate. The main effects of C-3 (antiamnesic, anticonvulsant) are diminished by bicuculline. Compoud C-3 in concentration of 10-5 M on 50% decreases the binding of 3H-GABA with membrane fraction of rats brain cells. Compound C-3 is more effective by its anticonvulsant activity than
that of reference drugs of depakine and diphenylgidantoine. One could conclude that one of the possible mechanism of macrogeterocycle C-3 psychotropic effects realization is GABA molecule presence that could induce its direct interaction with brain GABA-ergic receptors

Atypical ductal hyperplasia is a proliferation of monomorphic, evenly placed epithelial cells involving terminalduct lobular units. The term atypical ductal hyperplasia identifies a group of lesions with a combination of specifically defined architectural and cytological features that predict an increased risk of subsequent breast cancer. Our case described the visualization of breast atypical ductal hyperplasia with architectural distortion seen in a form of βradianceβ phenomenon in a patient with burdened obstetric and gynecological anamnesis by a tridimensional breast ultrasound examination on the system Siemens Acuson S2000 with mammalogical device ABVS (Automated Breast Volume Scanner).ΠΡΠΈΠΏΠΈΡΠ½Π°Ρ Π΄ΡΠΊΡΠ°Π»ΡΠ½Π°Ρ Π³ΠΈΠΏΠ΅ΡΠΏΠ»Π°Π·ΠΈΡ ΡΡΠΎ ΠΏΡΠΎΠ»ΠΈΡΠ΅ΡΠ°ΡΠΈΡ ΠΌΠΎΠ½ΠΎΠΌΠΎΡΡΠ½ΡΡ

production of different molecules including proinflammatory cytokines, representatives of which are
tumor necrosis factor-alpha and interleukine-1-beta, starting simultaneously with the experimental seizure syndrome. Proinflammatory cytokines levels increase not only in the brain but also in plasma
and cerebro-spinal fluid during the chronic seizures that are in favour of host response generalization
due to cytokines involvement. Experimental results are proved by the numerous clinical data. The
authors concluded about the numerous experimental and clinical data proved the inflammation importance in the epilepsy pathophysiological mechanisms

It is discovered that bis(Β΅-xylarato)dihydrogermanate (IV) with potassium (xygerm-3) has diminished frequency of origin and intensity of the seizure syndrome under these conditions and has increased duration of the latent period of
the first seizures (as compared to drug-references carbamazepin, valproic acid and diazepam), the manifestation of which depends on a dose
Functional interaction of excitatory foci and their complexes in the cerebral cortex
Identifcation of the interaction between excitatory foci and their complexes in the cortex is important for understanding functional organization of the
regions they arise from and help learn the pathophysiological mechanisms of various CNS pathologies development. Aim (S): We aimed to identify the types and mechanisms of interactions between excitatory foci with variable intensity and their complexes in the neocortex
Synergism of lacosamide with established antiepileptic drugs in the 6-Hz seizure model in mice
Lacosamide (LCM, Vimpat) is an anticonvulsant with a unique mode of action. This provides lacosamide with the potential to act additively or even synergistically with other antiepileptic drugs (AEDs). The objective of this study was to determine the presence of such interactions by isobolographic analysis.
Methods: The anticonvulsant effect of LCM in combination with other AEDs including carbamazepine (CBZ), phenytoin (PHT), valproate (VPA), lamotrigine (LTG), topiramate (TPM), gabapentin (GBP), and levetiracetam (LEV) at fixed dose ratios of 1:3, 1:1, and 3:1, was evaluated in the 6-Hzβinduced seizure model in mice. In addition, the impact of the combinations of LCM with the other AEDs on motor coordination was assessed in the rotarod test. Finally, AED concentrations were measured in blood and brain to evaluate potential pharmacokinetic drug interactions. Key Findings: All studied AEDs produced dose-dependent anticonvulsant effects against 6-Hzβinduced seizures. Combinations of LCM with CBZ, LTG, TPM, GBP, or LEV were synergistic. All other LCM/AED combinations displayed additive effects with a tendency toward synergism. Furthermore, no enhanced adverse effects were observed
in the rotarod test by combining LCM with other AEDs. No pharmacokinetic interactions were seen on brain AED concentrations. Coadministration of LCM and TPM led to an increase in plasma levels of LCM, whereas the plasma concentration of PHT was increased by coadministration of LCM. Significance: The synergistic anticonvulsant interaction of LCM with various AEDs, without exacerbation of adverse motor effects, highlights promising properties of LCM as
add-on therapy for drug refractory epilepsy
Two Types of Epileptiform Activity Induced in Rats by Repeated Injections of Subconvulsive Picrotoxin Doses
Seizure activity in rats was induced by picrotoxin i.p. injected every 30 min for 4 h in subconvulsive doses (0.9 mg/kg in the first and 0.7 mg/kg in subsequent injections). Such picrotoxin-evoked epileptiform activity (EA) could be divided into two types, with the development of exclusively peak-wave (P-W) complexes (68.4%) and with generation of regular cortical peaks and only separate short P-W discharges (31.6%). In animals with EA of the first type, we observed the gradual development of clonic seizures of increasing intensities. In some rats of this group after the final (ninth) injection of picrotoxin, dramatic clonico-tonic seizures were observed. In animals with EA of the second type, the duration of P-W discharges after final injections of picrotoxin was shorter than in rats without generation of cortical peaks; these discharges were accompanied by clonic seizures of smaller intensity
