Two Methods for Spoofing-Aware Speaker Verification: Multi-Layer Perceptron Score Fusion Model and Integrated Embedding Projector
The use of deep neural networks (DNN) has dramatically elevated the
performance of automatic speaker verification (ASV) over the last decade.
However, ASV systems can be easily neutralized by spoofing attacks. Therefore,
the Spoofing-Aware Speaker Verification (SASV) challenge is designed and held
to promote development of systems that can perform ASV considering spoofing
attacks by integrating ASV and spoofing countermeasure (CM) systems. In this
paper, we propose two back-end systems: multi-layer perceptron score fusion
model (MSFM) and integrated embedding projector (IEP). The MSFM, score fusion
back-end system, derived SASV score utilizing ASV and CM scores and embeddings.
On the other hand,IEP combines ASV and CM embeddings into SASV embedding and
calculates final SASV score based on the cosine similarity. We effectively
integrated ASV and CM systems through proposed MSFM and IEP and achieved the
SASV equal error rates 0.56%, 1.32% on the official evaluation trials of the
SASV 2022 challenge.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures, 5 tables, accepted to 2022 Interspeech as a

Retrieval of NO2 Column Amounts from Ground-Based Hyperspectral Imaging Sensor Measurements
Total column amounts of NO2 (TCN) were estimated from ground-based hyperspectral imaging sensor (HIS) measurements in a polluted urban area (Seoul, Korea) by applying the radiance ratio fitting method with five wavelength pairs from 400 to 460 nm. We quantified the uncertainty of the retrieved TCN based on several factors. The estimated TCN uncertainty was up to 0.09 Dobson unit (DU), equivalent to 2.687 ?? 1020 molecules m???2) given a 1?? error for the observation geometries, including the solar zenith angle, viewing zenith angle, and relative azimuth angle. About 0.1 DU (6.8%) was estimated for an aerosol optical depth (AOD) uncertainty of 0.01. In addition, the uncertainty due to the NO2 vertical profile was 14% to 22%. Compared with the co-located Pandora spectrophotometer measurements, the HIS captured the temporal variation of the TCN during the intensive observation period. The correlation between the TCN from the HIS and Pandora also showed good agreement, with a slight positive bias (bias: 0.6 DU, root mean square error: 0.7 DU)
Exploring South Korea’s Ocean Economy : the Korea National Ocean Economy Survey 2017-2019
As the economic contribution of the ocean and fisheries industry increases, it is essential to identify industrial characteristics and propose specialized strategies based on data. However, there has been a lack of research on the establishment of an industrial classification system that reflects the characteristics of the ocean and fisheries industry in South Korea. Therefore, this study aims to introduce the specialized classification system of the ocean and fisheries industry and, further intends to analyze industry trends using the survey data based on the classification system. For the past three years (2017-2019) 9,000 businesses were surveyed annually to estimate industry revenues, number of businesses and workers, annual labor costs, and business outlook. As a result, this study proposed the need for government support for the shipbuilding and offshore plant construction & repair industry which has great economic ripple effects, and the need to strengthen the labor supply chain of the fishery industries that are easily affected by external shocks
Nanotextured Morphology of Poly(methyl methacrylate) and Ultraviolet Curable Poly(urethane acrylate) Blends via Phase Separation
Domain structures of spin-coated immiscible poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and ultraviolet (UV) curable poly(urethane acrylate) (PUA) blends were studied using atomic force microscopy (AFM). Spin casting the PMMA/PUA blends in propylene glycol monomethyl ether acetate (PGMEA) was accompanied with phase separation, and PUA was subsequently cross-linked under UV radiation. Selective dissolution of PMMA in the phase-separated films was feasible using tetrahydrofuran (THF) solvent after the UV curing process, because the cured PUA material is highly stable against THF. Morphology of phase-separated structure, including domain size and height, could be controlled by varying total concentration of the blended solution, and various nanoscale features such as island-like and hole-like structures were achieved by changing weight ratio of the two immiscible polymers

PAS: Partial Additive Speech Data Augmentation Method for Noise Robust Speaker Verification
Background noise reduces speech intelligibility and quality, making speaker
verification (SV) in noisy environments a challenging task. To improve the
noise robustness of SV systems, additive noise data augmentation method has
been commonly used. In this paper, we propose a new additive noise method,
partial additive speech (PAS), which aims to train SV systems to be less
affected by noisy environments. The experimental results demonstrate that PAS
outperforms traditional additive noise in terms of equal error rates (EER),
with relative improvements of 4.64% and 5.01% observed in SE-ResNet34 and
ECAPA-TDNN. We also show the effectiveness of proposed method by analyzing
attention modules and visualizing speaker embeddings.Comment: 5 pages, 2 figures, 1 table, accepted to CKAIA2023 as a conference

Hu.4-1BB-Fc fusion protein inhibits allergic inflammation and airway hyperresponsiveness in a murine model of asthma
Purpose4-1BB (CD 137) is a costimulatory molecule expressed on activated T-cells. Repression by 4-1BB is thought to attenuate Th2-mediated allergic reactions. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of 4-1BB on allergic airway inflammation in a murine asthma model.MethodsBALB/c mice were sensitized to and challenged with ovalbumin (OVA). Hu.4-1BB-Fc was administered 1 day before the first OVA sensitization or 1 day after the second OVA sensitization. Following antigen challenge, airway responsiveness to methacholine was assessed and bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) fluid was analyzed. Total immunoglobulin (Ig) E, OVA-specific IgE, IgG1, and IgG2a levels in sera were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Lung pathology was also evaluated.ResultsIn mice treated with Hu.4-1BB-Fc before the first OVA sensitization, there was a marked decrease in airway hyperresponsiveness, total cell count, and eosinophil count in the BAL fluid. In addition, Hu.4-1BB-Fc treatment decreased serum OVA-specific IgG1 levels and increased serum IgG2a level significantly compared with the corresponding levels in mice sensitized to and challenged with OVA. Hu.4-1BB-Fc-treated mice also showed suppressed peribronchial and perivascular inflammatory cell infiltration. In contrast, treatment with Hu.4-1BB-Fc 1 day after sensitization had no effect on airway hyperresponsiveness and showed less suppression of inflammation in lung tissue.ConclusionAdministration of Hu.4-1BB-Fc can attenuate airway inflammation and hyperreactivity in a mouse model of allergic airway inflammation. In addition, administration before sensitization may be more effective. These findings suggest that 4-1BB may be a useful therapeutic molecule against asthma
Convolution channel separation and frequency sub-bands aggregation for music genre classification
In music, short-term features such as pitch and tempo constitute long-term
semantic features such as melody and narrative. A music genre classification
(MGC) system should be able to analyze these features. In this research, we
propose a novel framework that can extract and aggregate both short- and
long-term features hierarchically. Our framework is based on ECAPA-TDNN, where
all the layers that extract short-term features are affected by the layers that
extract long-term features because of the back-propagation training. To prevent
the distortion of short-term features, we devised the convolution channel
separation technique that separates short-term features from long-term feature
extraction paths. To extract more diverse features from our framework, we
incorporated the frequency sub-bands aggregation method, which divides the
input spectrogram along frequency bandwidths and processes each segment. We
evaluated our framework using the Melon Playlist dataset which is a large-scale
dataset containing 600 times more data than GTZAN which is a widely used
dataset in MGC studies. As the result, our framework achieved 70.4% accuracy,
which was improved by 16.9% compared to a conventional framework
Gas-Filled Phospholipid Nanoparticles Conjugated with Gadolinium Play a Role as a Potential Theragnostics for MR-Guided HIFU Ablation
To develop a long-circulating theragnostics, meaning therapeutics and diagnostics for MR-guided HIFU ablation, we designed and prepared Gd-C5F12-phospholipid nanobubbles (PLNs) 30–100 nm in diameter. The biochemical and physical characterization of Gd-C5F12-PLNs were performed. Since Gd-C5F12-PLN-50 (Φ = 50 nm) and Gd-C5F12-PLN-100 (Φ = 100 nm) enhanced the hyperthermal effect of HIFU size- and concentration-dependently in a tissue-mimicking phantom, its circulation, distribution, tumor accumulation and tumor ablation were examined in tumor-bearing mice. The plasma-half life of Gd-C5F12-PLNs was longer than 1.5 hrs. Gd-C5F12-PLNs mainly accumulated in the liver and the spleen, suggesting that they are slowly secreted through the hepatobiliary pathway. Monitored by the T1 signal intensity of MR, Gd-C5F12-PLNs accumulated in tumor tissues for 8 hours in mice. HIFU with Gd-C5F12-PLN-100 showed the increased tumor ablation area as compared with HIFU alone. The results suggest that Gd-C5F12-PLNs exhibit a potential theragnostics for MR-guided HIFU ablation
