Temperature dependence of electrical characteristics of Pt/GaN Schottky diode fabricated by UHV e-beam evaporation

    Get PDF
Temperature-dependent electrical characterization of Pt/n-GaN Schottky barrier diodes prepared by ultra high vacuum evaporation has been done. Analysis has been made to determine the origin of the anomalous temperature dependence of the Schottky barrier height, the ideality factor, and the Richardson constant calculated from the I-V-T characteristics. Variable-temperature Hall effect measurements have been carried out to understand charge transport at low temperature. The modified activation energy plot from the barrier inhomogeneity model has given the value of 32.2 A/(cm(2) K(2)) for the Richardson constant A** in the temperature range 200 to 380 K which is close to the known value of 26.4A/(cm(2) K(2)) for n-type GaN

Heteroepitaxial Growth of III–V Semiconductors on 2D Materials

    Get PDF
Quasi van der Waals epitaxy (QvdWE) of III-V semiconductors on two-dimensional layered material, such as graphene, is discussed. Layered materials are used as a lattice mismatch/thermal expansion coefficient mismatch-relieving layer to integrate III-V semiconductors on any arbitrary substrates. In this chapter, the epitaxial growth of both III–V nanowires and thin films on two-dimensional layered materials is presented. Also, the growth challenges of thin film on two-dimensional materials using QvdWE are discussed through density functional theory calculations. Furthermore, optoelectronic devices of III-V semiconductors integrated on two-dimensional layered material based on QvdWE are overviewed to prove the future potential and importance of such type of epitaxy

Length Dependence thermal conductivity of Zinc-Selenide (ZnSe) and Zinc Telluride (ZnTe)- A combined first principles and Frequency Domain Thermoreflectance (FDTR) study

In this study, we report the length dependence of thermal conductivity (k) of zinc-blende Zinc-Selenide (ZnSe) and Zinc Telluride (ZnTe) for length scales between 10 nm and 10000 nm using first-principles computations based on density-functional theory. k value of ZnSe is computed to decrease significantly from 11.3 W/mK to 1.75 W/mK as the length scale is diminished from 10 nm to 10 nm. k value of ZnTe is also observed to decrease from 10 W/mK to 1.2 W/mK for the same decrease in length. We also measure the k of bulk ZnSe and ZnTe using Frequency Domain Thermoreflectance (FDTR) technique and observed a good agreement between FDTR measurements and first principles calculations for the bulk ZnSe and ZnTe. Understanding of thermal conductivity reduction at nanometer length scales provides an avenue to incorporate nanostructured ZnSe and ZnTe for thermoelectric applications.Comment: 19 pages, 13 figure

Developing a dynamic website using the online website builder Weebly for Viking Fortune Oy

    Get PDF
Websites play a vital role in product marketing and company branding to achieve a particular goal of business development. The purpose of this bachelor’s thesis is to develop a website for Viking Fortune Oy. A new website for Viking Fortune Oy will allow them to use the website as a marketing tool to increase their product visibility. Viking Fortune Oy is a small-sized company located in Helsinki city centre. The company owns an amber jewellery and antique store named ‘Amber Palace’, where the customers consist of tourists who visits Helsinki during summer. This bachelor’s thesis consists of two sections, a theoretical section and implementation. The theoretical section provides a literature review of website usability, the website as a marketing tool and an understanding of the requirements of a good website. The implementation section focuses on creating a functional website for the case company by using an online website building platform. Qualitative research methods have been used in this thesis project. The outcome of this thesis project was a website for the case company which can be modified by the employees. All parties are satisfied with the result of this thesis project which made this research successful
