In the oilfield development process, for the geological problems, the new logging apparatus has been developed and the logging series are constantly changing. Comparing the thickness interpretation of different logging series, this paper has analyzed the variation reasons of the thickness and the effect factors of thickness interpretation such as well logging series, mud properties, formation pressure, formation fluid properties and well spacing density. This provides a more reliable parameter for calculating oil geological reserves accurately and improving reservoir evaluation.Key words: Logging series; Reservoir; Thickness division; Effective thicknes

The purpose of this study was to examine differences by gender and grade in middle school students’ physical activity and fitness (PAF) knowledge, physical activity, and sedentary behavior (SB). The study took place at one middle school located in the Southeastern region of the United States. Boys (n = 136) and girls (n = 166) in 6th (n =129), 7th (n = 96) and 8th (n = 77) completed a PE Metrics written test to assess PAF knowledge. They (N = 312) also completed the validated Youth Activity Profile to report physical activity at school (PAS), physical activity at home (PAH), and SB. Two-way (gender by grade) multivariate analysis of variances (MANOVA) followed by Bonferroni post-hoc multiple comparison analysis were conducted. Box’s M test of covariance matrices showed no statistical violation (M = 37.78, F = .73, p \u3e .05). The two-way MANOVA showed significant gender (Wilks’s λ = .94, F = 4.40, p \u3c .01, N(2/p) \u3c .06) and grade main effects (Wilks’s λ = .89, F = 4.20, p \u3c .01, N(2/p) \u3c .05). No significant gender by grade interaction effect was detected (p \u3e .05). Subsequent tests of between subjects effect located the significant gender difference in PAS favoring boys (F = 9.3, p \u3c .01, N(2/p) = .03). Boys and girls showed no significant difference on PAF knowledge, PAH, and SB. Significant grade differences were observed for PAS (F = 8.57, p \u3c .01, N(2/p) =.06), PAH (F = 8.18, p \u3c .01, N(2/p) =.05), and SB (F = 4.61, p = .01, N(2/p) \u3e = .03). Sixth grade students showed significantly higher levels of PAS and PAH than 7th and 8th grade students (p \u3c .05 or \u3c .01). Sixth grade students further showed significantly lower SB than 7th grade students (p \u3c .05). This study found boys to be more physically active during school hours than girls, and students in lower grades to be more active than higher grade students. Future school-based interventions should take into account gender and grade-based differences

CARE: Confidence-rich Autonomous Robot Exploration using Bayesian Kernel Inference and Optimization

In this paper, we consider improving the efficiency of information-based autonomous robot exploration in unknown and complex environments. We first utilize Gaussian process (GP) regression to learn a surrogate model to infer the confidence-rich mutual information (CRMI) of querying control actions, then adopt an objective function consisting of predicted CRMI values and prediction uncertainties to conduct Bayesian optimization (BO), i.e., GP-based BO (GPBO). The trade-off between the best action with the highest CRMI value (exploitation) and the action with high prediction variance (exploration) can be realized. To further improve the efficiency of GPBO, we propose a novel lightweight information gain inference method based on Bayesian kernel inference and optimization (BKIO), achieving an approximate logarithmic complexity without the need for training. BKIO can also infer the CRMI and generate the best action using BO with bounded cumulative regret, which ensures its comparable accuracy to GPBO with much higher efficiency. Extensive numerical and real-world experiments show the desired efficiency of our proposed methods without losing exploration performance in different unstructured, cluttered environments. We also provide our open-source implementation code at https://github.com/Shepherd-Gregory/BKIO-Exploration.Comment: Full version for the paper accepted by IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters (RA-L) 2023. arXiv admin note: text overlap with arXiv:2301.0052

Using a hybrid design to analyze effectiveness and implementation of a refined energy-balance education module for upper elementary physical education

Informed by a previous experiment, this study sought to examine the effectiveness and implementation of a refined energy-balance (EB) education module for upper elementary physical education (PE). The refined module was distributed through a participatory research network to six schools in Iowa (United States) participated in the study and the evaluation followed the type I effectiveness-implementation hybrid design. The PE teachers completed standardized log sheets after delivering each lesson. Students in fourth and fifth grades (n = 570 and n = 586 at baseline and post-test, respectively) completed a written test before and after the experiment, to assess EB knowledge. The overall completion rate of the log sheets was low and varied across lessons, but process data meaningfully informed the implementation. The EB knowledge gain over time was modest and statistically significant in both boys and girls in fourth and fifth grades. The experienced schools showed greater knowledge gains than the naive schools that had not previously been exposed to the EB module. The findings support the potential of the refined EB education module for broader dissemination in elementary schools

New pattern-based method for identifying recent HIV-1 infections from the viral env sequence

    Get PDF
The study investigates a pattern-based method for measuring intra-patient viral genetic diversity for determination of recent infections and estimation of population incidence. Pattern-based diversities of recent infections are significantly lower than that of chronic ones. With larger window periods varying from 200 to 350 days, a higher accuracy (90%95%) not affected by advanced disease nor antiretroviral therapy (ART) treatment could be obtained. The pattern-based genetic method is supplementary to existing serology-based assays, both suitable for use in low and high epidemic regions respectively. The envelope (env) gene of HIV/SIV is the most variable of viral genes
