Synanthropic spread of some salt tolerant plant species along roadsides in the continental part of Croatia

Our research was carried out in northern Croatia from 2018 to 2022 and we investigated the distribution of salt-tolerant plant species along roads (mainly along motorways) in a total of 51 study sites. We were the first to detect Cochlearia danica, a halophyte characterized by an Atlantic distribution, in the Croatian flora. We demonstrated the distinct roadside spread of Desmazeria marina, Parapholis incurva and Sagina maritima in a northerly direction towards the interior of the mainland. We recorded the mass occurrence of several salt-tolerant species already well documented in Central Europe along the surveyed motorways (e.g. Plantago coronopus, Spergularia marina) and provide data on other weeds that have spread along major roads. Three species found (Desmazeria marina, Puccinellia distans subsp. distans, Parapholis incurva) are included in the Croatian Red List

Szívvel és alázattal : 140 éve született Dr. Polgár Sándor (1876-1944)

Dr. Polgár Sándor Győr megye legjelentősebb botanikusa volt. Munkásságának kiemelkedőbb eredményeit a florisztika, növényföldrajz, taxonómia, valamint az adventív flóra kutatása területén érte el. 1941-ben megjelent életműve, a Győrmegye flórája korának egyik legmodernebb monográfiája volt, amely napjainkban is sokat idézett alapmű. Felismerte és leírta hazánk egyik legritkább sárma-faját, az Ornithogalum ×degenianum-ot. Intenzív herbáriumi gyűjtő tevékenységet folytatott, gyűjtött lapjainak száma több, mint húszezer. Győri főreáliskolai tanárként 35 éven át tanított, ahol gyakorlatias módszereivel, tárgyszeretetével generációkban formálta ki a természet iránt érzett felelősséget.</jats:p

Polgár Sándor és az adventívflóra kutatása : Egzotikus flóraszigetek Győrben a 20. század első felében

Polgár Sándor természettudományos kutatásainak egyik fókuszpontjában az idegenho­nos (adventív) növényfajok álltak. Huszonkét tudományos publikációja közül kilencet e témakörben írt. Győr ipartelepein és gyárudvarain az 1910-es évektől kezdve számos trópusi (főként dél-amerikai) eredetű növényt talált. A legtöbb közülük még ismeretlen volt hazánk területéről, négy fajt Európából is elsőként figyelt meg. A nehezen határozható Solanum, Amaranthus és Chenopodium nemzetségek nem­zetközileg elismert szakértője volt. Tudományra új fajként írta le a Solanum adventitium-ot. Nevéhez fűződik az Amaranthus nemzetség 4 fajának első megfigyelése hazánkból.</jats:p
