A sustainable village phone model to serve the rural developing world
Wireless technologies have created an unprecedented opportunity for rural customers in the developing
world to solve their communication and information problems in an instantaneous, interactive and
customized way. The framework of the study focuses on existing mobile village phone model in
Bangladesh and suggests ways to make it sustainable through mobile information services marketing. The
study has treated âvillage phoneâ as a cost effective and interactive channel through which various time
befitting information can be marketed to serve customers in the rural settings
Quality modeling in electronic healthcare: a study of mHealth Service
Information and communication technologies (ICTs) have the potential to radically transform health services in developing countries. Among various ICT driven health platforms, mobile health is the most promising one because of its widespread penetration and cost effective services. This paper aims to examine Quality Modeling in Electronic Healthcare by using PLS based SEM
Phone ladies - change agents to shape the bottom of the pyramid: experience of Bangladesh
If we stop thinking of the poor as victims of as a burden and start recognizing them as resilient and creative entrepreneurs and value -conscious consumers, a whole new world of opportunity will open up (Prahalad, 2005). \u27Village phone\u27 is such a weapon of social revolution in rural Bangladesh that fights against poverty by facilitating entrepreneurship , reducing transaction costs, and substituting for slow, unreliable transport and postal systems. It is a tool to empower the nation\u27s rural women with earnings, information, dignity and status. The women are now acting as change agents in rural Bangladesh by serving the community as an umbrella of information to solve all the problems at the robust pace. This paper seeks to determine the factors that are influencing the growth of village phone in Bangladesh. Our findings suggest the role of personal characteristics and social factors as crucial determinants for playing the role of change agents in the society
AN ASSESSMENT OF M-HEALTH IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES USING TASK TECHNOLOGY FIT MODEL
Health challenges present arguably the most significant barrier to sustainable global development. The introduction of ICT inhealthcare, especially the application of mobile communications, has created the potential to transform healthcare delivery bymaking it more accessible, affordable and effective across the developing world. However, current research into theassessment of mHealth from the perspective of developing countries particularly with community Health workers (CHWs) asprimary users continues to be limited. The aim of this study is to analyze the contribution of mHealth in enhancing theperformance of the health workers and its alignment with existing workflows to guide its utilization. The proposed researchtakes into account this consideration and aims to examine the task-technology alignment of mHealth for CHWs drawing uponthe task technology fit as the theoretical foundation
Big data analytics in e-commerce: A systematic review and agenda for future research
There has been an increasing emphasis on big data analytics (BDA) in e-commerce in recent years. However, it remains poorly-explored as a concept, which obstructs its theoretical and practical development. This position paper explores BDA in e-commerce by drawing on a systematic review of the literature. The paper presents an interpretive framework that explores the definitional aspects, distinctive characteristics, types, business value and challenges of BDA in the e-commerce landscape. The paper also triggers broader discussions regarding future research challenges and opportunities in theory and practice. Overall, the findings of the study synthesize diverse BDA concepts (e.g., definition of big data, types, nature, business value and relevant theories) that provide deeper insights along the cross-cutting analytics applications in e-commerce
Cloud Forensic: Issues, Challenges and Solution Models
Cloud computing is a web-based utility model that is becoming popular every
day with the emergence of 4th Industrial Revolution, therefore, cybercrimes
that affect web-based systems are also relevant to cloud computing. In order to
conduct a forensic investigation into a cyber-attack, it is necessary to
identify and locate the source of the attack as soon as possible. Although
significant study has been done in this domain on obstacles and its solutions,
research on approaches and strategies is still in its development stage. There
are barriers at every stage of cloud forensics, therefore, before we can come
up with a comprehensive way to deal with these problems, we must first
comprehend the cloud technology and its forensics environment. Although there
are articles that are linked to cloud forensics, there is not yet a paper that
accumulated the contemporary concerns and solutions related to cloud forensic.
Throughout this chapter, we have looked at the cloud environment, as well as
the threats and attacks that it may be subjected to. We have also looked at the
approaches that cloud forensics may take, as well as the various frameworks and
the practical challenges and limitations they may face when dealing with cloud
forensic investigations.Comment: 23 pages; 6 figures; 4 tables. Book chapter of the book titled "A

Is the Privacy Paradox a Matter of Psychological Distance? An Exploratory Study of the Privacy Paradox from a Construal Level Theory Perspective
Institutional operators in the digital marketplace have delighted consumers with precise, highly personalized and customized products and services through the collection and mining of customersâ personally identifiable data. However, the ethical conduct of online businesses continues to be a debatable issue, due to the increasing concerns over information privacy. Despite such controversies, scrutiny of consumer behavior has shown that consumersâ concerns for privacy do not transfer into protective behaviors or abstinence during online activity. The aim of this study is to illuminate the disparity known as the -Ëprivacy paradoxâ through the directions of the construal level theory. Based on semi-structured interviews with 21 online shopping consumers, we explain that, due to spatial, temporal, social, and hypothetical distance of privacy values, privacy is construed as an abstract phenomenon influencing the formation of distant-future attitudes and intentions rather than actual behavior
Do E-books Enhance the Reading Experience: An Affordance Theory Perspective
The digitisation of publishing has redefined the publishing industry and the reading experience for consumers. E-readers and smart devices are now part of the value proposition of e-books offering affordances ranging from overcoming the physical limitations of print books to providing the functionality of information systems to the reading experience. A gap exists in understanding the preferences of readers for print books and e-books. Through an affordance theory lens this paper aims to go some way to fill the gap in understand the perception of reading e-books on smart devices as well as advancing the use of affordance theory in information systems research by demonstrating the use of a proposed theoretical model. Using netnography an appropriate sample is identified and thematic analysis is used to identify affordances, positive and negative. The theoretical model is illustrated in the context of e-books and e-readers
Development and validation of an instrument to measure user perceived service quality of mHealth
The role of service quality in fostering the growth of mHealth services has gained much attention in the academic and practitioner communities. However, empirical research in this area has been beset by inadequate conceptualization and the lack of a validated scale. This study addresses these limitations by theoretically conceptualizing and empirically validating a multidimensional service quality scale in the mHealth context. The findings show that mHealth service quality is a hierarchical, multidimensional, and reflective construct, which consists of three primary dimensions and eight subdimensions. The results also confirm that the mHealth service quality scale is more effective at predicting satisfaction and continuance in a nomological network
