Term-concept relationship in an Information Retrieval Thesaurus
Concept representation in Thesauri, especially the representation of compound concepts, has been studied. The criteria and relative advantages in representing a compound concept either as a precombined descriptor or as a combination of elemental descriptors, are discussed with illustrative examples taken from Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) of the National Library of Medicine
Budgeting in Specialist libraries
The objectives of budgeting the attributes necessary for a budget, and the factors
to be considered in the formulation of a
budget a rebriefly mentioned.
The different types of budgets, and allocation of funds to
different budgetary items i s discussed .
The methods that can be employed for determ ining the annual financial requirements, for efficient end effective library service in a
specialist library are given
Collection Development in an Electronic Era
It has been quite a long since we traversed from library management to
information management and information technology management. IT has made
management of information a relatively easy task thus helping in quick and easy
access to information. The growing impact of IT has somehow completed
librarian to use IT effectively to render service and with the growing number of
e-sources, it has become imperative for information professionals to redefine the
process of collection development. This paper gives an overview of CD in
electronic era pointing out some of the issues
Planning of Library and Documentation Systems : a model plan for central and regional units of a system
The generation and diffusion of knowledge,
the need for a fast pace and exhaustiveness in information transfer, evolution and functions of modern documentation systems a rediscussed. The need for planning, the steps in planning, and the advantages of planning of a library and documentation system a rebriefly mentioned. A draft model for a 3-phase 15 year developmental
plan for a Library and Technical Information
System consisting of Central and Regional units is presented. The plan presents the factors affecting library planning, the steps at which information i s needed i n product development, and the sources for information. The structure, organisation, documentation services, personnel, annual budget, and furniture and equipment
of the Central Unit a rediscussed in brief.
Two models for regional units are given. A
list of select reading of 46 documents is

Analysis of Airless Tyre for Static Forces
In this work, models of air-less tire is constructs to simulate the loading condition. Air-less tire, air-tire are modelled by AUTODESK modelling software. Model imported from AUTODESK to ANSYS to simulate the static compressive loading condition. Both were analyzed through Non-Linear material model. A uniformly distributed center load acting at the center of tyre rim acting downwards. The tire is made by rubber of the hyper-elastic property. Both tires are analyzed by the FEA. Comparison is done between airless and air tyre for deflection and stress parameter
A perspective on drought research for enhancing field crop productivity with special reference to breeding for drought resistance
The reoent surge in literature on drought resistance in crop
plants has accentuated the challenge and excitement of
drought research. It is essential to note, unlike the case
with most biotic stress factors, there is no nmiracle ouren
for drought, neither in plants themselves nor in field
management teohniques, nor i n o v e r a l l imdrovement of the agroclimate of the region (soil and water oonnarvation
measures, aforestation, etc.). Rowever sufficient scope
exicsts to combine all these methods to increase
significantly, and stabilize crop production in many semiarid regions..
Studies on Seed Colouring in Soybean and Tomato
The effects of seed colouring using 25 dyes (i.e. 20 chemical and 5 natural dyes) on the quality of soyabean (cv. JS 335) and tomato (cv. Pusa Ruby) seeds were studied in the laboratory. Data were recorded for seed germination percentage, root and shoot length, whole seedling length, dry weight of seedling, vigour index, speed of germination and electrical conductivity. Rhodamine-B, Fast green and Malachite green for soyabean and Rhodamine-B and Fast green for tomato were the best dyes for seed colouring
Analysis of Rear Shock Absorber spring of a Two Wheeler
Automobile suspension arrangement plays a significant role for the comfort and stability of the vehicle. In this study, a two wheeler rear suspension spring is studied related to the uniform load effect and its life. Model of the two wheeler suspension spring is demonstrated using the existing design of bullet bike with modelling software SOLIDWORKS. This study deals with the analysis of spring using ANSYS 17.0. Results are compared on the basis of static structural and life results obtained. Further results using another material is compared
Strategies for improving rabi sorghum productivity
In India, sorghum (Sorghum bicolor(L.) Moench) grown during the postrainy season (rabi sorghum) accounts for nearly 40% of the total sorghum hectarage in the country. It is an important grain and fodder crop on 6.5m hectares on Vertisols in south-central India. Efforts to improve rabi sorghum yields have not resulted in any significant gain as they have for the rainy season sorghum. Continuously receding soil moisture, poor nutrient availability, and low night temperatures are some of the major reasons for the low yields. Rabi sorghum environments are diverse. They are inadequately characterized especially from the angle of recommending new genotypes. This paper reviews pertinent literature and summarizes results from the authors' studies relating the environmental factors during rabi to crop growth, development, water use, and grain yield. It also examines plant physiological traits of rabi sorghum likely to be useful for effective utilization of resources under stored soil-moisture conditions. Finally, suggestions are made on research directions for stabilization of rabi sorghum yields at higher levels. They include better characterization of environments, search for unique phenological response and root growth pattern
Multilocational evaluation of sweet-stalk sorghum genotypes for alternate uses
Some 100 sweet-stalk sorghum genotypes (G) were evaluated for stalk sugar percentage (Brix), grain and biomass yields and other agronomic traits during 1967 at Anantpur (shallow soil and low rainfall), Parbhani (adequate rainfall) and Patancheru (postrainy season; irrigated). Significant effects of G, environment (E) and G X E interactions were observed for all the characters studied. Most genotypes belonged to the medium maturity group (108 to 150 days). Genotypes IS6962, IS7555, IS9901, IS18162, IS18164, IS19674 and IS21005 gave high grain (1.34-2.49 t/ha) and biomass yields (13 to 20.6 t/ha) across environments; these lines may be suitable for breeding dual-purpose sorghums. IS131, IS11496, IS15102, IS19674 and IS11152 showed consistently high stalk sugar (17-21%) and biomass (13-21 t/ha) in all three environments; they could be used as parents for breeding sweet-stalk sorghums. IS776, IS18162 and IS18164 showed appreciable grain yield and high percentage of stalk sugar and the last two accumulated high biomass; these lines may be useful as parents for breeding multipurpose sorghums. IS3940 was early, and showed least differences (+- 2.9) in time to flowering across all environments, and showed high stalk sugar (15.5%) levels except at Anantpur., 11 ref., Some 100 sweet-stalk sorghum genotypes (G) were evaluated for stalk sugar percentage (Brix), grain and biomass yields and other agronomic traits during 1967 at Anantpur (shallow soil and low rainfall), Parbhani (adequate rainfall) and Patancheru (postrainy season; irrigated).
