A draft strategic plan for the Climate Change Science Program (CCSP) was released to the scientific community and the public in November 2002. At the request of the CCSP, the National Academies formed a committee to review this draft strategic plan; the results of this review are reported herein

Report of an external review Oregon State University Hatfield Marine Science Center, September 16-17, 2010
The Review Panel was chaired by Susan Capalbo (OSU). Members included Jack Barth (OSU), Sally Hacker (OSU), Jo-Ann Leong (Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology), Jim Sanders (Skidaway Institute of Oceaongraphy) and John Stein (NOAA Fisheries). The charge to the Panel was to “determine how [the OSU Hatfield Marine Science Center
(HMSC)] has performed on its strategic plan, which has four basic principal objectives
related to research, education, partnerships, and community interactions. … how HMSC
as an entity orchestrates and facilitates the work of Oregon State University and its
partners.” At the conclusion of the two‐day review, the Review Team was able to develop several shared impressions and overarching observations (not mutually exclusive) about the
OSU Hatfield Marine Science Center which help shape the context within which they
evaluated the opportunities for Center and the recommendations in five specific areas: research, academic programs, partnerships and infrastructure, community interactions and organizational structure.Centers, institutes and programs at Oregon State University are intended to be externally reviewed every seven to ten years
