The potential and challenges of monitoring-supported energy efficiency improvement strategies in existing buildings
The ongoing EU-supported CAMPUS 21 explores the energy efficiency potential of integrated security, control, and building management software. The main objective of the project is to compare the energy and indoor-environmental performance of a number of existing facilities before and after real or virtual implementation of monitoring-based control improvement measures
Quarkonia production with the Hera-B experiment
Measurements of the dependence of the J/Psi production cross section on its
kinematic variables as well as on the target atomic numbers for 920 GeV/c
protons incident on different targets have been made with the Hera-B detector.
The large collected di-lepton sample allows to study the production ratio of
Psi(2S) to J/Psi and of Chic to J/Psi . We also report on measurements of the
b-bbar and Upsilon production cross section.Comment: 9 pages, 11 figure
Double-Spin Asymmetry of J/psi Production in Polarized pp Collisions at HERA-
We calculated the color-octet contribution to the double spin asymmetry of
hadroproduction with nonzero transverse momenta at fixed target
energies GeV. It is shown that the color-octet contribution
is dominant in the asymmetries. The expected asymmetries and statistical errors
in a future option of HERA with longitudinally polarized protons at HERA- should allow one to distinguish between different parametrizations for the
polarized gluon distribution in the proton.Comment: 14 pages with 6 figures (epsfig), LaTeX; Some figures are changed and

Search for flavor-changing neutral currents and lepton-family-number violation in two-body D0 decays
Results of a search for the three neutral charm decays, D0 -> mu e, D0 -> mu
mu, and D0 -> e e, are presented. This study was based on data collected in
Experiment 789 at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory using 800 GeV/c
proton-Au and proton-Be interactions. No evidence is found for any of the
decays. Upper limits on the branching ratios, at the 90% confidence level, are
obtained.Comment: 28 pages, 18 figures. Submitted to Physical Review
Psi prime to J/psi Ratio Measurements in PHENIX at RHIC
The ratio of the over the production cross section in the
dielectron channel has been measured in 200 GeV collisions
with the PHENIX detector at RHIC. The analysis is based on fitting of the
dielectron invariant mass spectra in the area around the and
signals in order to extract a ratio over of 0.019statsys and a fractional feed-down contribution to
from of .Comment: 4 pages, 7 figures submitted to: Indian Journal of Physics (2010) -

Carfilzomib, bendamustine, and dexamethasone in patients with advanced multiple myeloma: The EMN09 phase 1/2 study of the European Myeloma Network
Background: Combined therapy with carfilzomib, bendamustine, and dexamethasone was evaluated in this multicenter phase 1/2 trial conducted within the European Myeloma Network (EMN09 trial). Methods: Sixty-three patients with relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma who had received 652 lines of prior therapy were included. The phase 1 portion of the study determined the maximum tolerated dose of carfilzomib with bendamustine set at 70 mg/m2 on days 1 and 8. After 8 cycles, responding patients received maintenance therapy with carfilzomib and dexamethasone until progression. Results: On the basis of the phase 1 results, the recommended phase 2 dose for carfilzomib was 27 mg/m2 twice weekly in weeks 1, 2, and 3. Fifty-two percent of patients achieved a partial response or better, and 32% reached a very good partial response or better. The clinical benefit rate was 93%. After a median follow-up of 21.9 months, the median progression-free survival was 11.6 months, and the median overall survival was 30.4 months. The reported grade 653 hematologic adverse events (AEs) were lymphopenia (29%), neutropenia (25%), and thrombocytopenia (22%). The main nonhematologic grade 653 AEs were pneumonia, thromboembolic events (10%), cardiac AEs (8%), and hypertension (2%). Conclusions: In heavily pretreated patients who have relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma, combined carfilzomib, bendamustine, and dexamethasone is an effective treatment option administered in the outpatient setting. Infection prophylaxis and attention to patients with cardiovascular predisposition are required
A Study of Cosmic Ray Composition in the Knee Region using Multiple Muon Events in the Soudan 2 Detector
Deep underground muon events recorded by the Soudan 2 detector, located at a
depth of 2100 meters of water equivalent, have been used to infer the nuclear
composition of cosmic rays in the "knee" region of the cosmic ray energy
spectrum. The observed muon multiplicity distribution favors a composition
model with a substantial proton content in the energy region 800,000 -
13,000,000 GeV/nucleus.Comment: 38 pages including 11 figures, Latex, submitted to Physical Review
On J/psi Production in Nuclear Collisions
Data on J/psi production in inelastic proton-proton, proton-nucleus and
nucleus-nucleus interactions at 158 A GeV are analyzed and it is shown that the
ratio of mean multiplicities of J/psi mesons and pions is the same for all
these collisions. This observation is difficult to understand within current
models of J/psi production in nuclear collisions based on the assumption of
hard QCD creation of charm quarks.Comment: 15 pages, 5 figures, significant changes introduce
Single Polarisation Asymmetries for Quarkonia in Non-relativistic QCD
We find that single spin asymmetries in NRQCD are non-vanishing in general.
They are proportional to the imaginary parts of some non-perturbative matrix
elements. With statistics of about 10^6 identified J/psi's, or 10^5 identified
chi_2, it is possible to measure these imaginary parts even if they are an
order of magnitude smaller than the real parts. Such statistics are quite
reasonable at polarised HERA N and other future experiments.Comment: Plain LaTeX with one figure (ps
