Effect of air-jet texturing on adhesion behaviour of technical polyester yarns to rubber

Air-jet texturing of technical polyester yarns was performed in order to improve its adhesion to rubber. The air-jet texturing parameters were selected with great care to minimize the mechanical loss. H-adhesion tests were used to characterize the adhesion of the yarns to rubber. A significant increase in the adhesion of dimensionally stable polyethylene terephthalate yarn, textured with an overfeed level of 15% (DSPET15), was recorded, while a decrease in the adhesion of high tenacity polyethylene terephthalate (HTPET) yarn was observed for all overfeed levels. The effects of air-jet texturing on the adhesion of technical polyester yarns were discussed in terms of changes in the yarn geometry and changes on the single fiber surfaces. Changes in the yarn geometry were investigated by optical microscopy studies, while changes on the fiber surface were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM) studies. It was observed that air-jet texturing alters both the yarn geometry and the single fiber surfaces, leading to a change in the adhesion to rubber

WOS: 000417446300003This article addresses theories and studies related to the effect of media violence on aggressive behaviors in the children and adults. According to social learning theory, people can learn aggression by observing and imitating violence on the mass media. Observational learning contribute to both the short- and the long-term effects of media violence on aggressive behaviors in the children. Children make inferences from repeatedly observing the violent behaviors and they can develop schemas about a hostile world and normative beliefs that more approving of aggression. The experimental studies indicated that the children who watched the violent film exhibited physical, verbal and indirect aggression. The longitudinal studies found significant correlations between frequent viewing to violence on the media in childhood and physical, verbal and indirect aggression during young adulthood for both men and women later in life. Often exposure to violent on television during childhood can promote aggression in later childhood, adolescence and young adulthood

In the absence of any health care unit for the Hearing-impaired in the French Caribbean, the Law Act of 2005 and the Circular DHOS of 2007 about disability oblige all General Practitioners (GPs) to provide access for patients with hearing impairment. Objective: To assess the management of Guadeloupian Hearing-impaired children in Primary care outside a specialized structure. Methods: We conducted in Guadeloupe a twofold one-time quantitative and qualitative descriptive study. Some physicians were reached by telephone after being randomized out of the directory listing. The hearing-impaired patients were children enrolled in the specialized center EPHPHETHA. Two questionnaires explored the profile of both the patients and the physicians, the content and the means of their medical communication; as well as the feeling of both the expression of the patient's complaints and the transmission of medical information by the physician. Results: Thirty-two physicians and 31 patients answered. Parents would accompany over 90% of the children informed only about the ear, nose and throat system but not about the other medical fields. A seventy-eight percent majority of physicians used oral communication only whereas 3% Sign Language only. Apart from vaccinations and the ENT system respectively, physicians and patients experienced to communicate poorly and 100% of them would prefer if a Sign Language interpreter were present. Conclusion: This study provided scientific objectivity of a poor communication between Guadeloupian Hearing-impaired children poorly informed and their GPs. These latter could rely on some official recommendations submitted online by INPES and CNSA; yet the presence of an interpreter, or even the creation of a health care unit for hearing-impaired patients (UASS), both unanimously acclaimed, would improve the management of the Hearing-impaired in Primary Care.
