Dynamics of Charged Bulk Viscous Collapsing Cylindrical Source With Heat Flux
In this paper, we have explored the effects of dissipation on the dynamics of
charged bulk viscous collapsing cylindrical source which allows the out follow
of heat flux in the form of radiations. Misner-Sharp formulism has been
implemented to drive the dynamical equation in term of proper time and radial
derivatives. We have investigated the effects of charge and bulk viscosity on
the dynamics of collapsing cylinder. To determine the effects of radial heat
flux, we have formulated the heat transport equations in the context of
Mller-Israel-Stewart theory by assuming that thermodynamics
viscous/heat coupling coefficients can be neglected within some approximations.
In our discussion, we have introduced the viscosity by the standard
(non-casual) thermodynamics approach. The dynamical equations have been coupled
with the heat transport equation equation, the consequences of resulting
coupled heat equation have been analyzed in detail.Comment: 17 Pages, no figur
An Experiment and Detection Scheme for Cavity-based Cold Dark Matter Searches
A resonance detection scheme and some useful ideas for cavity-based searches
of light cold dark matter particles (such as axions) are presented, as an
effort to aid in the on-going endeavors in this direction as well as for future
experiments, especially in possibly developing a table-top experiment. The
scheme is based on our idea of a resonant detector, incorporating an integrated
Tunnel Diode (TD) and a GaAs HEMT/HFET (High Electron Mobility
Transistor/Heterogenous FET) transistor amplifier, weakly coupled to a cavity
in a strong transverse magnetic field. The TD-amplifier combination is
suggested as a sensitive and simple technique to facilitate resonance detection
within the cavity while maintaining excellent noise performance, whereas our
proposed Halbach magnet array could serve as a low-noise and permanent solution
replacing the conventional electromagnets scheme. We present some preliminary
test results which demonstrate resonance detection from simulated test signals
in a small optimal axion mass range with superior Signal-to-Noise Ratios (SNR).
Our suggested design also contains an overview of a simpler on-resonance dc
signal read-out scheme replacing the complicated heterodyne readout. We believe
that all these factors and our propositions could possibly improve or at least
simplify the resonance detection and read-out in cavity-based DM particle
detection searches (and other spectroscopy applications) and reduce the
complications (and associated costs), in addition to reducing the
electromagnetic interference and background.Comment: 22 pages, 7 figure
Hardware synthesis from DDL description
The details of digital systems can be conveniently input into the design automation system by means of hardware description language (HDL). The computer aided design and test (CADAT) system at NASA MSFC is used for the LSI design. The digital design language (DDL) was selected as HDL for the CADAT System. DDL translator output can be used for the hardware implementation of the digital design. Problems of selecting the standard cells from the CADAT standard cell library to realize the logic implied by the DDL description of the system are addressed
Some Biorthogonal Families of Polynomials Arising in Noncommutative Quantum Mechanics
In this paper we study families of complex Hermite polynomials and construct
deformed versions of them, using a transformation. This
construction leads to the emergence of biorthogonal families of deformed
complex Hermite polynomials, which we then study in the context of a
two-dimensional model of noncommutative quantum mechanics.Comment: 17 page
Takotsubo Syndrome and COVID-19: Associations and Implications.
Incidence of cardiovascular complications has increased during the COVID-19 (Coronavirus disease 2019) pandemic, both population-wide and in patients diagnosed with the disease. This increase has presented complications in patient care, leading to increased hospitalizations, adverse outcomes, and medical costs. A condition of interest is takotsubo syndrome, which may be associated with the novel coronavirus. To understand this connection, a narrative review was performed by analyzing primary studies and case reports available. The findings showed increased incidence of takotsubo cardiomyopathy in both the general population and COVID-19 patients. Proposed mechanisms for the linkage include generalized increases in psychological distress, the cytokine storm, increased sympathetic responses in COVID-19 patients, and microvascular dysfunction. Moreover, natural disasters are noted as likely being associated with increases of takotsubo syndrome. As the pandemic continues, treating COVID-19 as a systemic condition is imperative, with the increase in takotsubo syndrome marking a significant impact of the novel coronavirus
Treatment of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis in a remote, conflict-affected area of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Democratic Republic of Congo is a high-burden country for multidrug-resistant tuberculosis. Médecins Sans Frontières has supported the Ministry of Health in the conflict-affected region of Shabunda since 1997. In 2006, three patients were diagnosed with drug-resistant TB (DR-TB) and had no options for further treatment. An innovative model was developed to treat these patients despite the remote setting. Key innovations were the devolving of responsibility for treatment to non-TB clinicians remotely supported by a TB specialist, use of simplified monitoring protocols, and a strong focus on addressing stigma to support adherence. Treatment was successfully completed after a median of 24 months. This pilot programme demonstrates that successful treatment for DR-TB is possible on a small scale in remote settings
