    Experimental and numerical investigations of flow structure and momentum transport in a turbulent buoyancy-driven flow inside a tilted tube.

    Buoyancy-driven turbulent mixing of fluids of slightly different densities [At = Δρ/(2ă€ˆÏă€‰) = 1.15×10−2] in a long circular tube tilted at an angle Ξ = 15° from the vertical is studied at the local scale, both experimentally from particle image velocimetry and laser induced fluorescence measurements in the vertical diametrical plane and numerically throughout the tube using direct numerical simulation. In a given cross section of the tube, the axial mean velocity and the mean concentration both vary linearly with the crosswise distance z from the tube axis in the central 70% of the diameter. A small crosswise velocity component is detected in the measurement plane and is found to result from a four-cell mean secondary flow associated with a nonzero streamwise component of the vorticity. In the central region of the tube cross section, the intensities of the three turbulent velocity fluctuations are found to be strongly different, that of the streamwise fluctuation being more than twice larger than that of the spanwise fluctuation which itself is about 50% larger than that of the crosswise fluctuation. This marked anisotropy indicates that the turbulent structure is close to that observed in homogeneous turbulent shear flows. Still in the central region, the turbulent shear stress dominates over the viscous stress and reaches a maximum on the tube axis. Its crosswise variation is approximately accounted for by a mixing length whose value is about one-tenth of the tube diameter. The momentum exchange in the core of the cross section takes place between its lower and higher density parts and there is no net momentum exchange between the core and the near-wall regions. A sizable part of this transfer is due both to the mean secondary flow and to the spanwise turbulent shear stress. Near-wall regions located beyond the location of the extrema of the axial velocity (|z|≳0.36 d) are dominated by viscous stresses which transfer momentum toward (from) the wall near the top (bottom) of the tube

    We present measurements of the masses and decay widths of the baryonic states ÎŁc(2455)0/++\Sigma_{c}(2455)^{0/++} and ÎŁc(2520)0/++\Sigma_{c}(2520)^{0/++} using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 711 fb−1^{-1} collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e−e^{+}e^{-} asymmetric-energy collider operating at the ΄(4S)\Upsilon(4S) resonance. We report the mass differences with respect to the Λc+\Lambda_{c}^{+} baryon M(ÎŁc(2455)0)−M(Λc+)=167.29±0.01±0.02M(\Sigma_{c}(2455)^{0})-M(\Lambda_{c}^{+}) = 167.29\pm0.01\pm0.02 MeV/c2c^{2}, M(ÎŁc(2455)++)−M(Λc+)=167.51±0.01±0.02M(\Sigma_{c}(2455)^{++})-M(\Lambda_{c}^{+}) = 167.51\pm0.01\pm0.02 MeV/c2c^{2}, M(ÎŁc(2520)0)−M(Λc+)=231.98±0.11±0.04M(\Sigma_{c}(2520)^{0})-M(\Lambda_{c}^{+}) = 231.98\pm0.11\pm0.04 MeV/c2c^{2}, M(ÎŁc(2520)++)−M(Λc+)=231.99±0.10±0.02M(\Sigma_{c}(2520)^{++})-M(\Lambda_{c}^{+}) = 231.99\pm0.10\pm0.02 MeV/c2c^{2}, and the decay widths Γ(ÎŁc(2455)0)=1.76±0.04−0.21+0.09\Gamma(\Sigma_{c}(2455)^{0}) = 1.76\pm0.04^{+0.09}_{-0.21} MeV/c2c^{2}, Γ(ÎŁc(2455)++)=1.84±0.04−0.20+0.07\Gamma(\Sigma_{c}(2455)^{++}) = 1.84\pm0.04^{+0.07}_{-0.20} MeV/c2c^{2}, Γ(ÎŁc(2520)0)=15.41±0.41−0.32+0.20\Gamma(\Sigma_{c}(2520)^{0}) = 15.41\pm0.41^{+0.20}_{-0.32} MeV/c2c^{2}, Γ(ÎŁc(2520)++)=14.77±0.25−0.30+0.18\Gamma(\Sigma_{c}(2520)^{++}) = 14.77\pm0.25^{+0.18}_{-0.30} MeV/c2c^{2}, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. The isospin mass splittings are measured to be M(ÎŁc(2455)++)−M(ÎŁc(2455)0)=0.22±0.01±0.01M(\Sigma_{c}(2455)^{++})-M(\Sigma_{c}(2455)^{0})=0.22\pm0.01\pm0.01 MeV/c2c^{2} and M(ÎŁc(2520)++)−M(ÎŁc(2520)0)=0.01±0.15±0.03M(\Sigma_{c}(2520)^{++})-M(\Sigma_{c}(2520)^{0})=0.01\pm0.15\pm0.03 MeV/c2c^{2}.     Search for a dark vector gauge boson decaying to π+π−\pi^+ \pi^- using η→π+Ï€âˆ’Îł\eta \rightarrow \pi^+\pi^- \gamma decays

    We report a search for a dark vector gauge boson Uâ€ČU^\prime that couples to quarks in the decay chain D∗+→D0π+,D0→KS0η,η→Uâ€ČÎłD^{*+} \to D^0 \pi^+, D^0 \to K^0_S \eta, \eta \to U^\prime \gamma, Uâ€Č→π+π−U^\prime \to \pi^+ \pi^-. No signal is found and we set a mass-dependent limit on the baryonic fine structure constant of 10−3−10−210^{-3} - 10^{-2} in the Uâ€ČU^\prime mass range of 290 to 520 MeV/c2c^2. This analysis is based on a data sample of 976 fb−1^{-1} collected by the Belle experiment at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e−e^+e^- collider.Comment: 6 pages, 4 figure

    Using data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e−e^+e^- collider, we measure the energy dependence of the e+e−→hb(nP)π+π−e^+e^- \to h_b(nP)\pi^+\pi^- (n=1,2)(n=1,2) cross sections from thresholds up to 11.02 11.02\,GeV. We find clear ΄(10860)\Upsilon(10860) and ΄(11020)\Upsilon(11020) peaks with little or no continuum contribution. We study the resonant substructure of the ΄(11020)→hb(nP)π+π−\Upsilon(11020) \to h_b(nP)\pi^+\pi^- transitions and find evidence that they proceed entirely via the intermediate isovector states Zb(10610)Z_b(10610) and Zb(10650)Z_b(10650). The relative fraction of these states is loosely constrained by the current data: the hypothesis that only Zb(10610)Z_b(10610) is produced is excluded at the level of 3.3 standard deviations, while the hypothesis that only Zb(10650)Z_b(10650) is produced is not excluded at a significant level.Comment: 8 pages, 4 figures, submitted to Physical Review Letter

    We report a study of B→(J/ÏˆÎł)KB\to (J/\psi \gamma) K and B→(ψâ€ČÎł)KB\to (\psi' \gamma)K decay modes using 772×106772\times 10^{6} BBˉB\bar{B} events collected at the \Upsilon(4S)resonancewiththeBelledetectorattheKEKBenergy−asymmetric resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB energy-asymmetric e^+ e^-collider.Weobserve collider. We observe X(3872) \to J/\psi \gammaandreportthefirstevidencefor and report the first evidence for \chi_{c2} \to J/\psi \gammain in B\to (X_{c\bar{c}}\gamma) Kdecays,whileinasearchfor decays, while in a search for X(3872) \to \psi' \gammanosignificantsignalisfound.Wemeasurethebranchingfractions, no significant signal is found. We measure the branching fractions, \mathcal{B}(B^{\pm} \to X(3872) K^{\pm}) \mathcal{B}(X(3872) \to J/\psi\gamma) = (1.78^{+0.48}_{-0.44}\pm 0.12)\times 10^{-6},, \mathcal{B} (B^{\pm} \to\chi_{c2} K^{\pm})= (1.11^{+0.36}_{-0.34} \pm 0.09) \times 10^{-5},, \mathcal{B}(B^{\pm} \to X(3872) K^{\pm}) \mathcal{B}(X(3872) \to \psi'\gamma) < 3.45\times 10^{-6}$ (upper limit at 90% C.L.) and also provide upper limits for other searches.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figure

    Observation of D0−Dˉ0D^0-\bar{D}^0 Mixing in e+e−e^+e^- Collisions

    We observe D0−Dˉ0D^0-\bar{D}^0 mixing in the decay D0→K+π−D^0\rightarrow K^+\pi^- using a data sample of integrated luminosity 976 fb−1^{-1} collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e−e^+e^- asymmetric-energy collider. We measure the mixing parameters xâ€Č2=(0.09±0.22)×10−3{x'}^2 = (0.09\pm0.22)\times 10^{-3} and yâ€Č=(4.6±3.4)×10−3y' = (4.6\pm3.4)\times 10^{-3} and the ratio of doubly Cabibbo-suppressed to Cabibbo-favored decay rates RD=(3.53±0.13)×10−3R_D = (3.53\pm0.13)\times 10^{-3}, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic combined. Our measurement excludes the no-mixing hypothesis at the 5.1 standard deviation level.Comment: 6 pages, 4 figure
