Observation of narrow baryon resonance decaying into pKs0pK^0_s in pA-interactions at 70GeV/c70 GeV/c with SVD-2 setup

SVD-2 experiment data have been analyzed to search for an exotic baryon state, the $\Theta^+$-baryon, in a $pK^0_s$ decay mode at $70 GeV/c$ on IHEP accelerator. The reaction $pA \to pK^0_s+X$ with a limited multiplicity was used in the analysis. The $pK^0_s$ invariant mass spectrum shows a resonant structure with $M=1526\pm3(stat.)\pm 3(syst.) MeV/c^2$ and $\Gamma < 24 MeV/c^2$. The statistical significance of this peak was estimated to be of $5.6 \sigma$. The mass and width of the resonance is compatible with the recently reported $\Theta^+$- baryon with positive strangeness which was predicted as an exotic pentaquark ($uudd\bar{s}$) baryon state. The total cross section for $\Theta^+$ production in pN-interactions for $X_F\ge 0$ was estimated to be $(30\div120) \mu b$ and no essential deviation from A-dependence for inelastic events $(\sim A^{0.7})$ was found.Comment: 8 pages, 7 figures, To be submitted to Yadernaya Fizika. v3-v5 - Some references added, minor typos correcte

ПЕРСПЕКТИВИ ПОКРАЩАННЯ ЕФЕКТИВНОСТІ ЛІКУВАННЯ У ХВОРИХ НА МУЛЬТИРЕЗИСТЕНТНИЙ ТУБЕРКУЛЬОЗ: СВІТОВІ ТЕНДЕНЦІЇ ТА ВІТЧИЗНЯНІ ДОСЯГНЕННЯ

The Aim of work. Study the effectiveness of treatment among patients with multidrug resistant and extensively drug resistant tuberculosis using standard approaches for conventional antimycobacterial therapy and to present the first results of the efficacy of adapted to the Ukrainian conditions, short 12-month anti­myco­bacterial therapy with the inclusion of linzolid.Materials and methods. In general, the design of the work included several types of researches. In a retrospective cohort study the efficacy of treatment among 1038 patients with MDR TB and XDR TB was studied over the period from 2006 to 2015. In a prospective clinical case-control study the effectiveness of the short 12-month antimycobacterial regimens among 150 patients with new MDR TB cases, including those with fluoroquinolone or aminoglycoside / polypeptide resistance over the period from 2015 to 2016 was inquired. The abbreviated 12-month regimens of AMBT for patients with MRTB and pre-RRTB included at least 6 effective PTPs: pyrazinamide, kanamyсin / capreomycin, levofloxacin / moxifloxacin, protionamid, cycloserine, linezolid and high doses of isoniazid.Мета роботи – вивчити ефективність лікування хворих на мультирезистентний туберкульоз (МРТБ) та туберкульоз із розширеною резистентністю (РРТБ) у разі застосування стандартних підходів до формування режиму антимікобактерійної терапії та представити перші результати щодо ефективності адаптованих до України скорочених 12-місячних режимів антимікобактерійної терапії із включенням лінезоліду.Матеріали і методи. Загалом дизайн роботи включав декілька видів досліджень. У ретроспективному когортному дослідженні вивчали ефективність лікування серед 1038 хворих на МРТБ та РРТБ за період з 2006 по 2015 рр. У проспективному клінічному дослідженні випадок-контроль вивчали ефективність скорочених 12-місячних режимів антимікобактерійної терапії (АМБТ) серед 150 хворих на нові випадки МРТБ, у тому числі з резистентністю до фторхінолонів або аміноглікозидів/поліпептидів (пре-РРТБ) за період з 2015 по 2016 рр. Скорочені 12-місячні режими АМБТ для хворих на МРТБ та пре-РРТБ включали мінімум 6 ефективних ПТП: піразинамід, канаміцин/капреоміцин, левофлоксацин/моксифлоксацин, протіонамід, циклосерин, лінезолід та високі дози ізоніазиду

The pivotal role of effort beliefs in mediating implicit theories of intelligence and achievement goals & academic motivations

Empirical studies into meaning systems surrounding implicit theories of intelligence typically entail two stringent assumptions: that different implicit theories and different effort beliefs represent opposite poles on a single scale, and that implicit theories directly impact the constructs as achievement goals and academic motivations. Through an empirical study based on a large sample of university students, we aim to demonstrate that relaxing these stringent assumptions, and thereby using the meaning system framework to its full potential, will provide strong benefits: effort beliefs are crucial mediators of relationships between implicit theories and achievement goals and academic motivations, and the different poles of implicit theories and effort beliefs do expose different relationships with goal setting behaviour and academic motivations. A structural equation model, cross-validated by demonstrating gender-invariance of path coefficients, demonstrates that incremental and entity theory views have less predictive power than positive and negative effort beliefs in explaining achievement goals and motivations

Study of the K- -> pi0 e- nu decay

The decay K- -> pi0 e- nu has been studied using in-flight decays detected with "ISTRA+" setup operating at the 25 GeV negative secondary beam of the U-70 PS. About 130K events were used for the analysis. The lambda_+ parameter of the vector formfactor has been measured: lambda_+ = 0.0293 +- 0.0015(stat) +- 0.002(syst). The limits on the possible tensor and scalar couplings have been derived: f_T/f_+(0)=-0.044 +0.059 -0.057 (stat) f_S/f_+(0)=-0.020 +0.025 -0.016 (stat)Comment: 11 pages, Latex, 9 picture
