    Improving the Skills of Demand Function Counting and Demand Curve Drawing Using Drill Method and Think Pair Share (TPS)

    This research aims to determine whether there is an increased of demand function counting and demand curve drawing using drill method and think pair share. It was a classroom action research that used drill and think pair share learning methods. The subjects of the research were students at class X IPS 4 in Senior High School 11 Semarang. Data were analyzed by using the simple descriptive statistics analysis with the mean of the evaluation result. Findings show that the mean of drill and think pair share learning methods in Class X IPS 4 Senior High School Negeri 11 Semarang was 72.94 and 76.10 at the pre-cycle. The study completeness was only by 13 students (39%). After conducting the first cycle, there was an improvement for 78.06 and 89.04. The study completeness was 18 students (55%). In the second cycle, students' learning outcomes increased up to 95.76 and 99.29 with learning completeness was 33 students (100%)

    Interkingdom interaction: the soil isopod Porcellio scaber stimulates the methane-driven bacterial and fungal interaction

    Porcellio scaber (woodlice) are (sub-)surface-dwelling isopods, widely recognized as “soil bioengineers”, modifying the edaphic properties of their habitat, and affecting carbon and nitrogen mineralization that leads to greenhouse gas emissions. Yet, the impact of soil isopods on methane-cycling processes remains unknown. Using P. scaber as a model macroinvertebrate in a microcosm study, we determined how the isopod influences methane uptake and the associated interaction network in an agricultural soil. Stable isotope probing (SIP) with 13C-methane was combined to a co-occurrence network analysis to directly link activity to the methane-oxidizing community (bacteria and fungus) involved in the trophic interaction. Compared to microcosms without the isopod, P. scaber significantly induced methane uptake, associated to a more complex bacteria-bacteria and bacteria-fungi interaction, and modified the soil nutritional status. Interestingly, 13C was transferred via the methanotrophs into the fungi, concomitant to significantly higher fungal abundance in the P. scaber-impacted soil, indicating that the fungal community utilized methane-derived substrates in the food web along with bacteria.     Surface guided radiotherapy practice in paediatric oncology: a survey on behalf of the SIOPE radiation oncology working group

    INTRODUCTION: Surface guided radiotherapy (SGRT) is increasingly being implemented to track patient's surface movement and position during radiation therapy. However, limited information is available on the SGRT use in paediatrics. The aim of this double survey was to map SIOPE (European Society for Paediatric Oncology)-affiliated centres using SGRT and to gain information on potential indications, observed, or expected benefits. METHODS: A double online survey was distributed to 246 SIOPE-affiliated radiotherapy (RT) centres. Multiple choices, yes/no, and open answers were included. The first survey (41 questions) was active from February to March 2021. A shortened version (13 questions) was repeated in March 2023 to detect trends in SGRT use within the same community. RESULTS: Respectively, 76/142 (54%) and 28/142 (20%) responding centres used and planned to use SGRT clinically, including 4/34 (12%) new centres since 2021. Among the SGRT users, 33/76 (43%) already applied this technology to paediatric treatments. The main benefits of improved patient comfort, better monitoring of intrafraction motion, and more accurate initial patient set-up expected by future users did not differ from current SGRT-users (P = .893). Among non-SGRT users, the main hurdles to implement SGRT were costs and time for installation. In paediatrics, SGRT is applied to all anatomical sites. CONCLUSION: This work provides information on the practice of SGRT in paediatrics across SIOPE-affiliated RT centres which can serve as a basis for departments when considering the purchase of SGRT systems. ADVANCES IN KNOWLEDGE: Since little information is available in the literature on the use of SGRT in paediatrics, the results of this double survey can serve as a basis for departments treating children when considering the purchase of an SGRT system

    Unconstrained Submodular Maximization with Constant Adaptive Complexity

    In this paper, we consider the unconstrained submodular maximization problem. We propose the first algorithm for this problem that achieves a tight (1/2ε)(1/2-\varepsilon)-approximation guarantee using O~(ε1)\tilde{O}(\varepsilon^{-1}) adaptive rounds and a linear number of function evaluations. No previously known algorithm for this problem achieves an approximation ratio better than 1/31/3 using less than Ω(n)\Omega(n) rounds of adaptivity, where nn is the size of the ground set. Moreover, our algorithm easily extends to the maximization of a non-negative continuous DR-submodular function subject to a box constraint and achieves a tight (1/2ε)(1/2-\varepsilon)-approximation guarantee for this problem while keeping the same adaptive and query complexities.Comment: Authors are listed in alphabetical orde

    Radical radiotherapy for paediatric solid tumour metastases:An overview of current European protocols and outcomes of a SIOPE multicenter survey

    Purpose/objective: About 20% of children with solid tumours (ST) present with distant metastases (DM). Evidence regarding the use of radical radiotherapy of these DM is sparse and open for personal interpretation. The aim of this survey was to review European protocols and to map current practice regarding the irradiation of DM across SIOPE-affiliated countries. Materials/methods: Radiotherapy guidelines for metastatic sites (bone, brain, distant lymph nodes, lung and liver) in eight European protocols for rhabdomyosarcoma, non-rhabdomyosarcoma soft-tissue sarcoma, Ewing sarcoma, neuroblastoma and renal tumours were reviewed. SIOPE centres irradiating >= 50 children annually were invited to participate in an online survey. Results: Radiotherapy to at least one metastatic site was recommended in all protocols, except for high-risk neuroblastoma. Per protocol, dose prescription varied per site, and information on delineation and treatment planning/delivery was generally missing. Between July and September 2019, 20/27 centres completed the survey. Around 14% of patients were deemed to have DM from ST at diagnosis, of which half were treated with curative intent. A clear cut-off for a maximum number of DM was not used in half of the centres. Regardless of the tumour type and site, conventional radiotherapy regimens were most commonly used to treat DM. When stereotactic radiotherapy was used, a wide range of fractionation regimens were applied. Conclusion: Current radiotherapy guidelines for DM do not allow a consistent approach in a multicentre setting.     Direct Comparison of [18F]F-DPA with [18F]DPA-714 and [11C]PBR28 for Neuroinflammation Imaging in the same Alzheimer’s Disease Model Mice and Healthy Controls

    PurposeIn this study we compared the recently developed TSPO tracer [18F]F-DPA, with [18F]DPA-714 and [11C]PBR28 by performing in vivo PET imaging on the same Alzheimer’s disease mouse model APP/PS1-21 (TG) and wild-type (WT) mice with all three radiotracers.ProceduresTo compare the radiotracer uptake, percentage of injected dose/mL (%ID/mL), standardized uptake value ratios to cerebellum (SUVRCB), and voxel-wise analyses were performed.ResultsThe peak uptake of [18F]F-DPA was higher than 4.3% ID/mL, while [18F]DPA-714 reached just over 3% ID/mL, and [11C]PBR28 was over 4% ID/mL in only one brain region in the WT mice. The peak/60-min uptake ratios of [18F]F-DPA were significantly higher (p 18F]DPA-714 and [11C]PBR28. The differences in [18F]F-DPA SUVRCB between WT and TG mice were highly significant (p 18F]DPA-714 uptake was significantly higher in TG mice starting in the 20–40-min timeframe and increased thereafter, whereas [11C]PBR28 uptake became significant at 10–20 min (p Conclusions[18F]F-DPA displays higher brain uptake, higher TG-to-WT SUVRCB ratios, and faster clearance than [18F]DPA-714 and [11C]PBR28, and could prove useful for detecting low levels of inflammation and allow for shorter dynamic PET scans.</p
